That's sound like a great idea. Go for it. How about this one?

I agree, Uncle. She brought out details and gave him a personality that the photo lacked. I was thinking that's what Terry meant when she said it was a nightmare in shading. Having to extrapolate details that didn't show up well in the photo would have been a huge challenge for me, so that's one thing I really admire about that picture. Terry, that's one you should frame.

In fact, I think Terry has lots of talent, even though she is very modest about it. I can hardly wait to see the next project.

Meanwhile, my picture of Gabe languishes. I did work on it a little more, but it's not nearly ready to show everyone. I'm at that point where it's shading time. And putting in all the darks and highlights may be the hardest part.

Thank you Sandy. What a nice compliment to read first thing in the morning. :) I can't take all the credit though. Rave helped me a lot. She see's detail that I have to blow up 200% to see. I think I will frame this little guy because he makes me smile every time I look at him. :)

I just got back from visiting Penny. I groomed her, and wads of hair came out! Spring is over. It's supposed to go down to the teens tonight and get progressively colder for the next several days. I put her heavier blanket back on.

No snow today, as predicted yesterday. Sunshine instead. We still have snow on the ground, and it's looking old and worn out.

It looks like there might be some sun on Tuesday. Seattle, WA Weather Forecast from Weather Underground Of course, that could change. From the map I saw, it looked like Pt. Angeles wasn't rainy. What if you drove over there to look at the ocean and see if there's sunshine? It might be too late today, but maybe tomorrow? That's what I'd do. I'd take my camera, too, and I bet there'd be some nice scenery, even if it's not sunny.

Yeah, Tues we may see some sun. Pt. Angeles is an hour away. I'm almost surrounded by water here. BF and I went for a short walk on the beach Fri or Sat which is about 5 mins from my place. It was so freakin cold and windy though so we didn't stay. There's another beach about 10 mins away we might try Tues. I love being near the water so it would be a nice walk if we don't freeze our butts off.

I have been known to drive an hour just to explore a place I'd never been to before. That's how I got the photos of ice fishing. One day I decided to go north to Lake Ontario, and after poking around, I found Sodus Bay and the people who were fishing. I had never seen that before, so I went out on the ice and talked to the people and took pictures. It was an interesting day. I love exploring, camera in hand. I do less of it now since the price of gas rose, but I used to just get in my car and go, no particular destination decided. Or maybe I'd look on a map and decide on a spot that looked interesting. Maybe it would be, and maybe not, but someplace nearby might be, even if the intended destination was a dud.

Since celtic reminded me of the graphite powder I've been thinking a lot about it. I need it for my next drawing so I ordered some along with charcoal powder to compare the two. I also ordered some soft, black charcoal pencils since they don't last very long and a white pencil that is paper wrapped. You don't sharpen it, you unwrap it. I think Sandy mention these before. They aren't charcoal or graphite but something else. I'm hoping they will show white over graphite better than my white charcoal and white chalk.

I ordered from a different place this time so I should get it quicker. It's coming from Idaho, one state away. Shipping is a bit more but the items I ordered were a little cheaper than Blick's so it balances out. I'm hoping to get the order before I get too far on this next drawing.

That use to be fun to do until the price of gas went up. I hardly ever drive my car anymore because of that but I do explore in the summer on my motorcycle. I have a chauffeur during the cold weather months. :D

Yes, I have one of those paper-wrapped pencils in black. There's a string that you use to slice through a layer of paper to unwrap it. When I use it to draw, I hold the string in my hand with the pencil so it doesn't get in the way, Unwrapping it doesn't make a point, so if you want a fine line, you'll have to get a point on it some other way. Mine says it's a charcoal pencil, but it has a different texture, somewhat like a crayon and charcoal mixed. It has a very slightly greasy feel.

That sounds like what I'm getting. I don't know if it will work any better than my white charcoal or chalk but I want to try it anyway. I see these YouTube artists draw fine white lines over graphite but I don't know what they are using. All I get is gray or yellow. :(
