for best performance, clean, AND polish all of your contacts including all tube threads. Make sure you do the same for all button parts too including the inside wall. Toothpaste and a toothbrush work great if you don't have any polish. I use Mothers Aluminum polish as well as Sharkhide Metal Polish.
Do this on a regular basis depending on usage and you'll be amazed at the difference it makes.

Is it important to clean the internal of the button as it has very limited exposure? I really dislike disassembling it.

Yes it is important - even the spring needs cleaned - for main body of button after polishing, just stick a doubled up pipe cleaner down it, drys it quickly.

Clean, shiny contacts and threads make for a hard hitting JGG - at least weekly the contacts should be polished, with JGG it takes less than 3 minutes without doing the button, so it doesnt take that long. My button is cleaned at least once a week.

So I polished the contacts on both ggts and just gg.

I didn't polish the contact point that touches the atomizer positive post. I figure next time I polish the contacts I will but will wash them after.

Do people usually wash the contacts after polishing in case of residue and vaping? Primarily thinking the contact that touches the positive post of the atomizer would be the only thing that would need washed if polished.

all parts are best long but for sure parts that will be in contact with liquid

yes long, including the tube threads.
Toothpaste works good but polish is better. Or better yet polish first then follow up with toothpaste and toothbrush to make sure you've removed any residual polish from the threads.I've easily improved the voltage drop by .2v or better by polishing.
