The funny part of "aches and pains", for me, is that I ache when sitting or relaxing but when I get moving it all goes away...until I stop again.

Same here. I'm ok as long as I keep moving. It's when I lay down and while I'm sleeping intense back pain creeps in until it wakes me. My hands ache in the morning until I start working them. It'd be real easy to just take it easy because I didn't get any sleep or give my bones a rest but that's the worse mistake I could make. Some days I have to push it to get started and in about a half hour I'm fine. There's a lot of people my age that are semi invalid so I really feel blessed to be able to do what I do and wear people half my age out trying to keep up with me lol.

Yeah, the motivation to get moving can be hard to find sometimes. I just got up and did some little stuff in the house and feel a little less sore already. Wuzz, you might want to look into a new mattress, although they're more like buying a car nowadays.

I sleep on an air mattress, and it was cheaper than anything solid. If you want, you can toss it on top of a bed, or even box springs.

What kind of air mattress? I've found they get leaks and I can never find them to patch them. I should probably get a better quality one, but I want to know what works before I spend a lot. I'd like to have one I could inflate for guests, then deflate to put away. Would that work with yours?

I hear you, folks. The aches and pains aren't too noticeable when you are moving. It is once you stop, they really kick in. Hence the motto, "Never stop moving."

Of course, over doing it isn't really good either. The body needs rest.

We bought a new mattress just after we moved into this house, about five years ago now. We looked at air mattresses and I found one, online, that had heavy rubber bladders instead of the typical plastic ones. We ended up getting a custom made one from the place that makes them for the White House. Medium firm, horsehair and it weighs a ton so "flipping" it take two people. It's holding up really well and should for the price. We had a "memory foam" prior to this one and it was great for about a year, then went downhill in a rush. The memory foams can't be "flipped" to even out the wear so your stuck when they start to go.

We also have a queen sized "Aero Bed" that we use for guests and when we travel. It can be "bouncy" but is also really comfortable and gives good support.

Next time, if there is a next time, we will get an air bed.

That is what I bought. I also bought a pump with it. Wal-Mart. No holes, yet. Definitely not a pool-raft.

Got one less than six months old I sleep on if I start hurting so I don't wake anyone. Also a sleep number I an adjust without even getting up. It's definitely not a mattress problem. It's a result of the kind of work I've done and a couple of accidents.

The really good ones are the ones that are made for RV's...

I hear you there, Wuzz. I screwed my back up with a sneeze, 30 years ago, and have had problems ever since. The Sleep Number idea is great, but why does it need Bluetooth to my smartphone, not that I have a smartphone anyway, so I can see how I slept last night and so can anyone else who wants to hack in? I will say going to the chiropractor on a monthly basis has helped me a lot and if I get too out of kilter I'll go in between scheduled visits.

Hiya Folks,

Once again, I return. But then, don't I always?

First off: Congratulations on your Vaperversary, Wuzz. I didn't have time with everything goin' on to do up anything special for you. Just know that I love ya, 'kay?

Tritium: If you're still hangin' out with us lurking - I love you too and only wish the best for you. Sure hope that things turn around for you soon. Sometimes it's darkest just before the dawn.

Happy Belated Mother's Day too!

Can't remember who said it, but you're right: I am lucky to have such a great friend in Terry. Some people "complete" you, y'know what I mean? I couldn't have a better friend.

I simply can't remember what else is going on here because my brain is a muddy mess.

Thank you all for your condolences. I have five siblings, and have been lucky that I haven't lost any of them before now. I've come to terms with her passing, just not the circumstances which caused it. The hospital was at fault in an extremely inhumane manner. What I've been told is that she was scheduled for surgery but the doctor couldn't be contacted to tell them what anesthesia to use and there was no doctor on call - so they didn't use any. Then they returned her to her room after the surgery and didn't change her gown or bedding - both soaked with sweat from the pain of the procedure that fused her plural lining to her lungs. They had to fix that before they could repair the hole in her heart. Anyhow, the nurses would not answer the Call Button to help her. She finally got ahold of her husband who contacted their daughter to bring him to the hospital to get the nurses to change her bedding and gown. Her heart gave out almost immediately after. Her husband ended up having to be hospitalized from the stress of the whole thing. I'm not a litigious person, but this hospital has to be held accountable for killing her in such a cruel way.

I probably shouldn't have written all of that here, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this. I'm okay ... just furious. We're waiting for her husband to get better, and then the rest of us siblings want to sue the hospital for her husband. I think that we need to do it for him, but the lawsuit will have to be in his name by law ... I think.

Looks like it's getting ready to storm like crazy here, so I'd better send this and go.

 Ah, thanks Rave. That's so nice to hear and you know it goes both ways. :toast:

I think it was Semi that you were quoting. :)

You already know how I feel about your sister's situation so I won't post my anger here. :grr:

Sitting down, facing forward.
afternoon, Volties.

Nice to see you back, Rave. As far as that hospital goes it seems to be the "norm" anymore. I have an old friend who was hospitalized then into a rehab from a fall and congestive heart failure, he's in his late 70's. Anyhow, they sent him home with a walker and wheelchair and a home health aid. He was fine for two days then got incoherent. His wife loaded him into the car and took him to Columbia University Hospital in NYC. They immediately diagnosed pneumonia. Three days of the right treatment and he's back to his old self. It seem medical technology is advancing while the overall quality of medical care is falling.

I had a sort of crappy morning. I am scheduled for a regular physical at the end of this month so I went for blood work on Friday. I've learned not to go at 7 when they open, but 8 or 8:30 is great, no mobs. I got there Friday and there wasn't an empty seat in the waiting room, about 50 seats, so I walked out. It must be soccer or lacrosse season 'cause it looked like a locker room full of young'uns. I went this morning, again at 8, and this time there were only about ten people, all adults, there when I got there, much better.

Something must have changed is the only thing I can assume. The rate at which people got called was glacial, about one every ten minutes and that was with three people doing the "check-in" paperwork. So I ended up there for over an hour before getting called. The paperwork took forever and there's nothing different, same suite of tests I've had every time I go there, same me and same insurance. One thing I did notice was that I had to initial the final form to acknowledge the basics, name, address, phone and such, were all correct. I guess our medical system is "advancing" yet again.

After that, since I was out in the right direction, I ran down to Lowes in Maple Shade to pick up a landscaper rake. The local store didn't have it in stock, so I followed the directions supplied by the Lowes site. It took me west on Route 38, down 295 south one exit, onto Route 73 north, then to the store. When I left the store I left through the Route 38 east exit. Route 38 ends about a mile from our house. Ain't technology swell? Their route actually was longer and had more traffic, duhhhh. My own fault, I should have looked at the map.
