The important point with regard to the thread is that not all auto switches are created equal. 401 autos firing off in a car does not mean other auto switches will. 401's are known for sensitivity to sound -- it doesn't really matter why that is the case -- just that it is and that you can't draw conclusions about all auto switches based on that one model.

Let me get this straight. Some of you are arguing that a dangerous incident is unlikely. To someone who has already had one.

Knowledge is what I gain from others' experience. Wisdom is what I gain from my own experience. It seems some of the people here have a lot of knowledge. But no wisdom.

No, you didn't get it straight -- in the least. In fact, you've gone out of your way to ignore the particulars of the text you actually quoted.

I argued that the behaviour of one model's auto switch (the 401) is not indicative of the behaviour of all of the other model's auto switches (like the 901, for example).

Not sure what is so hard to understand about that.

Yep, that's what I said too. "Your 401 is not my 901"

If you read further back, you'll find that I mentioned that I had attempted many tests trying to make my 901 activate, and failed. Those tests were good enough for me - in my environment and with my way of using the 901 - to state that I felt that improper activation of my 901 was unlikely.

To gain wisdom, one has to read and understand others' posts.

I just did this and could only find you referencing "clever attempts". If you can point out where you described your tests, then I will apologize for my last comment about wisdom, and give you credit for a LOT of wisdom.

However, for me to be satisfied with any of your tests, they must have included dropping the ecig from normal heights, vaping in the rain, dropping the ecig in the snow and other common accidents that could occur.

BTW, I would think that taking issue with the original post of a thread is always on topic :)

I will. Constantly. I have found that I could not inadvertently activate my 901 despite some clever tests. That is truth. Experience. Knowledge.

It was not a recommendation. Where do you get this stuff? You fail to read, and then you make things up. And then attribute these things to me. Please stop.

You know, I'm not going to argue the point further. What I've said is based upon the received wisdom of the forum and I've tried to provide some of that evidence in the form of posts giving responses from suppliers as well as those who have taken the device apart. Could it be incorrect? Yes. But as it stands, I'll take it as true as opposed to someone who is simply declaring that it is incorrect without providing evidence to back up that claim.
Well, I have taken apart countless microphones & 2 EVO M402 batteries & unless there is a difference in the switch department between the 2 EVO models...................

In the end, it doesn't really matter as it's getting off topic for the thread.
I agree, I won't comment on it further.

No one has put up a post on this for awhile, but I must say thank you to Scottes for this wonderful thread. It has actually made me feel so much better about my order for a 901. My life style is pretty similar and I loaded up on juices, carts, and cartomizers (since the awesomeness of the 901 allows me to use the easy way). Got 3 batteries and 4 atomizers. This should last a good while, I'm hoping. I got confused in all these threads, didn't know what was more important to have on hand, more batteries or more atomizers.

Anyhow, again, awesome thread. Thank you.

Ok. I've read so much my head is spinning. I purchased the Smoke 51. I like it fine so far, but I really would like to use e liquids and other cartridges. The flavor although ok could be better and I'd like to purchase e liquids or mix my own flavors.

First, are there any other cartridges that work in the Smoke fifty one e cig? I tried dripping eliquid - not too happy with it - it just combined the tobacco and eliquid flavor.

Second, if I need to purchase another e cig so I can mix my own, I'm not certain which one to buy - too much info.... What I want is an easy draw, good vapor, and taste. I also would like fairly inexpensive cartridge/atomizers.

Marcia,

Welcome to the ECF.

You may want to start a new thread so your questions don't get lost.

I don't know anything about a Smoke 51. Does it have a cartridge with some kind of filler in it? If so you could rinse and dry the filler material and refill it with a new fluid.

The atomizer will also hang on to a flavor for a while as well. They can be cleaned or you can just puff the old flavor away over time.

If you want a new E-cig most models will allow you to drip or refill carts. Even the "cartomiser" models can be refilled even though they are disposable.

I like the 510. You could also consider the other popular models. Check out some video reviews on this site and try searching youtube for popular models. You can see people using and reviewing them. That really helped me decide.

I am a newbe too, and so far I am vapouring the next hardware:

Ladypipe, my favourite.....goes with a pen-atomizer.
Joye 510, like it because of the quick throat-hit
DSE 901, same as the 510
a few penmodels, like them because the go a bit longer....bigger ampuls, bigger battery......though you need a bit more patience before you feel it in your throat.......

