Why so quiet, y'all?

Here's something weird. My son and his fiance were sitting in his room talking side by side. Her phone was on the desk across the room. His phone rang. It was her phone calling him. Her phone didn't say anything.

*cue Twilight Zone theme*

I seem to be coming out of my malaise. Today I got the bills paid along with the property taxes. Then I made the journey to town to pick up prescriptions and groceries and to make a bank deposit. Then I had to schlep all of the stuff in the house and put it all away. Considering how I've been for the last few days, this is a minor miracle. I'd planned to take a nap after I'd accomplished said errands, but that got interrupted. Not for long. I'm going to bed early!

Doo, doo, doo, doo....doo, doo, doo, doo. This is the Twilight Zone.

I hear you on the schlepping the groceries. Not only do you have to drive to town to buy them but then you have to bring them in and put them away!

You sound like you are feeling a little better!

I'm really glad you are starting to feel better. I feel partly to blame for your exhaustion. I wish I could say I'm feeling better but every time I sit down I see something that needs to be done. I know I don't have to do everything now but it bugs me to see MY house so disorganized. I can't remember when I've hurt so much. :(

Nap? I've forgotten what that is. :/

Update:
Today I was walking around the back of MY house and slipped on the muddy slope and landed on my bad knee and both hands. A large piece of firewood from the top of the pile came down on landed on my right first 3 fingers bruising and swelling the first 2 and scraped a small chunk out of my 3rd finger. Twisted my bad ankle too. :( I can still hold a mod so I guess I'll survive.

We went shopping for more repair hardware today and I opened a checking account. I also called the flooring company that put in my linoleum. Thankfully there is a 1 yr warranty on the floors because the kitchen linoleum is coming up. I don't remember if I told you guys about the big bubbles where the glue didn't stick. They are going to send the installer back to fix it.

Tomorrow BF tackles the water leaks. He's replacing the leaky outside faucet and maybe both faucets for the washer. Today he fixed the dryer vent hose, replaced the female end of a heavy duty extension cord for the generator, fixed the door knob to the guest room so it opens by turning the knob clockwise instead of the other way around. That really bugged Rave. LOL! He also turned the hot water temp up to 125 degrees so we don't have to wait all day for hot running water.

Last night we both took it easy and watched the 4 part Lonesome Dove movie. I've never seen him sit through a movie before so that was a surprise.

That's it for now. I'm falling asleep while I'm typing. Hope everybody has a great tomorrow. :)

Wow, that was quite the tumble!!!!

You guys are doing great on getting the house done and the boxes unpacked.

Yep, that's what I do.... I sit down and then I think "Geez, maybe just one more box" and up I am until I drop from exhaustion or run out of boxes:)

Lonesome Dove, it's a classic.

Good morning roomies. Another day, another Doctor. DW is feeling much better since she's been home without people waking her up to stuff sleeping pills down her throat and draw blood samples. I could have cooked a pile of oak leaves and she would have said it was delicious after 4 days of institutional food. I could get really used to this sleeping in thing but I guess I'll prolly go back to work tomorrow. Hope y'all have a bodacious Friday Eve.

I'm glad your missus is home and feeling better.

Work is a four letter word.

Good morning, Volpeeps,

I spent a good three hours just rolling out irrigation line yesterday. The sand cherries were kind of fussy to finish up since I had to position the in-line bobler onto each plant and then stake it with a U so that it wouldn't move.

I had to run the 36" spaced tubing behind the trees on the fence line so I was bushwhacking my way through the shrubbery.

I had a half inch line to run on for the grapes and one pine tree and then five more pig tails. They are on the fruit tree zone so that was sort of a separate deal.

I finally got everything hooked up and ran the zones. Wow, is everything watering fantastically! I am thrilled with the results.

I have to put on some more pigtails today.

I also have to order some more T's since I am about 20 T's short!

Poor little Wiseguy - I have been closing the gate to the stalls and I locked him up all night instead of opening the gate like I should have. Poor little guy didn't get any hay all night.

Oh no! So sorry that you fell! Last winter I bruised the heck outta my hand when the firewood on the rack shifted. Hope that you didn't break anything and that your knee and ankle will feel better soon. Soaking in a hot tub might be just what the doctor ordered for all of those aches and pains. Works wonders for me even without the jets.

Excellent news that the linoleum company is going to back up their shoddy workmanship. I'm glad your BF is getting all of these things fixed for you before he heads back to Washington. It would cost a fortune for someone to come in and repair all of those things. So glad that he fixed the doorknob too! Drove me nuts!

 about the oak leaves. Hospital food is atrocious!

Terry, I'm sorry to hear you fell. I hope you heal quickly. A hot bath with Epsom salts can help relieve the aches and pains.

I met one person from the thread: Uncle. We met when we were both visiting Philadelphia.

