Thanks for the coffee. Seems like we are going to have a beautiful WARM sunny day with temps in the 70s FINALLY! Hope it last longer than one day. :)

Are you going to get some goldfish for your pond? You'll have to take a picture when you're finished. I really would love to see that. :2cool:

Although goldfish would be great, I'm afraid they wouldn't last long with Junior the barn cat running around the yard:) So, no goldfish.

Oh I forgot about your cat! Would he be able to get to them though? I thought most cats hate water... but maybe not if they were on a hunting mission.

I was wondering that, too. I think it might depend on how deep the fish pond is. If the fish could go deep enough to avoid the cat's paws, then they might dart away, as fish do, when the cat reached for one. I think the cat might reach a paw into the water, but I doubt he'd jump in after the fish. But here's a new one. When I was visiting my brother, we watched a blue heron visit the neighbors across the street, who had a fish pond. The heron had been decimating the fish population, so the neighbors put a net across the top of the pond to keep the heron out. Of course, a net over your pond might detract from the beauty. I wonder if you could get a sort of invisible net. Anyway, this heron was flying down to see if the net might be gone and if perhaps this time he could snag a fish. Sort of unusual in a suburban neighborhood, though I see lots of herons down by the lakes in this area. Still, I haven't seen them in a neighborhood where there's not wetlands nearby. Maybe there are wetlands near my brother's house, and I just don't know about them.

nor cal
Thanks! San Francisco is among my favorite cities on the planet and I love Cali in general. My goal is to move out there inside of 5 years. There are certainly worse places to be than DC or MD but the weather an people in Nor Cal are both awesome. Great state. I've been keeping up the the vaping legislation, it'll break my heart if it goes through.

I live about 80 miles east of San Francisco. I don't go into the city that much, but when I do I always enjoy it. I love living here for the weather. Can't beat it. Mild winters and sunny all summer long. Hope your dreams come true to move out to the west coast!

That's me, a space cadet!

Hey Lizzie check into the X-10 system. You could remote control the pump from anywhere in or around the house and no trench needed, assuming power is already there. They have modules that will handle up to a 20 amp inductive load, so switching a pump is no problem.

I have no idea what the X-10 system is but my first thought was "How will a new bigger battery help me on this?" I have vaping on the brain.

hows spot going lizzie...? give him a hug from me....

Did you ever find that lizard, Deb? That would be my MIL nightmare - to live in a home with a lizard in it. She is afraid of lizards:)

Spot looks happy this morning and he is eating okay so he'll polish off his meal and lay in the sun for awhile.

So the vet is at our house and I take him back to look at the goat. I tell him the best way to do this is get a dog in there. So I bring Rusty [Penny barks too much]. The goats run up on the goat toy. Rusty sits when I ask him to. Don't you love a plan that comes together? So, the goats are all lined up on the goat toy. I get Spot's front end in a hammer lock and the vet goes around to the other end. Obie and Taffy are pills of course. They start trying to nibble the vets hat. I hang on to Spot with one arm while I smack Obie on the nose a bit and tell him bad goat. He quits but Taffy comes in for the nibble so I smack him on the nose, too. "Bad goat!" Taffy backs off but Obie makes another move for the hat. "Bad, goat!"

Fortunately the vet's hat didn't suffer any damage. He had on one of those nice cowboy hats that cost like $40. He was a nice man. He'll be back out in the fall for another check up on the little horsey.

Having the goats seems like having kids!

I have no idea what the X-10 system is but my first thought was "How will a new bigger battery help me on this?" I have vaping on the brain.

The X10 system is a home automation system. There are modules, switches, outlets and various plug-in or screw-in adapters that let you use a remote control to turn lights or appliances on or off. It does need a receiver, plug-in, and a transmitter (remote). The remotes come in plug-in or hand held. It actually uses the house wiring to send signals from the receiver to the modules so you can control things. I installed it here on the lighting we use most of the time and the outside floods. From my bed I can turn on anything or everything and we have portable remotes to be able to do that from anywhere in the house.

As an example, there's a floodlight on the shed about 60 feet from the house. We can turn it on or off from the house even though the switch for it is inside the locked shed. We can also turn on the floodlights from the car as we come up the driveway so they don't get left on or need an infrared detector, that "falses" all the time, to turn them on when we come home in the dark.

I'm not advertising for them, but here's a URL to if you're interested - Hot Deals from X10

It can trigger by itself once in a while, but you can get around that by changing the "house code". Some of the communications that the power companies use is similar to what they use and it can interfere until you find the right setup. It took me three tries, but we haven't had a problem in two years with things turning on by themselves. I had a problem with the front porch light coming on, by itself, at about six every day. I just changed the "house code" until it stopped happening.

One of the other advantages is that any switch can immediately become a three-way switch. They sell a wall mount remote, that looks like a wall switch, that lets you add a switch anywhere you need one, with no extra wiring at all. Overall, it's really handy.

