The Trumansburg Fair is going on right now, and last year, I went to see the horse pulls. Anyone remember?

Later tonight, I think they'll have fireworks, and as usual, I'll go out into the backyard to catch a glimpse of them over the trees. The fairgrounds is close enough that I can hear the announcer, roaring car engines when they have the demolition derby, and tonight, loud shots that sounded like the fireworks, but must have been a starting gun.

Jer - I'm sure the peeps just meant to be teasing you even if it didn't end up feeling that way. They are a nice bunch.

Great photos, SandySu.

Tritium - It is wonderful to see you here:) Makes me smile.

Day 2 of six busy days in a row is almost over. I'm making chili for the BBQ and then tomorrow we have to kick .... to get everything done!

Good morning gang. I just got up and see there's been an earthquake in the SF area. Hope all is well for you Cindy! And the rest of everyone else out there too, of course.....*need to make strong tea*

Thanks for letting us know. Bill has family in San Francisco. I looked at some sites on the Internet, and it looks like the damage was in Napa and surrounding areas. I couldn't find anything about damage in SF except that they inspected all the bridges and declared them safe. I got an e-mail from a friend in SF, and he said it woke him up. It sounds like SF wasn't as damaged this time as it was in 1989 from the Loma Prieta Quake. I guess further news will filter in as the day progresses. It's still pretty early on the West Coast.

I found this page, about half way down there is a map with blue dots. If you point at the dots in different areas you can see what people have reported from that location. http://earthquake-report.com/2014/0...american-canyon-california-on-august-24-2014/

It takes a minute to load, probably really busy.

Thanks again, Q. I read all the reports from SF. A few people reported things fell, but most just said it woke them up. I doubt there's major damage in SF.

I learned, when I lived out there, not to pile dishes in my dish drainer too precariously. Now I'm back to stacking them like a balancing act. Not in the Bay Area, though. Stack your dishes securely!

Another thing. If you want to live in the Bay Area, it's best not to live in a brick house. It seems brick fares particularly poorly in an earthquake. I lived in a wood frame house in Redwood City, and that creaked and swayed, but it never seemed to get any damage. Maybe I felt more motion from the numerous quakes there, but the house probably held up better than something more rigid.

That was nothing, Q. Didn't even know that's what it was.

Look at Uncle's pic and freeze it at the eyes rolling up - that was about it.

Santa Rosa is about 50 miles north of here. I'll have to check the news to see how bad it got up there. But barely a hint of it down here. Thanks! :thumb:
