Hiya Voltville!

Holy Cow! No wonder my ears have been ringing. You folks sure do talk about me a lot!

I've been "recovering" from a major overload of humanity this weekend. This may sound weird to many of you, but I have trouble with too many people at once. Of course, there was my son and his fiance, then add two of their friends - a husband and wife visiting from Wisconsin for the whole weekend. Now add in my daughter and her husband and my BF. I almost spontaneously combusted on Saturday, but my BF knew how to distract me in a positive way. He brought his drill press. [cue angel chorus on high singing] I had fun working on my mod/PV holder over the weekend. That pretty much saved my sanity along with the company and encouragement of a good friend. I survived the overload relatively unscathed. Did need an extra day after the weekend all by myself in order to regain my ...... ease. That probably sounds incredibly odd. But, it's how I'm built.

Anyhow, I'm back. And before I reply to some of the posts that I've read (and yes, I do back read - every word), I'll show some very short videos that were taken from one of the Trail Cams just cuz y'all might enjoy them.

I think I can only get one video in a post.

Good morning, Rave. I'm sorry you had too many people this weekend. I bet you'll be glad when your son has his own place built!

I loved your trail cam videos. That first deer came close to the camera to show you how he poops.

As for the leaping, deer certainly don't move like horses! They seem to have springs in the soles of their hooves.

It's neat that you caught a fox. Are they rare there?

And I'm wondering if you see what I do in Terry's squirrel drawing. Am I hallucinating? Reality check, please?

Now I don't feel as bad - it happens to "Me" all the time . . . Worse tho, is once Ya' respond to those post they stay "checked" until Ya' go back and have to uncheck each one of them . . .

And finally, this one. I'm just so happy to have caught him on camera that I could squeak!! :D

Great vid captures Rave. That must be exciting to see what you've caught on disk.

I'm glad you survived your weekend. I figured you'd need at least 1 day to recover. Glad to see you back. :)

Well he just climbed out of the water so he may just be checking out the ice flow or berg to see if it's safe but it was a photo so he could be looking at the photographer.

I see this as being the most correct. Any animal going from one environment to another is going to scope out the environment that was just entered for safety. Then he's gonna shake off that water like a golden retriever!

I got the impression he was climbing out of the water, his front paw is not even touching the ground yet. So, to me, it would seem in the next few seconds he will start shaking the water off, maybe his head is already turning to start the process.

Either that, or he is looking at the ground and thinking, "Hey! Who took my Coke?"

I think it would be a good time to do the background. Then you can have the mane and tail flowing into the background instead of having to color the background in tight places. Just my :2c:

Personally - whenever I do a painting, I start with the furthest thing away and work my way forward. 'Course, I'm working in oils. That may be way different from pastels, charcoal, and pencil. But, it gives the piece depth. I can make fine hair on top of the background and not have to noodle it in afterwards.

My dad was Mr. FixIt and an electrician. I definitely took over where he left off, cuz now I'm always the one getting drafted for DIY projects (big ones going on right now).

Yuck, drywall! I HATE finishing/repairing drywall! :grr:

My sentiments exactly. That's one thing that I avoid like the plague cuz I really stink at it.

I just bought a set of 5 color shapers (gray) from eBay. I think the softer white ones may work better, and I have a bid in on them, too. There's a while till bidding on them is over, so we'll see if I get them, too. I'll let you know how they work. They are coming from China, so it'll take a while till they get here.

Might take quite awhile to get to you. There's a loooooong Chinese holiday that begins on 1/24. Unless they make it out of the country before then, you may have quite a wait ahead of you.

That settles it. When I start up on Gabe again, I'm going to do the background. I have the main horse outline and some color on it, so I have started on that, but I can stop and do the background and then put the mane in over that. However, I think with pastels, I have to be more careful of a background color showing through. I found this out trying to do that with Corky's mane on the 2nd picture of him. It was very hard to get white over the blue. So I may have to fill in the colors I want in the foreground but I can save the details till last.

I survived the gun show. :toast: It wasn't bad at all because there weren't very many people there so it wasn't crowded or noisy. The reason for that I think was because it was the 2nd day of the show and the big game was yesterday. YAY Seahawks. I had to say that since they are from my home state. :D

I didn't buy a gun but I did get something for BF. We haven't gone shooting because we haven't had anything fun to shoot at so I got him this...

I liked it because you don't have to go and stand it up after you hit it. And it's small and comes apart in 2 pieces so it lays flat and doesn't take up much room. My .380 won't knock it over but at least I'll hear if I hit it. I'm just hoping that his .45 doesn't blow a hole in it. The one I got is bright yellow and can be repainted after we shoot off all the paint. LOL!

After the show my brothers treated me to the Olive Garden for lunch. The food and service was great! We all had a good time. :)

YAY!! You survived! I'm glad that it wasn't too miserable for you. :D Really cool tumbling target!!

They shipped the other day, and they say they are supposed to arrive somewhere between Jan. 29 and Feb. 6.
