I got my digital multimeter for $1.99 at Harbor Freight. It works but there's no way to zero it for reading resistance so you have to touch the leads together then subtract that reading from your measurement. Otherwise it isn't bad, especially for the price.

I see they've gone up in price and are $4.99 now.

I've had mine for about 5 years and it still works fine.

I like my $5 DMM from sears 2007 black friday.
Avoid DMM that requires leads to be repositioned when switching from volt to ohm.
Never really liked the HF DMM but I have 3 of them because they were so cheap.
Kinda nice to have one for each car etc.
Bleeding batts destroyed my good analog meter a few years back; I miss it.
Learned to store batt side down in case they bleed.
