Charging a passthrough

I have a 900 mAh passthrough with the charging port on the bottom. It takes the mini USB common with most. My question is, can I charge it with the "normal" eGo charger at the threaded end like my others?

In my experience, no, you can only charge from the usb connection.

It is not a joyetech, but does light up either way. I don't want to destroy it, so I'll stick with the bottom.