I use diverse flavours......am still surching for the best.......
For now I use the: common, medium, the most, I like it because it tastes good, and smells very sweet:)

:lol:I started with a Joye510 and have moved to a Chameleon. It comes with attachments for 510,901 and 801 atomizers. The battery life is all day(for me that is). 100.00 for the basic kit. I am loving this bad boy. Fits in the hand wonderfully. Have tried an 801 atty and a 510 atty. Going to purchase a 901 atty next and see what happens with it. Vapor galore with taste from juice on the 801 atomizer!!!! ikenvape.com is the place to check it out. Isaac has a video on the forum. Search his site name (ikenvape) to find the video and good luck to all. Joye510 and Chameleon are all I have tried! No more buying of the small batteries, this will be a money saver in the end. Batteries cost around 5 bucks, depends on where you purchase them.

i too went through the same thing...i did a ton of research to buy the "right" on the first time...i started with an 801...liked it ok but charging the battery got old...ordered a protege from puresmoker next for better battery life...had many problems with the manual switch right off the bat and the battery life still didn't make me happy...just got my silver bullet from altsmoke today...absolutely love it...tried an 801 and a 501 on it and liked them both very much...been chain vaping for several hours and absolutely no loss in power...i have read that the batter will last up to 22 hours...the pics made it look really big (it is definitely bigger than the other 2 units) but still fits in your hand nicely...in hindsight i wish i would have just ordered this one first.

I am a newbee too. I just read these posts, and I was buying either the 510 or blu. So now I still don't know which one to get!!! What horror stories about the blu? Someone help!!!!!

Just my opinion, but I started with a Blu and for a casual smoker, it would be adequate. My biggest issue with them was their customer service..or lack there of. It took a 510 to keep me off analogs, but I've since gone with a VaporKing from Vapor4life and have given all my 510 stuff to my better half. The battery life of the XL batts and the size of the carts is a total win-win for me. I can go at least 3-4 hrs on a cartomizer and the XL batts last 5-6 hrs. Plus I like having the fresh atomizer with each flavor. I used to drip with my 510 and after awhile...everything tasted the same.

edited to note: I've used the Blu, the 401 Dragon, the 801 and 201 on passthrough and Vapre51 (3.7v mod), the 510, the VMS VaporMaxx (still my favorite little fog machine, but not my daily vape) and the Vaporking which I'm having an almost unnatural love affair with.

..ok that sounded worse than intended, but I love this thing!!

Hey there,

First off, best info I have found so far all in one place! Thanks so much for the post :)

I'd prefer to start a new thread, but the site won't allow it, so I thought I'd add a comment here, hopefully that's ok.

I'm new to this forum, just joined a few minutes ago after perusing various threads. Actually, I've only ever posted to a couple of forums in my life, so this forum is evidently very important to me.

I'm also new to e-cigarettes. I've tried them once, thanks to my father who surprised me with a trial pack around Christmas of 2009. I really liked them and would like to order more, however even though I have been researching for the last few days, I still feel somewhat lost. (Yeah, I admit it, I'm slow when it comes to the internet.) I have no clue where to order from, or which company I should trust, or whether they'll even deliver to Canada.

Currently I am smoking about 35-40 cigarettes a day and have been smoking for almost 25 yrs. I tend to smoke the lightest brand I can find. Right now I smoke Benson & Hedges 100's, Sapphire. Tough to believe this, but I am not addicted to nicotine. My body doesn't "crave" cigarettes. I don't need to have one. I just WANT to. People tend not to believe or understand that, but that's okay. I've quit cold turkey many times and haven't had any problems doing so. I just simply stop and physically or psychologically I am fine. It's strange in a way how easy it is for me to quit. The problem is, I enjoy smoking, and that is why I start to smoke again. I like holding a cigarette between my fingers. I enjoy the "act" of smoking especially when I'm in social situations. What I do not like about smoking is the high cost (a pack is almost $10 here). I loathe the stench of the smoke even more. And of course I'm beginning to get concerned about my health being as I'm not young and stupid anymore. These reasons and many more are precisely why e-cigarettes would be perfect for me.

Anyway, I've written a novel here, so I'll wrap it up. If anyone could help me out by recommending a specific website(s) to order from, I would really, really, really appreciate it!! FYI, I prefer an e-cig that looks more like a real cigarette and TASTES like a real cigarette. I don't care for any special flavours. The price is not a huge issue since I'm currently spending $20/day. I just want to be able to trust the company I order from and not be scammed, that's all.

Thanks again to anyone who chooses to help :)
Cheers!
