Thanks Lizzie. I do try to be careful and if I'm going to be working outside, I am covered in repellent. This one got me going from the car to the house.

Oh maan! I hate when that happens. I made a quick trip out to my Jeepers the other day and got six chigger bites. I use repellent when I'm going out into the woods, but not for a quick trip to the car! You have my sympathies. Hope you have benedryl on hand.

You have chiggers? I thought they were just in the south. I never encountered them till camping in North Carolina. And I thought you had to sit in the grass so they could crawl on you. Just walking out to the car wouldn't mean getting them, would it? Then again, I'm clueless when it comes to chiggers.

Sitting down, facing forward.
We have those "wonderful" chiggers here in NJ as well. Man, do they itch! DWO keeps them at bay though and yes you can get them simply by walking through an infected area...those suckers jump.

I got that sensor into the Jeep in spite of its best efforts to stop me. Dealers charge about $300 for replacing it, so I saved enough for the next co-op by DIY. Now to see if it really fixes the problem.

Oh yeah - We've always had lotsa chiggers here. I can even get them lying in bed. They crawl through the screen door. Why is it that the speciies that I'd LIKE to go extinct, never do? Just sayin'.

Good night early, since tomorrow, I'll take the kids to Watkins Glen. Here's a sneak preview -- a photo I took there on another walk through the gorge.

Oh my. That's gorgeous!!

G'Night Sandy and G'Night Voltville. Off to do the sleepy thang.

I had to look up what a chigger was...EEEWWWWW!
Not even gonna post a pic, cuz it's SO GROSS! Especially the ones of bitten skin! EEEWWWWW!

There you go, Terry - maybe you have to wait for them to go away before you make the move out there. ;)

Sorry, Rave - I've been a shut-in all week with projects, but I'll make it to the post office this weekend. K?

Oh sorry Rave, that has to be itchy! My hand is still gross, but the color is getting better since I added ice to the treatment. I make sure I ALWAYS have benadryl around, I've been dosing myself every 4 hours. The stuff really works, but man does it make me loopy!

Hmmmm, Benedryl, huh? :w00t:

EEEWWWW, even in smiley form, it's gross (gonna have chigger nightmares now):

You're up early, Lizzie! Good luck with the cabinet moving. I modified some cabinets for my daughter when she bought a refrigerator that didn't quite fit and it was a real pain, but we got the refrigerator in and she's happy with it.

Hubby is good at doing stuff but this could be a real PITA. We shall see.

It's amazing what a spritz of Deep Woods Off will prevent! It's a necessity out here. Great smiley, Cindy! *stole it*

No worries about the package, Cindy. Seriously. Take your time. :)

That may be chiggers. They seem to appreciate areas where things are all cozy, like the belt-line.

Yup. And areas that are even "cozier".

Have a good weekend, folks! :D

I went to Watkins Glen State Park with the kids today. They didn't seem as thrilled as I had hoped. I think they are not really outdoors folks. First, as we were driving there, I heard the usual "When are we going to get there?" I keep telling them to live in the moment, but they don't seem to get it. I had told them about the killer stairs at the end, which they insisted going up, just to meet the challenge, I think, and while we walked past gorgeous waterfalls and interesting rock forms, all they thought about was those stairs. "Are we at the stairs yet? Are these the stairs?" Well, I thought it was lovely, anyway. I got some photos, though the kids kept trying to hurry me along. And I had to stop and rest, which they had no sympathy for, being so young and energetic.

So we finally made it up the stairs at the end, and we found a picnic table to eat lunch, then we went to the playground while waiting for the shuttle bus to come to take us down to the bottom again. Here we were at a playground, and all they could do was ask when the shuttle bus would arrive, even though 5 minutes before, I had told them I didn't know how often they ran, and we would just wait till it showed up.

The girl told me that going to the Memorial Day Festival in Waterloo was much more fun. Sigh! So much for the great outdoors!

Here's one of many photos I took. I'll spread them out, since I seem to be short of good-night photos lately.

Don't feel too bad Sandy. My kids never seemed to appreciate the great outdoors when they were growing up either. They just wanted to know when we were going home so that they could watch TV and be with their friends. However, it does sink in. The more experience they have with it, the less foreign it becomes until eventually, it becomes a part of them. Well, at least that was the case with my own kids.

The photograph is stunning! What a beautiful, primeval place!! Thank you for sharing it. :)
