What I generally do is remove the mouthpiece, hold them with a pair of pliers and run them under hot water for several minutes, removing it from the water several times to blow out the excess liquid each time; this helps flush out leftover liquid. After several repeats of this I'll then dry off the outside and then place them in something, for example an inverted (clean!) sock, open side toward the end, then spin it around rapidly (preferably in an open area where injuries to family and pets are less likely) for a couple of minutes to let centrifugal force push the water to the open end so that excess can fly out into the sock and whatever remains stays close to the top for easier drying.

Then I let it dry overnight. It's usually good and dry by morning. This works best if you have a few of them you can bundle together with an elastic band so their collective weight brings more force when swinging them around. It sounds weird, but it works. :)

If your EMDCCs are particularly gunked up, you might want to give them a soak in some vinegar, isopropyl or pure grain alcohol (vodka if you can't get PGA where you are), and then do the above rinse after they've soaked for a while.

I get a small bowl, put the cartos in, cover them with denatured alcohol, and let them set overnight. Sometime the next day, as was posted above, I turn the hot water on, hold a carto with pliers, and give it a hot water shower to get the alky and whatever is left out. I then blow the water out and let them set for a couple of days to air dry. Hardware store will have the denatured alcohol. It's usually around the paint. Walmart also has it in their paint section.
