I use Everclear 190 proof to rinse, and don't perform any sort of surgery (just a personal preference, too much of a hassle).

Since you're using rubbing alcohol, I'd imagine you'll want to make sure that is has completely evaporated before using.

Anyway, just wanted to add this to the discussion- this is a procedure posted recently for dry burning an eGo-C atty that I've found works very well:

It's a good idea to have a pack of cartos as a backup. I have not used the ego tank systems myself, but I've read a lot here where people have problems with them.

Cartos are cheap, easy and disposable.

I can see where backups are important! I've got an extra 5-pack of atty's on hand, plus 7 CE4+'s (all of which gurgle, 4 of which leak) and a Vision Low Resistance Clearomizer which works well. I've also got a Smok eGo Dual Coil that I just can't seem to get to work right. I think I might have overfilled it the first time.
