This is one that I rarely see mentioned anywhere. Preface, I've had this flavor for several months now, and I've tasted it here and there and I've never really used it.
So without any steeping, it's a decent flavor by itself at 5%. I'm honestly not excited enough by it to want to see it through a week of steeping. Usually you can get a pretty good idea of where a flavor is going by initial taste and smell.
From the bottle the liquid is clear, and not strong smelling whatsoever. I've mixed alone at 5 and 10% and my impression is the same. It has aspects of vanilla and caramel. It's semi-sweet tasting which with some steeping would most likely morph into something sweeter as well as having a more pronounced caramel aspect.
Does it really vape like cotton candy? Well sort of. It's definitely not a very strong flavor, very mild tasting, very vanilla-y, airy. I actually put a small drop of the mix on my tongue, and it tastes like cotton candy (very sweet) most likely due to the EM.
If it were to fit into a category of notes, it's a middle note along with cream (which can be bottom or middle notes). Functionally, I would compare it to tfa marshmallow. I'd say it would give a mix some body, fill in the flavor profile gaps with out changing the flavor significantly. Also, like tfa marshmallow it's a mild flavor.
Looking at TFA's website, we see that Ethyl Vanillin as being the prominent molecule in both marshmallow and the circus cotton candy. If you've ever used that molecule alone, you know that it is also very mild and in the background. The circus cotton candy differs chemically in that it lacks the Acetoin and AP which are present in some amounts in the marshmallow.
Would I recommend this flavor? Not really because there are so many other flavors out there that really shine. This one is very subtle, and TFA makes other flavors that do the same thing as this would do which makes this one not a must-have flavor in my opinion. As mentioned earlier I did purchase this flavor and just haven't found anything to put it in. I do think that it would work in mixes, but I think lacks that special something. For 3 bucks, it's not a huge waste to try, but if you only had 20 bucks to spend...
