So... I have been vaping for over a year and, yes, I have heard it all as far as battery saftey goes and also about charger saftey. I have been charging 18xxx batteries on the same no name charger with no issues. About a week ago I woke up to the strong smell of burning electronics ( if you have smelled this you know), well my charger had melted slightly on the top half and my battery suffered some deformation. Luckily on my part it was in a fairly safe place and I was charging a Sony VTC4 so nothing detrimental. I have a NITECORE charger enroute but this could have been a disaster. Just want to reiterate that a good charger, along with good bats is a must.

PLAY IT SAFE EVERYONE and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Glad to hear you and yours are OK Fenario :thumb:

Chargers are certainly important to our safety. I also have one of those cheap no-name single bay chargers I got with a kit a long time ago. I used it a few times until my Xtar WP2 got here and it's still tucked away for a spare in case my trusty beast kicks the bucket.

Any piece of equipment can however go bad suddenly on us, no matter how good its reputation for quality is. That happened to me with the Xtar power transformer about a year after I got it. It just stopped working one day. I replaced it with another appropriate transformer and the charger just keeps on charging.

I do not however charge anything when I'm not here and awake. Vape batts, cell phones, laptops, RC batts, etc, get unplugged when I go to bed or leave the house for a while. They can all start a fire and though it only happens rarely, when it does it can be really serious. It's not worth the chance to me and it doesn't affect my life negatively to manage things this way. Works for me :)

I used a No name 2 bay for over a year and loved it. Dependable as could be. Eventually it wore out and would not recognize batteries in place.
I ordered and started using a Nitecore 4 bay and really like the design and charging capabilities. Fast charge using 2 separate channels or standard charging running all 4 bays. 5 Months in, the first Bay failed but the other 3 are still working to spec.

I opened the No Name and fixed broken Solder points on both rail springs. It is now working perfect again.
I will eventually have a look inside the Nitecore.

Remember - if it is Man Made it can be Man broken.