@(*$^#%! solar project! I was drilling more holes to get a "clean" cut for the new sump basin using a Skil Extra Tool that I bought back in the 70's. It's, or was, a combination drill, hammer drill, hammer, that was the first of its kind. As I was drilling the chuck actually twisted off the drill body, no it didn't come unscrewed, the shaft broke. Now I've either got to buy a new hammer drill or rent one. AAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH

I saw where Cindy was hoping for SI to carry tanks and cartos. I have been vaping carto tanks for a couple of months now. I love the flavors and vapor, however they can be finicky. I would NOT recommend the type of tank that has a filler plug. They are messy and have air leak problems. I also would not recommend investing in those very expensive $40 or $50 tanks they will not work any better than the inexpensive ones, nor last longer. Tanks must keep some semblance of a vacuum, otherwise they will leak or flood the carto. That is one of the finicky items. The other is filling. You must be very careful not to overfill, or spill your juice. Once you get the hang of filling, it is very easy and clean. You need to clean the tanks at least every other refill and make sure when changing to a new carto to prime it, then let it sit in the full tank for at least 10 minutes, otherwise you will burn your coil and ruin the carto. My smoktech double pre-punched cartos last anywhere from 2 to three weeks before they have a hard draw and either need to be cleaned or replaced. Personally I love the Artemus Tanks from Madvapes or Nature Vapers because they lock the carto onto the tank so it can't move. I have 4 now and thy work great, fill easily, and so far have not leaked at all, even on the cruise, when packed up in a suitcase. They will however flood if you have an extreme temperature change or if you take them on an airplane. Never carry a full tank on a plane. The pressure changes will make the tank leak all over the place. End of lecture. :toast:

As long as we're talking tanks, Kanger has discontinued the T3 and replaced it with the T3S. The bases are not interchangeable, from what I can gather, but the T3S coil is a separate piece, screws into the base, making it a lot less expensive. I wonder how this will effect SI with their T3?

I hope Kanger makes them similar to the Evod. Only the head is replaced in the Evod, not the entire base and they come 5 in a pack. Having a device with the larger capacity of the T3 and being able to just replace the heads could be a winner. The Evod has a tighter draw too and hopefully the draw will be better with the new T3S.

ZZ - Interesting story. I'm allergic to alcohol so never been one of my vices. I won't tell you what my vices were:) except that I loved smoking. Nice story about getting off the ciggies with Volt. Good for you on giving up drinking and smoking.

As for skydiving, heck, I get vertigo roofing the shed so I am definitely not going skydiving.

].

I'm allergic to alcohol too. It causes me to break out in really big spots.

Like Atlanta, New Orleans, Las Vegas.......

"Now how the heck did I get here?"

Stealing a little of Wabbits thunder -

My Side Of The Story

Upon arriving home, a husband was met at the door by his sobbing wife.
Tearfully, she explained, "It's the druggist. He insulted me terribly
this morning on the phone.
"Immediately the husband drove downtown to confront the druggist and
demand an apology.

Before he could say more than a word or two, the druggist
told him, "Now, just a minute, listen to my side of it.
This morning the alarm failed to go off, so I was late
getting up. I went without breakfast and hurried out to the car, just to
realize that I locked the house with both house and car keys inside. I
had to break a window to get my keys.

Then, driving a little too fast, I got a speeding ticket. Later, when I
was about three blocks from the store, I had a flat tire. When I finally
got to the store there was a bunch of people waiting for me to open up.
I got the store opened and started waiting on these people, and all the
time the darn phone was ringing off the hook."

He continued, "Then I had to break a roll of nickels
against the cash register drawer to make change, and
they spilled all over the floor.

I got down on my hands and knees to pick up the nickels;
the phone was still ringing nonstop.

When I came up I
cracked my head on the open cash drawer which
made me stagger back against a showcase with a bunch
of expensive perfume bottles on it. Half of them hit the
floor and broke.

Meanwhile, the phone is still ringing with no let up, and
I finally got back to answer it.

It was your wife. She wanted to know how to use a rectal thermometer.

And believe me Mister, as God is my witness, all I did was
tell her!"

That's one thing I haven't tried yet but I'm curious about. From your experience, which is best to get and from where? Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

I much prefer the mini T3s over the big boys. Also, rub a little candle wax over a couple of the holes to improve the draw. If two is too much, just poke it out with a pin. :)

JoAnn, I can't see myself EVER using any other cartos but SI's. Tanks seem to be pretty standard - of course, Pyrex would be great, but I'd be OK with the cheapo plastic ones - just haven't officially gone that route yet, because my money is at SI (prize winnings). Plus it's a drag that they usually come with 510 DCT cartos that I can't use and considerably ups the price. I tried making one and it worked great (so I know I'd love a real one), but I did a really crappy quickie job and it didn't last. If you're looking to use them with your 510 stuff, I hear that SmokTech (the one that just about everybody sells) is a good place to start, just to try it out (before you get into all that DIY punching and stuff).

On the T3s, I've already plugged 2 of the holes and I use 80/20 juice. Just never got a decent draw until now (that I've extended the wicks). Still not quite there, but at least I don't cuss at it anymore. Liquid gets used up quite a bit faster, so I know it made some kind of difference.

Cindy, I've been replacing those wicks with some 2mm wick I have around. It seems to cure the gurgle without effecting the amount of vapor or flavor. You can always get a standard tank and use SI XL cartos in it, that's what they are actually made for. You would need to punch a hole in them, but that's a pretty standard thing for catro tanks from what I've seen.
