Sorry you're fealing punky lizzie. Too bad you can't drink JD. It would help you sleep. :)

I don't know why I can't stay on my feet. I took another tumble last night. My cat was going to puke on my bedroom carpet so I grabbed him and ran to the bathroom (linoleum floor), tripped on the throw rug and landed hard on my left side. Bad shoulder and hip hit pretty hard but at least I didn't squish my cat. LOL! I can't believe I didn't break something but I'm just extra sore today. I scared my cat so bad he forgot to puke.

I ran a couple of errends today, mowed the lawn (I need a rider), gathered a bunch of dead wood for kindling, cut some kindling and finished stacking my firewood. It's time for a break.

Apple Pie hootch turned out pretty good but not as good as Rave's. She said it may need to steep. Ha! It probably won't last that long. :D

It's been so quite here day and night... I love it! :p

Raven's Haven, Indiana
Terry i envy your home, it's very very nice and i'm happy you moved in :) Everything else will be solved, you have time now :)

Want a kid? Say to the officers you bought me at a slave market from a third world country (quite in fashion these days)
Can code assembly, C, microBasic, can use tools, will travel :D :D

Now there's an idea! Wonder why it is that I want all of you guys to move to Indiana?

I don't remember if Rave mentioned this or not but she gave me a blue istick for a housewarming gift. It is soooo cool the it's neck and neck with my Provari. LOL!

She also gave me 2 small mason jars of that apple pie hootch she made. Gawd is that good. I have the recipe and am making some now. I can't wait to try it. It's so smooth and appley that you don't even taste the booze so it kinda sneaks up on you.

I'm so glad that you're enjoying the iStick and the Apple Pie. They're both kinda addictive.

Terry, somehow you've got to add some friction to the pivot the damper handle moves on or the pivot for the damper itself. It may be as simple as a squeeze with a pair of channel locks but it sounds like the draft is pulling it open on you. Remember to open it all the way when you start a fire though to avoid those clouds of smoke.

My back is a little sore. It got used in ways it hasn't been used in a while today. A nice hot shower will fix it up very nicely though.

Triitium, I wonder if they'd recognize an old box camera or old reflex camera as readily? So what are you writing code for?

Hope your back recovers quickly, Awsum.

I wrote code one time for weighing garbage trucks as they enter a garbage dump and again as they exit. The code decided what the dump needed to charge them for the load and printed out a receipt. That was probably the strangest code I ever wrote. And the simplest as well.

Perhaps fore-see-thia predicts a very long and wicked winter.
8-o No! I'm not ready for another one of those.

Sure hope your cold feels better soon, Lizzie. ill.gif

I'm still suffering from a lack of daisies. (lackadaisical) Can't seem to get much of anything done at all.

Your nearest hydrogen bomb.
Jesus Terry you are going to get yourself hurt badly.
Please take long rests and then try to do stuff, there is no rush.

rave i only program embedded stuff, microcontrollers and so on. I am useless on pc's, i have done it but i am no way good at it.
I only want a bed, a plate of food, internet access and an ATF license (fireworks) :D
Then i am at your service LOL :D

Remember what I said this morning about rushing to catch the cat puke. It just isn't worth damaging yourself. That stuff cleans up. I'm sure glad that you weren't broken to bits and that Rowdy wasn't smooshed!

I went out and gathered kindling yesterday too. Want a little advise? Leave the kindling that's close to your house and gather up the stuff that's further away. There will be a lot of times in the winter when you'll need kindling and won't want to schlep it through the snow. Leave the close stuff for those days. This is the voice of experience speaking.

Your damper is like mine, I'm pretty sure. It takes a push of the handle to put it all the way open or all the way closed. I just don't see how it can go all the way open unless it was pushed into that position. :?: Your heat will go up the chimney if it's all the way open unless it is forced into the room by the blower. I open mine all the way to start the fire and then drop it into halfway position after I get a good hot fire going and turn on the blower.

Oh okay. I wrote programs mostly in C Language for use on PC's. Probably I wasn't all that good with it either, but it is like a massive logic puzzle, so it held my interest unless the program was written.

You're not going to find the internet at Terry's right away. That's still a work in progress.

Good advice about the kindling. Thanks.

My damper sounds like yours but it won't stay in the half way position. I just gave up and leave it open all the time while I have a fire burning and have the blower on. I'll mess with it when the fire goes out but so far it hasn't gone completely out yet. :)

Sitting down, facing forward.
Terry, I'm not trying to be insulting, but as we get older, and you have a long ways to go to catch up to me, we don't bounce as well! Watch it, will ya!

My back felt fine this morning so I went out and filled in the hole left from the stump. I guess about a cubic yard or so of dirt, actually kind of a sandy loam around here. I did add a load of aged mulch to it so maybe something will grow there. I've got to get some grass seed tomorrow though, I thought I had the end of a bag in the basement but was wrong.

Back in the "good old days" I wrote a program in BASIC for Commodore 64 that answered the phone on an incoming only alarm line, read the code transmitted, acknowledged receipt of the alarm and looked up the account putting the appropriate information on the display for the dispatcher. That was my one and only venture in to writing anything useful. What a bear that was!

I wrote code in Basic, Basic A, Cobal, Rexx and another I can't remember. I've forgotten all of them.

Okay. *sigh* I'm going to force myself outside while the weather is warm and fine. I need to take a wire brush to the rust on the railing and paint it with rust converter.

But .................. I don't wanna!!! :glare:

I'm done with outside work. I'm just going to putts around the house and hang a very special painting and a coat rack. :)

Double post?? Oh well..

When i was 13 i started with Pascal, Fortran, Cobol, C but i really liked visual basic from microsoft, had a cool interface and goodies. As i grew up i gave them up except C and i got into MCU's with assembly, with the years new compilers and tools emerged so i continued on.

But...but...I never fall and I'm always careful. Maybe Indiana is trying to tell me something.
