My fellow PIFers I come to you is a state of mourning. I want to pay tribute to my 1st LR atty "chippy" I feel as though a eulogy while totally insufficient is at least a good place to start. Chippy passed this morning at 12:13a.m.
I start this eulogy with the history behind chippy. You see chippy wasn't a new atty when be oh be received him......no chippy was left for "dead" and PIFed. Chippy came from an abusive home, that's how he got his name. I received him paint all chipped up, as well as with a junked up coil and wick. I bathed chippy thoroughly. I nursed chippy back to health by despite my nicotine cravings, vaping 6MG with him in the beginning.
I then introduced chippy to BWB and he began remarkable improvement from that point. It's my belief only, that his prior owner had subjected him to TV juice, as his final punishment, almost as if to add insult to injury.
Weeks went by and chippy and I bonded. We fished, hiked, and swam together, as well as everything BFFs do. Chippy was finally able to carry the burden of my excessive need for nicotine and eventually took 36MG in stride. There were times I believe he taunted me....."higher boB higher boB'". I gave in to those times, and one night chippy and I vaped 75MG PG.
You know....other than spending most of the night on the toilet with chippy by my side I don't remember much, other than me asking chippy if he'd like a paint job some day. It may have been the nicotine, but I darn near swear I heard the little guy say "be oh be if I'm good enough for you then I'm just fine the way I am". I nearly broke out in tears! Here this poor little beat up left for dead, paint pealing atty that kept me from smoking for months insinuating he may not be good enough! That's when it hit me....the TV juice had taken any self esteem he had and crushed it to pieces. Try as I might with good juice, that would never return.
I now turn to another "stray" that goes by the name of "smiley". See smiley was PIFed to me by a good friend and to my knowledge used but not abused. Smiley came to me with a smiley face sticker on him, that's how he got his name. I spent the day bathing smiley, and am happy to report his condition as "stable" at this time (more than some would say about me). Here I sit heart in pieces, the mere glance at smiley brings about memories of the times chippy and I spent together. While going through all this I have went back to 6MG to ensure the health and safety of smiley until I can more accurately diagnose his condition.
Vapers I CAN NOT stress this enough.....atty abuse should be a felony in my book. I plan to work on an atty abuse hotline. I feel as though we should have a way of reporting this kind of stuff. I'm willing to take on more abused strays, as I feel I have both a passion and obligation for rescuing attys.
No I'll never replace chippy, I'm coming to terms with that slowly, but if we can save one, just one atty from the abuse that chippy suffered at the hand of his previous owner, I will feel I have accomplished my mission.
PIFers....before you lay your head tonight, tell you're atty you love it, it may be the last chance you get.
RIP
