Yes to bill you as much as possible before a permanent solution is protocol I think.

Yep, I agree Vermonster. I've asked them pull them all before and put some better teeth in there and they look at me like I've lost my mind.

I've never been all that fond of my teeth. They're not terribly strong and come from a line of people with really bad teeth. I definitely took after my dad that way although he still has most of his teeth whereas my mom has had a ton of hers pulled.

Yeah, I've got a crack in a filling too that they're wanting to crown. I'm doing my darnedest to wait until I have a little better dental insurance. They said as long as I'm not having sensitivity, it can probably wait a bit. Honestly, I wouldn't know what sensitivity is. I have some seriously high pain tolerance and have been known to wait entirely too long before going to the doctor.

I think that was my problem. Plus I was suppose to get antibiotics before they started the work - would have been nice if they'd mentioned it to me. The girl at the desk dropped the ball. I've had some cold sensitivity in that tooth but no pain. Went for a routine clean & check because we do have dental (for now) and the x-ray showed the abscess.

Pain tolerance: I only had an epidural with son1 because they talked me into it - I delivered 7 min later - I'd ALREADY been through transition but the arses hadn't checked me. First time mom - what did I know. His head was "right there" when they laid me back down from sitting position.
son#2- completely natural with 4 pushes - and a mild concussion. I passed out while walking the hall in labor and cracked my head open. 3 stitches in my head. I joke that with him I ended up stitched head and tail! lol (sorry guys!)
son3: stubborn cuss had to be cut out. Made the Dr send me home early. I didn't want to stay in the hospital with all those germs with an incision and a newborn.

Drove myself to the hospital Christmas day a couple of years ago after putting a paring knife through my hand. Got out of cleaning up the wrapping paper. DH knew it was bad when he saw me grab the knife handle with other hand and PULL it out and heard it release. (thwack) Permanent nerve damage in my left hand - but just the pinky. Didn't want the boys sitting in the ER - ewww.

Implants are where the $ really kick in. 2 coming up -- had the posts for a pair done this year.

Really? How much are we talking here, if I may ask? Because, as I see it, I wouldn't have to worry so much about cleanings and the like. Right now cleanings are covered as preventative as long as you don't need more than 2 a year. My teeth have always had really week enamel despite all the fluoride treatments and such so I end up needing 3 cleanings a year. It looks like I'm going to need some additional gum work done so that'll probably run me another $500 after insurance. Then the crown is another $400 x2 since I have a second one that I think needs a crown but isn't as 'pressing' to the dentist as the cracked filling.

Maybe I'll just go for some nice dentures.

My first "punch the clock" job was in a donut store. STILL don't like donuts. Hangovers (or still bombed) and donut grease - not a pleasant combination. gag again

My husband used to be a baker. He ended up going in on a donut shop with a friend and fried most of the donuts. He hasn't been able to take more than a bite of a donut since then.

YIKES! I think I would faint if I stuck a knife through my hand... I'm a big wuss, and I'm not afraid to admit it! When I was little I asked if the doctor could knock me out before drawing blood, lmao! (of course that had more to do with my weird blood phobia thing than the pain...)
I think I'd better not get into the birth stories or I'll run the men folk outta here! lol!
