The Whole thing just Reeks of Governmental Overreach.

What have the Local News Outlets had to say about it. Have Vapers contacted Media Outlets?

I'm going to be asking the news media why they have not run a story on this, but you almost have to do all the leg work for them.

Was there another link besides the link to CASAA? If so, I missed it. Can you post (or repost) the link?

The link in the post to open this entire thread is the correct link. It says:

    Cook Co., IL
    URGENT Update - 11.13.15

The initially proposed $0.20 tax per milliliter on e-liquid would be doubled to $0.40 under a proposed amendment from Comm. Larry Suffredin (introduced late yesterday afternoon). Coupled with Chicago’s recently enacted tax, e-liquid sold in the city would be taxed at $0.95 per mL and $0.80 per cartridge.

Well I'll be damned... someone is ACTUALLY going to go face to face with this! Amazing job! Get the information out there, so any current Illinois residents can stand up and speak out about this. Illinois won't be the ONLY state pushing this agenda - guarantee it.

I've been emailing and contacting them with regularity. Even called "LevelVape" owner and spoke to him abt this. He said at least 80% of the Chicago vape shops would close down for good, and he might move out of Chicago.

Thank you. The part about the doubling of the 20 cents wasn't sinking in for some reason. That's really bad news.

So added to the 55 cents for Chicago would be a total of 95 cents. But it's not 40 cents plus 95 cents, and that's not what the CASAA says, either ("Coupled with Chicago’s recently enacted tax"). So Chicago's tax'll still be 55 cents. Way too much, of course.

Chicago Tribune contact page, and Chicago Sun Times contact page.

I cannot do it all for you people...grab the phone, email, tweet, get in touch and have them expose this effort on behalf of Big Tobacco by Chicago Politicians to kill vaping. Do it now!

The majority of Chicago vapers live in what we in Chicagoland delicately refer to as the "inner city." Residents there typically do not have cars, nor is access to the suburbs via public transportation all that easy or time-efficient. Furthermore, a lot of those residents don't have access to the internet, know how to get online, or even have a means to pay for internet purchases (i.e., credit cards).
You sure about this? Doesn't sound correct to me, but I don't have any way of knowing. Do you?

Which does have me wondering if the deeming will now piss off Indiana politicians. They may have had the stage set here to make some profit off these shops with future taxation but the deeming will eliminate that possibility.
Those poor Indiana polititions. The evil Feds are gonna ruin their Christmas.

Read this entire statement again, and pay attention to the last sentence, "Coupled with Chicago’s recently enacted tax, e-liquid sold in the city would be taxed at $0.95 per mL and $0.80 per cartridge."

So Chicago's tax is going to be 95 cents PLUS the 20 cents by the County. OVER a dollar per ml. Not 55 cents.

Wrong. But thanks for all that you're doing, Tommy! I gotta get off my ... and respond to this latest Cook County grab!

Instead of begging your ruling class in writing (something which just makes them feel empowered) have you considered trying to assemble a few thousand vapers with torches and pitchforks outside of whatever meeting(s) these taxes will be voted on?

    Bingo!!!
Long ago I suggested US vapes organize a vapers day off. Simply don't go to work for one day. Now I realize this is not without problems. However the feedback was resoundingly why this is a bad idea and why it could not work and why it could not work for specific people.

Apparently we want what we want and we want someone else to do the work, hmmm

    Lies, lies, lies and lies

I don't want to sidetrack this discussion and I'm not going to sign off that that is 100% accurate, but, I'm a pretty tough cookie, live on the South Side of Chicago, grew up playing ice hockey, have studied at least 10 martial arts, and I'm in by dusk most of the time. If I'm out late and forced to walk a bock at 1AM near my house... I'm very thankful that I make it in the house without incident, every time.

They do NOT fight, hand-to-hand or with knife. They just shoot you.
