Northern Nevada, astride the "49er trail
Good morning artists and others.

Hubby and I had a productive weekend. I am getting the greenhouse organized.

I got Wiseguy out of his pen again yesterday and he was still Mr. Jumpy so no cart.

I groomed Nevada while he was loose inside his pen. He was so good.

Then I groomed Wiseguy loose inside his pen.

Really, I just used the stripping comb since they are both shedding.

We met the new neighbors who are very nice. The man likes hunting and bullets and stuff like that and the gal thinks that stuff is boring so we all got along just fine.

That sounds like what I'm getting. I don't know if it will work any better than my white charcoal or chalk but I want to try it anyway. I see these YouTube artists draw fine white lines over graphite but I don't know what they are using. All I get is gray or yellow. :(

I tried Googling it, and one technique for fine white lines is incising. You take a blunt, sharp object, like a darning needle or a knitting needle (not a real sharp point, but a point) and press into the paper. Then you can draw over it, and the pencil will not fill in the incised part. This sounds good, but Imagining it, it sounds like you can't erase if you've drawn by incising.

Another method is to leave the fine line white and draw the dark around it. That sounds difficult if you want a very fine white line.

Also mentioned is using that electric eraser with a very fine point on it.

I didn't see anything at all about a kind of white pencil that could draw over graphite.

I've seen a YouTube vid about incising. I haven't tried it other than to test it and it does work but it would be too much to do on an animal with lots of white hairs. Thanks for reminding me of that technique though. I was hoping to use my electric eraser but the eraser sticks are too soft and don't hold a point but for a second. :(

I haven't found a pencil yet that that will show up white over graphite and I doubt this one I ordered will work either but I had to try it.

One way that might work is to use fixative on the drawing and then go over it with a white charcoal pencil. I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks for searching for me. :)

You should, Terry. I buy a couple of PowerBall tickets a month. Four bucks isn't going to bankrupt me.

I feel it's just throwing money away. The odds are so against you and I really think they are rigged. BF buys a Hit 5 ticket every week plus a couple others and never wins anything.

It's for the fun of it, Terry, a couple of bucks for a chance to win millions. I have won 7 bucks a few times and while I haven't won more than I have spent, the entertainment value has been worth it.

It's not that fun for me knowing the odds of winning. BF loves it though so more power/luck to him. :) If he wins big I get a new Corvette. I'm not holding my breath though.

LOL. If he wins big, he will probably move to Tahiti and take up with one those island girls. I know that I would. :p

Another rainy day. :(

Seattle-Tacoma Radar | Weather Underground

Damn, I'm getting sick of this.

It looks like some clear weather may be coming your way. I guess that's what they meant when I saw Tuesday would be the end of the rain for you. I'm sending sun vibes.

Here, it got a lot colder again, and it snowed off and on today. Nothing to really mention, though on my way to tutoring, it was blowing off the surface of the old snow quite a bit in places.

I agree, Terry. It may not be rigged, but the chances of winning are so slim as to be nearly impossible. I have never bought one of those tickets. I rarely even enter contests, since I never win anything. I guess it's people like me who keep people like you, with more luck, winning.

I don't see any entertainment in losing. Once, when I was at Lake Tahoe at a casino, I played a slot machine. I got really tired of sticking coins in it with nothing in return. I'm just not a gambler. I never win, not even door prizes at small gatherings, so that is part of my reasons.

You can't win if you don't enter. ;)

True, but in the past, I entered things hopefully, only to never win, so I gave up. I can think of 2 things I won in my life. One was a parakeet, the prize for a nature quiz in day camp, and then when I volunteered for a therapeutic riding program, they had some sort of evening event with a door prize, and I won a coffee mug. Those are literally the 2 things I won. I don't count Smokeless Image's gift if you submitted a photo of you using their products, since anyone who did it "won." I've found over the years, that I just never win anything like that. Well, almost never. See the 2 exceptions. Those 2 exceptions were the only times I've won in a long lifetime. OK, I can think of a few horse show ribbons. I guess they count if you count the parakeet, since they aren't based on chance. So if you only consider the chance wins, there was one lonely coffee mug.

 Well maybe your luck will change and you'll win the current Smokeless Image contest. I'm rooting for you or lizzie. I think she posted a few pics too.

It's raining so hard it sounds like bullets hitting my roof and my car is swamped even more. I'll need a canoe to get to my car. :grr:
