Hi guys

I put this in "Ask a Vet" but now realise that it was probably a bit frivolous for in there and I should have tried here first (hopefully they will delete it during moderation).

Anyway, I'm just wondering what everyone finds to be the best way to clean bottles and carts for re-use. juice is STRONG, and plain water doesn't seem to be doing it - they still smell of what they used to hold (in my case one that someone gave me which I really didn't like and can't get rid of the smell of).

So what's the secret?

Boiling could work but some flavors are not volatile (won't dissolve) in water whereas they will dissolve in PG or VG. Menthol for one - doesn't dissolve in water and menthol is one of the hardest to clean. So using straight PG or VG could help clean out flavor - kinda like how using gum to clean up gum works - or using that stringy glue to get it off plastic, etc. PGA or 151 clear, unflavored vodka is my 'universal cleaner' so I use that too. It dissolves gunk on attys and is also used for mixing some flavors - dries quickly as well.

Thanks kent. I did wonder about vodka - I used to use it to clean out my perfume atomisers so wondered if it would work with juice too.

The cheaper the better it seems :) I get a 151 proof 'Galen's' charcoal filtered, uncolored, unflavored for @$12/fifth. It's how I clean my attys and cart fillers and even taking a qtip to battery and charger connections. Sometimes you need a toothpick for the latter though. I still dip that in vodka first.
