Here's a puzzle for you all I got it from the book I just finished reading, Blink. It was an interesting book, and I liked it better than the reviews on Amazon would have led me to believe.

A father and his son were in a serious car accident. The father was killed, and the son was rushed to the hospital. When he got there and the doctor saw him, the doctor said, "OMG! That's my son!" Who was the doctor?

Once you've all had a chance to figure out the answer, I'll tell you and explain what this puzzle is all about.

I remember hearing this a while ago... I believe the doctor was his mother.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I think the doctor is the boy's Grandfather.

I was going to rant, too, Wabbit. Now the wonderful US government has closed the ocean. No, I'm not kidding. They have closed the ocean around Everglades National Park. Can our elected officials and those they appoint get anymore stupid?

I was going to post another rant about an article in our local newspaper (rag), but I got 1/2 way through and decided not to bore all of you with political rhetoric.

Today's Mood - .....y with a chance of Sarcasm

Wabbit

Wouldn't you be happier if you didn't read the paper?

You're right! I didn't get it, nor did Bill. We came up with the idea it was a stepfather. The point is that we are sexist, even when we don't think we are, and our snap judgment is that a woman can't be a doctor. It shows how prejudices can get in the way of rational thinking.

I'd move to Canada if it wasn't so cold up there!

That's why I remembered it. When I first heard it, no one came up with the answer right away because in our mind, we associate the medical profession with males.

Wrong. I said the boy was the son, not the grandson of the doctor. This is an example of how subconsciously, we can't believe a woman can be a doctor, even though we know better.

Remember that site I mentioned a while ago, where they did a test online to figure out the test-taker's prejudices? Even if we intellectually believe we aren't prejudiced, we are on an unconscious level. It's humbling, isn't it? They had people take the race test, and even blacks were prejudiced against their own race! This is because our society at large is prejudiced, and some of this is absorbed by everyone. We can overcome these prejudices, but first, we have to be aware of them.

Do you think the Canadian government doesn't have problems, too? I bet every country does. Sure, it seems like right now, our country is going through a bad time, but I have faith that we'll all recover. I think the divisiveness and unwillingness to compromise is hurting everyone. Maybe it had to come to a head so we can figure out how to fix it, like some kind of ugly infection that needs to rupture to get better. Then again, maybe I'm just an optimist.

Well folks the day has actually gotten MUCH Better. The dentist was on time exactly at 1:45 PM and just smoothed off the edge of my tooth where evidently a small piece of the filling busted off. Not enough to damage the total filling, which was solid and intact. Also NO CHARGE! WHAT  He told me The Affordable Care Act took care of it. Then said, just kidding  Still NO CHARGE.

When I got back home my Wizard Labs vape mail had arrived so I mixed up the Dragons Blood Clone and Pluid Clone. Here are my thoughts:

Dragons Blood Clone:
10% Dragon Fruit
4% Strawberry
2% Bavarian Cream
1% Sweet Cream
3% Vanilla Swirl
1% Cotton Candy

Essentially a mild strawberry flavor with slight undertones of sweet cream (very slight)
Very little aftertaste but quite sweet. Will let steep and test again later.

Edit: Cut the strawberry down and maybe add orange.

[BPluid][/B]

18.9% Absinthe
5% Horehound
1.6% Smooth
1% Orange
Extremely strong Absinthe with licorice, overpowering and not at all pleasant. Aftertaste of horehound like cough drops and licorice. No orange taste at all. I will let this steep of course, but if it remains this strong, I will need to dilute everything at least 50% or more. I doubt I will ever like Pluid if it tastes anything like this clone recipe.

Edit: I diluted 5 ML of my Pluid Clone with 5 ML of 50/50 PG/VG and it is not much better. If you like licorice this would be OK, but most of my blends have no after taste. This leaves a strong licorice aftertaste. Not to my liking.

I also bought some Toasted Almond, but need to research recipes.

Awsum, I have been dripping Dragons Blood all afternoon and it is pretty good, but NOT tobacco by any means. It is sweet and the 4% strawberry comes through a little strong for me. The next batch I plan to substitute orange rather than strawberry to test it out. Forget the Pluid. I did a lot of reading and it definitely is a licorice tasting e-liquid, which I will probably never enjoy. The Absinthe is the licorice tasting flavor and personally 18% is WAY too high. I am going to dilute my current mix 50% with plain PG/VG and see what happens.

Edit: Diluted at 50% it is still not good. This is one that will sit in my "steeping" bin for quite some time to be revisited next year.

So he is harvesting the trees for you, and you will even make some money off of it?

Yes. He is a trusted neighbor that I've know for about 25 years. He wouldn't rip me off. And yeah - I'll probably get some good money out of all of this. I'd rather have the trees.

Rave, what kinds of wood are you talking about, if it is going to be used for anything other than firewood? (Now that would hurt!)

It's mostly poplar, but there is some elm, ash, hickory, and red oak. It will bring a lot more profit than firewood. Mine is an old growth forest. It's never been cut. This will mostly go for lumber which will pay by board length. The lumber that is too doughty will be used for making pallets.

Back at everyone this AM. I was just too lazy to post anything last night. I lost a part of one of my fillings, so I have a Dentist appointment at 1:45 today. What fun!

Lots of "commentators" talk about the evils of computers, smart phones and the lack of actual human interaction versus just computer interaction, however having additional friends like the folks in Voltville actually help to enlarge a persons circle of world wide contacts and allow an almost instantaneous outlet and platform on which to unburden some of your frustrations and problems. That will be 5 cents please.

Take vaping for example. How many of us have friends close by that we can chat about vaping face to face? Not Me! I get all of my chit chat about this hobby from you all on ECF. I would never have learned anything about e-cigarettes had it not been for the Internet and ECF and Voltville. I would never have learned that Australia was so hot, or that Indiana had such beautiful streams and wooded glades.

Friends are friends wherever you find them either by the old pen pal method, smart phone method, computer method or face to face.

End of Rant or whatever you want to call it.

Lurking, drinking coffee, and of course vaping.

The Wabbit

Can I get an "AMEN!"

I can't add anything to what you've already said so articulately.

I am down loading photos to Photobucket from my last two trips but it is taking a long time. It didn't help that NOrton kicked in to download an update while I am doing the download of the photos.

YAY! Can't wait to see some of them. You will share, right? :)

Our area is under a tornado thread until 5pm. It's dreary and windy but just an occasional sprinkle right now. The rain will increase as the day goes on.

Hopefully, you will be safe from the storms this evening.

One option is to just leave the computer on while you're gone. If it's like my computer, after a while of nonuse, the screen goes blank and then when you get home, you can wake the computer up again. Everything will be downloaded w/o you having to wait for it. My brother, the computer expert, leaves his computers on all the time. I turn mine off and on. He says leaving the computer on burns about the same electricity that leaving a light on would, so it's not a big deal to do it every once in a while. Still, I turn my computer off most of the time when I'm leaving the house. I unplug it, too, in case there's a surprise thunderstorm. However, I have left the computer on while I'm gone, and no harm done.

Wait ... hold up ... you mean that computers can be turned off!! Unthinkable!!

Glad things went well at the dentist, Wabbit! And Yippee to "No Charge"!

I also hope that Mrs. Awsum's back feels better soon.

Sandy - I really enjoy your photos. The one with the deer was especially great.
