Great looking pup WV. We had a Rottie before we got our wolf/dog and I agree. Those short hairs would actually stick in our feet if we stepped on them on a hard floor sometimes. That biting is the way wolves communicate and play so we're used to it. Jeb never outgrew it and probably never will.
He still bites on my hands, but not hard like he used to when he was little, and he likes to put my hand in his mouth for just a second.
My rottie was a good boy, and man do I still miss him....he was a rescue/buy sort of thing when we got him.
I would love to see your wolf/dog :)

moanin, Voltville.

We always had a dog when I was a child. The first was a collie, Lassie was the big thing back then. Talk about shedding and brushing! Most were mutts after that and all of them were smaller to medium sized. Bo is my first experience with a giant breed other than being around a few Saint Bernards over the years.

There are times I scratch my head and ask why did we get such a big dog, other than Mrs. Awum wanted a big dog, like an Akida or Husky. Imagine your devoted dog following you around all day, into the kithen, while you brush your teeth, to sit at your feet while your on the couch and while you're working outside. No imagine what that means when your devoted buddy is about five feet long and a foot and a half wide and a foot or so high when he lays down in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room and as you're trying to work outside. I don't call him a speed bump, he's an out and out traffic hazard!

My german rottie followed me that close always :) sometimes he would literally walk on my heals! Lol He was so sweet :) I plan to one day getting another one, because my Ram was such a joy. What breed is Bo?

Bo is a South African Boerboel. The breed was just recognized by the AKC this year as a matter of fact. Boerboel means "farm dog" in South African and they were bred to work with the livestock and protect from any predator. He follows me pretty closely all day and I've got to be careful when wearing sandals or they can come off when he gets a little too close. Thankfully, he's actually gentle for his size and the only thing he chews is his bones, nylabones, because a ham shank only lasts him about ten minutes.

He is beautiful! I have never heard of that breed. I love big dogs. They are great to hug on :)

Here' one for scale. I'm 6' 1" and he comes up to mid thigh on me -

We stumbled on the breed at the local shelter and looked it u on line. The thing that sold us was a photo of one laying on the floor, a baby playing with his ears and a parrot sitting on his head looking like "oh well". He's like that unless someone he doesn't know comes on the property or to the door, if he's in the house. Then look out...160 pound missile with really big teeth is heading your way.

What a sweetheart! I do not know if it is his size or the shape of his hanging lips or lovong eyes but he reminds me of my Ram :)

Northern Nevada, astride the "49er trail
Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

We went wood cutting yesterday. Hubby cut down a tree that was so big it filled up two trailers with wood:) Pics later.

I mostly sat in the truck and read a book.

We got rain again!!!!! Loving it.

On the way home from woodcutting in the mountains, our windshield wiper broke. Luckily, we made it to Yerington. Then, we found out the Napa was closed. Hubby was trying to jerry rig the wiper but then I thought "Hey, let's see if there is another parts store in town."

Gotta love the cell phone. There was another parts store and they were open. And, it was only a few businesses down from where we were. Hubby got our new wiper blades and we managed to get home even though it was raining.

Bo is certainly a handsome fellow.

Ram, what a big ole smiley face.

That's his "glamor" shot, or the "Boggie" look.
Looks like a sensitive caring guy trying to look tough. If he were human, I would find that sexy. I love the big dogs, but have trouble handling them on a leash. They tend to try to drag me around. When I get a dog, it will be a little one.

moanin, Volties.

One of the first "tests" for Bo, before we adopted him, was to see if he walked on a leash well. I'm big enough and strong enough to handle most any dog, but Mrs. Awsum is a lot smaller and doesn't have the upper body strength of a man which is a nice thing. She walked him around the lot where we met him with no problem at all. Turns out he had been well trained by the original owners. He has only "bolted" twice on her, once for a squirrel and once for a ground hog. He has learned not to bolt for them if he is on a leash, off leash is a whole other thing though, LOL.

Well I am very envious, especially with all this talk about everyone's family members and the pictures . . . SO I thought I would share too . . . Long story short - "My" last great Buddy was over 30 years ago . . . He allowed "Me" to adopt him from the Northshore Animal League in NYC . . . His name was "Muffongo" (WHAT ? ? ? I know - I know - "My" Partner at the time named him, it is Latin for "Muffin" . . .) . . . One of the interesting things about the adoption, is that even though there were so many others there which were extremely Friendly and Fun to play with and that so wanted "Me" to adopt them . . . He was very shy and the only one just sitting in the back of the "playpen" looking up at "Me" with those eyes - So I just couldn't resist . . . AND - So glad I didn't, "Muffin" was just as much Fun (if not more so) and one of the best roommates and Friend that anyone could have asked for . . .

BTW: It turned out that he was actually a purebred English Cocker Spaniel too . . . :D

Just wish I could accept the responsibility again . . . I would definitely adopt . . . Just Sayin' . . .
