While I've never used tanks, because I just don't like the polyfil in cartos, I have used clearos. I have had wonderful experiences with my clearos. I regularly use F-1s (they are from the ego-W set-up), "stardusts" (other than the random cracking, they're a wonderful vape), Vision 'Extremes' esp. in the 3.5ml size and the Crypto 8 (I'm kinda meh on that one, 'cause I've gotten random juice dumps). All are EASY to clean & then reload. The stardusts can be re-wicked if you pop a coil. I've had some of my F-1s in rotation for over 3 months & they vape as well today as they did when new.

Since I really don't have an "all day vape", I don't have much use for the large capacity tanks. The 3.5ml is the only large clearo I need. I change juices throughout the day, 1 strong flavor w/ my espresso, a lighter flavor or a mint mid-day, a strong flavor after dinner, and it varies before bedtime. That's kinds why I have 12 currently in various states of fill, depending on my mood or palate.

Ok, love that tip!!!!!!! Gosh darn it Slim, Im going to be spending more money now and Im blaming u! :)

Good investment ... The tank in the pic is a 5 ml, but I also have a 3.5 ml skinny tank that I use with that tip .... decent volume and does away somewhat with the "magic wand" look those tanks can have on an Ego.

ALL the comments are very well stated and ALL of which have one thing in common and that is PREFERENCE! I actually started off using a 510T cartridge system, progressed on to cartomizers which I use either the Smoke Tech LR 1.7 ohm XL or Boge LR 2.0 ohm cartos! I just recently purchased a Smoke Tech 3.5 ml slim tank that uses a LR 1.5 ohm XL cartomizer and I am very PLEASED about NOT having to always refill the cartomizers, but I do change in and out between the two(CARTOMIZERS and TANK). You have to be really careful though when handling different tank systems for the first time because it can be frustrating when assembling, filling, and using, but as you get use to using tank systems it becomes second nature! Also, when using DIFFERENT blends of E-LIQUID will determine the performance of the tank! Just REMEMBER this, when using certain ACIDIC flavors, such as BANANA or CINNAMON, will crack your tank because those particular flavors are NOT friendly to POLY-CARBONATE of which 90% of tank systems use for their tubing! My suggestion and advice to you is do some research and find the tank that BESTS fits you! I just recently aslo purchased a PHINIAC TANK, because their tanks are made of PYREX and they are very DURABLE and I won't have to worry about my tank cracking when using those particular flavors! REMEMBER research and find the tank that BESTS fits you! GOOD LUCK, take care, and HAPPY VAPING! :D

Interesting. I have a whole bunch of the black BOGE cartomizers which will be worthless with a tank I'm assuming since you need an all metal one. I'd like to be able to punch the cartomizers myself. Luckily I have a dremel so I should be able to take care of that. Thanks for all of you help. I think I"m going to go for a tank.

Put them in the freezer for an hour or two. It will come right off and not leave any sticky residue.

Tanks don't magically extend the life of cartos...

Excellent write up!

BUT, I and others have found that the tank cartos last considerably longer than cartos on their own. My theory is that the 'bottom' feed hole keeps the lower carto end 'flushed'. Therefore it takes longer for the 'sediments' to accumulate. Also, it's almost impossible to burn a carto with this set up.

I use the same fill method as you using needle drip tips...

ETA: I can't stand the metal DTs! Each one I've tried (alum/SS/chrome) gives me a metallic taste. I'm really diggin' the Delrin/Silica gel Drip Tip. Comfortable with no taste whatsoever. For a snugger fit, I lightly score the insert portion in three places with a razor blade or Xacto knife.

I got the same 22 - 24 ml on a plain carto as in a tank, but likely because I'm .... about topping them off.

I hear you on driptips :) Everyone truly has their own taste in that area. I picked up an assortment on a TW sale last year, was "meh" on the delrin pawn, liked the shortie SS, but know others who really dislike the SS. It's great that there's such a wide array of choices available.

I've tried pretty much every carto clearo combo going and finally settled on a combination of Boge cartos in my DCT, I've had to cut my tanks down from the DCC size 45mm to 35mm to fit the boge's but I actually prefer the size, a good balance between liquid capacity and size. I haven't tried the XXL boges which will fit in the XL DCT, boge sell them as XXL cartos but they're XL size if that makes sense
