Other than SI products  I don't splurge on much of anything. My needs are minimal. I have very simple pleasures and I'm easily amused.

So Reptilr - Are you wanting the snow? Will you go skiing?

I have no idea how non-coffee people jump start themselves in the morning. I'm a zombie 'til mine kicks in.

Good morning Volties. I hope most of ya are sleeping in. :)
I only drink coffee when I have to go to work. When I don't, I jump on my HealthRider for 10 minutes. :)
Plus, it warms me up. I hate being cold in the mornings. Makes me wanna crawl back into bed!

And Semi, if you're really as sleepy as that pic looks, why'd you get up so early?:laugh:

Glad to find out about her cookbooks. I already substitute Splenda for sugar and I'm working on lower carbs, but need to get more fat out of my diet.

I checked out her books on Amazon and ordered one. The one I ordered is Super So Fat, Low Fat, No Fat. I like that her recipes use everyday ingredients instead of that exotic stuff you don't have and can't find. lol

Thank you, Lilac! This sounds like just the cookbook I was looking for.
I've been reading up a little on Xylitol too (natural sugar substitute from birch trees). Good for your teeth! :thumb:

Rave, aside from peanut butter, bleu cheese dressing, and the whole nature thing (I'm allergic - I literally break out in hives), we're so much alike that it's starting to scare me a little bit...but suddenly, I'm feeling a lot more cool! :thumb:

 But - "the whole nature thing" is like 95% of me.

Cindy, you always have been cool. You just didn't realize it. The rest of us do. :)

aaaawwww!

No, there's a little more to your character than just "the whole nature thing..."
To me that's just where you live. I would be very itchy there!
But I'm an environmentalist at heart.

Be happy you HAVE some!
Try living on Ramen.

trust me, I'm grateful,,,,a year ago, November, my husband lost his job,,,,,I made less than 200 bucks a week at that time,,,,,by some MIRACLE of God, he got his job back in 4 days (they just couldn't make it on the number of guys they had left after laying off half,,,,so they had to take back several more,,,he was one of them). But we still lived on buttered noodles for months because we were lucky if he got 32 hours a week. Still, we ate, and we paid the mortgage, which is all I cared about at that point

My wife left her job last year to be home for the kids more. Plus her boss was a maniac, she was on the verge of a heart attack and had a panic attack.

She left a $2000 a month income and health insurance. I had no idea of how we would make it.

We ended up getting even more into coupons than I already was, fired my workers and started having her and My 15 year old son come to work with me 2-3 days a week. Luckily, my son does virtual high school through the local school board (it's not home schooling per say) so he gets to set his own schedule.

It was the only way to make it. Now my grocery bill for a family of 5 is about $100 a month including food, toilet paper, shampoo, laundry detergent, and anything else you can think of.

The only thing that is bad is she has no health insurance. But we are totally blessed. Kids are healthy and she has a better relationship with them. Being a blended family because we were both previously divorced and bothmhavencustody of our kids, we felt that was very important.

Now, we only eat what I can get on sale with coupons and buy one get one, but we get by. And that includes lots of ramen noodles that I get for free when they are on sale, but we at least survive. The quitting of analogs has really helped. I never realized until I quit, how much I was spending. $70-$80 a week, and I always got them on sale. When you are paying by the pack, you don't notice it as much as the $300 electric bill

I have ordered Xylitol from Xylitol USA. It's kind of expensive...about $5 per lb., but it looks and tastes just like actual sugar. I have Stevia in my pantry, but for some reason I don't like it very much.

That's about how much I pay for Target branded Splenda, which lasts me a really long time! I'll have to look into getting some of that next time...

I didn't like Stevia either (tasted funny to me), and it cost even more!