Who else has met others from Voltville?

I guess the only person that I've met is Terry. In fact, she's the only vaper that I've ever met that wasn't one of my own converts. :?:

I should have mentioned why I am closing the stall gates when I feed in the evening: Wiseguy has been finishing his alfalfa pellets before Nevada. Wiseguy has then been going into Nevada's stall and shoving Nevada off his alfalfa pellets dish and eating them himself. Poor Nevada!

So, I've been closing one or the other in while they eat their "good food" and then opening the gates when they are done.

Hiya Volties! I have been lurking, as usual, but I've also been doing a heck of a lot of sleeping. I can't seem to get enough! I decided my body knows best, so I'm going with the flow.

Sorry you got hurt Terry, everyone is right, take care and try not to rush too much, those jobs will wait for you. It's ok to let the non-essential stuff go for a bit, you have all winter to fix up and tinker.

Are all the yellow jackets gone now Sandy?

Glad to hear Mrs. Wuzz is doing better.

Lizzie, you are a go getter! I have to go take a nap after reading about all you get done, lol.

I've met one person from ECF, Deb.

Hi, Q. Yes, the yellow jackets have died down, though I saw a few just the other day, and one got inside somehow. Still, we're probably good till spring, when they may become a problem again.

Today is rainy and in the 40s. I dashed off when the rain was just starting this morning and put Penny's rain sheet on her. Yes, it's above 40, which is the general cutoff point for letting a horse get wet, but Penny is older now, and I think she gets cold a bit more easily. One thing I didn't like was putting the rain sheet on her when she was already sort of wet, but I decided that was better than her getting soaking wet. I'll go this evening when they are in their stalls and take the sheet off and dry her as much as I can with a towel. She may be damp all day long, but w/o the sheet, she'd be dripping wet all day long.

I hear we may get some snow tomorrow night. We'll see. They said that about tonight, but then on the car radio this morning, they said just rain tonight.

I was supposed to give the young girl a riding lesson on Shadow tomorrow, but we canceled because the weather's supposed to be bad, and I think it'll be colder than today. I'm glad. I don't look forward to trying to give riding lessons in winter. And we'd have to cancel because of weather so often, I think we should just quit till spring. The girl's mom thought we could try for next Friday and make that the last time till spring. At least tutoring is indoors, so I can depend on that as long as the kids don't get sick.

Hey Volties. Thanks for your concern about my fall. Nothing got broke, just bruised. I wanted to take a hot bath but I'm too tired and sore to clean the tub. It's full of dead bugs. Ugh! I don't have any Epsom salt either. I was so looking forward to a hot soak but BF got the outside water faucet fixed and the washer leaks fixed so we are washing clothes now. I'm like Lizzie. I can't stop until the work is done. I take breaks but they are short. I haven't even had time to rebuild atties. I can slow down after BF leaves. We've been pushing ourselves to get stuff fixed that I can't do myself. He's been a life saver but I'll be glad to have the house to myself.

I went to the barn this evening to get Penny in and dry her off a little. As I arrived, the boy who has Jasmine was coming out of his house. He quickly cleaned the stalls, and then we went, flashlights in hand, to get the horses. They were way out in the field, but fortunately, Jasmine comes when you call. She's such a friendly horse! She really loves to be involved with people. Penny probably wouldn't come if it was up to her. The horses seemed spooky. Maybe it was the flashlights. They probably saw better in total darkness than in that circle of light our flashlights cast, and I think Penny was nervous about what might be lurking just beyond the light. Or maybe something they sensed was lurking. The boy thought maybe coyotes were close.

Anyway, we got the horses in their stalls, and I removed Penny's rain sheet. She was fairly dry under it. I scrubbed at her with a towel, but I don't think I made much difference. She'll dry out overnight, and she was sure a lot less wet than she would have been without her raincoat.

The boy said he was going to be extra busy this weekend, and I asked why. A teacher has assigned them an outdoor experience. They could write a report instead, but he chose the outdoor thing. He has to camp out for 24 hours without any modern conveniences like cell phones. I suggested doing it in the national forest, but he said he wanted to go where there wouldn't be hunters. Then I suggested somewhere close to home, like the places we ride. I asked if that would be allowed. I also wondered if he could do it with friends, which might be more fun, and could he have modern food like marshmallows for the campfire? I can hardly wait to hear about it after he's done it.

Meanwhile, he's going to try to squeeze in some riding time, but he isn't sure if that'll work.

Jeez Terry! Be careful! I am glad you are doing alright, though.

Wuzz, I'm super happy Mrs. Wuzz is feeling better and eating something yummy for a change, even if it is oak leaves! I kid, I kid!

I think I caught the sleepy bug from Rave or maybe I am still trying to get used to the time change. I just wanna sleep all the time!
