Has anyone tried it? I know passivation of SS happens with nitric acid, citric acid, etc. It creates that non corrosive coating on SS after it's been processed, does it have the same effect as the standard torch and dunk oxidization process?

yeah, I went lookin for the article I was basing this question on and can't find it but the other stuff I'm reading agrees with what you're saying, so... nm
Just tryin to figure out if theres a more effective/consistant way to oxidize wicking material other than just torch and dunk.
The point of dunking in tap water is to put a layer of minerals on the outside of the steel correct? maybe some sort of solution like salt water or other would create a more consistant coating?
