I must be losing my mind. Please read this quote from an article about an amendment, written by Democratic senators Joseph Vitale and Robert Gordon, to the New Jersey smoking ban bill to include electronic cigarettes:

In conformity with the bill, the definition of the term “smoking process” would be expanded to cover the usage of e-cigs. Smoking would be defined as any process of inhaling tobacco and exhaling smoke, or any other substance or vapor that can be inhaled and exhaled. This amendment would permit to include the usage of electronic smoking devises and its sales to adolescents in the list of activities prohibited under the NJ Smoke Free Air Act. [Source]

Did these idiots just ban indoor breathing in public? And what about the people who carry around those oxygen tanks that have emphysema or whatever?

Isn't the ban on import currently in place? If so, how is it that I can order anything I want from China now? Would the ban only apply to import in bulk? I'm pretty sure Judge Leon removed the ban but a higher court replaced it until the trial... right?
And, how is it all you folks in Canada can still pretty much order anything you want online? I'm sure i'm totally confused and ignorant of such things, but even post ban U.S. could we still get everything via online ordering?

CtryBoy, you can go to either CASAA or National Vapers Club websites for all sorts of press releases, legislator packs and various studies. Feel free to use the information available. The more people who write Letters to the Editor, educate politicians and talk to doctors, the better!

Gathering all the ammo I can find. Planning on editing it into a cohesive summary suitable for publication to local newspapers, physicians, politicians and anyone else that we can think of. And we definitely want it in plain english that the average person can understand, not all those medical and technical terms that corporations like to use to confuse the average person.

Any other substance or vapor that be inhaled or exhaled...

That includes visible vapor emitted from the mouth and nose on a cold day. I guess that includes asthma inhalers and nicotine inhalers provided by prescription.

We actually pay these people to craft laws like this.

I can remember a time when people would express their opinion by saying, "That's bad for you!" and forget about it. No one felt the need to control your life. If you wanted to do something that was "bad for you" in their minds, they would just send flowers and attend the funeral when you were gone.

Since the late 60s and especially in the 70s, the masses have discovered that if they can find enough people to demonstrate against something they can have it banned. That led to public outcry getting their way against most anything they could show support against. To bad these people didn't apply their energies to making the world cough up Osam bin Laden.

Good wording Darth. You only need to add the word "to" after the word "right" at the end of the first paragraph.

They´ve already banned imports and sales, based on the US FDA´s analysis.

I agree. Who of you remember head shops. Pot was illegal(still is) but all sorts of paraphernalia was available. My concern is that it is so bizarre, so illogical, that it will happen. To us it is a no brainer, how in the world can they ban e cigs but not cigarettes.
But most laws that are passed are not based in logic.

I think a fund for a class action suit is a great idea. If we don't speak up then it will be decided for us. I'm in.
