I used to buy a pack of smokes for 24 cents....at the VA Hospital commissary. Different times.

Oh, I remember those days. No more.

Chuck's crazy ill informed rant statement was based on one thing. Gottlieb came with the new administration, and therefore is the devil. Gottlieb changed the regulations out of both evidence of harm reduction, but also the vague and arbitrary nature of a poorly written piece of policy.

NY had vape juice taxes ready to go on this years budget. Two days before the budget was presented, they didn't simply lower the tax, but eliminated it altogether. NY can be bad, but it's not CA.

As to Chuck, unless there's a change in the Senate in 2018, not much reason to pay attention to his topic of the week.

Yeah, and I can remember saying that when they went to 50 cents I was quitting, well, I think you can guess what happened there.

I can't even count the "That's it - I'm quitting!" milestones I missed (ignored).

When gas hit a buck per gallon I was going to quit driving too. ;)

I started cutting my own hair, dog clippers, in 1963 when haircuts went to $0.75 and I still do. (The lovely Ms CMD is not a fan but, my oh my, I do look good.) That is a milestone I actually made.

When I started smoking they were .75 cents a pack. (I started young )

I used my allowance money back then, as daddy gave me an allowance of 5.00 a week. I bought a pack a week back then so it wasn't bad really, still had pocket money..

I didn't swear off cigarettes until they went over 13.00 a carton. I was smoking a carton a week by then and buying by the carton because it was cheaper than by the pack. Of course, by then too I was using my own hard-earned money and not daddy's. . Lol.

I said at the time that if the price ever went up to 15.00 a carton I was quitting smoking for good..

Lol.. of course by the time I quit name brand was going for 60 a carton I think, and I was no longer smoking name brand due to cost. . Lol

Oh gawd I remember that, I couldn't believe gas was getting so high. I'll also never forget the first time I went into a convenience store and dropped a dollar down for a Coke and instead of getting change I was asked for more. I was like :censored:? Now they are $2.00 or so.

The problem with buying them by the carton, is that you end up smoking more or them. I used to buy cartons too because they were cheaper but ended up they were actually more expensive. Instead of a pack a day, I would go thru a carton in 4 or 5 days.

So I went back to buying 2 packs every other day to control that problem

No doubt BT were brilliant at marketing.

If by "brilliant" you actually meant scandalous and treacherous, you nailed it, :?)

I call this the age of Yellow Marketing. (The Journalism is unadulterated sewage).

While I don't cut my own hair (Great Clips anyone?) I do own a set of Wahl clippers and haven't had to pay for hubby's or sons' haircuts for about 15 years.

I meant brilliant as in smart and market savvy. No one's fault but mine I started smoking and kept smoking for 46 years. BT did not walk up to me and say try this. My parents didn't offer me my first cig; I pinched it, loved it, bought my first pack that day.
