Tried searching but didn't find anything with this in the title so I'm asking here. How do you prep a fresh atomizer for first time use? I bought my Ego-C at a brick and mortar in Chicago and the guy said he removed the priming fluid or whatever its called but I didn't see what he did. I think he blew in it? Anyway, whatever he did didn't work cuz I had a metallic taste for the first 10 or so drags. Couldn't tell if it was the banana flavor I loaded up or the atty.

With normal atomizers (only kind I know) I do this

*blow out the atty into a tissue, prime by dripping 3 or so drops of liquid on atomizer bridge and wait for it to soak down to coil, then using a drip tip or empty cart vape that mostly off without inhaling. Repeat from *. Repeat from * again and try inhaling. (primer smells like machine oil - you should notice when it's gone)

Another method is to rinse the atty a lot with water, then shake out and blow out, dry, prime with liquid and let that soak down to coil, then use.

Obviously people with auto batteries or other unsealed batteries need to be extremely careful not to leak liquid on the end of the battery.

What I did

Fresh Atomizer- Blew the primer out(blew through the battery end) onto a tissue until I noticed no more primer coming out. Then I dropped 3 drops of liquid and waited about a minute. Put everything together and it was good to go. Before I started vaping this new atty, I did primer puffs, 2 or 3 times to make sure atty was good and wet.

Old Atomizer- Removed the spike portion(Wick) of the atty. I then dropped the coil and wick into hot water for about 5minutes. Then I would remove the coil, blew all the water out and did a dry burn till I saw that it was nice and red evenly around the coil. Dropped 1-2 drops of e-liquid(the juice I was going to use) on the coil. I then removed the wick out of the water and pat dry. Then I would burn the wick till it was nice and white again. Finally I would assemble the wick and coil and dropped another 2-3 drops of juice on the wick and its ready to vape.
This worked out pretty well for me. I might have to clean the used atomizer maybe once a week(depending on what kind of juice I used) and it always vaped "like new" for me. Hope this helps out.

With my ego-c I try to stay away from really dark liquids (Cant see through or close to it) because I have found that not only will they dirty my atty literally 10x faster than a "cleaner" eliquid, but they also can cause the wick to stick to the coil as you have experienced. If you want to stick with the liquid that caused the problem, just clean it more often, don't let it get to that point bc all it takes is one time going too long not cleaning for it to be a problem. I have never tried to replaced the wick because fortunately I havent killed an atty yet, 3 months and going strong.

Also, like Kim said, find what works for you and use it. Personally I have never bothered soaking my attys in anything, alcohol, water, etc. just dry burning. People have cautioned me about dry burning often as if can reduce the life of your attys but as long as you don't just let the atty stay red hot for an extended period of time (2-3 sec for me) your atty will be as good as new. Even after months of use.

If you're using a liquid that sticks the wick to the coil, you really should soak the atty in something before you open the atty head. I use alcohol/vinegar mix.

Regular cleaning is a must if you wish to prolong the atty life. Like rmo0605 up there on the ceiling, I haven't killed a single atty yet. Ego-c atty heads (as weird as it sounds) are my longest living stock attys ever. They are super easy to clean, and if you rotate a few, you can clean couple of the together, so its not a big pain in the ....

I only just got my eGo-T today and I'm sure the way I did it isnt the most efficient method but if you got some time and dermination then it works very well.

Basically take some tissue paper and shape it into a point, put it into the non-battery side of the atomiser all the way in until it makes contact with the needle, then blow through the battery side of the atomiser HARD, everytime you do this pull the tissue out, check if there is a wet mark, then with a new piece of tissue repeat the process, this took me about 15 minutes of good solid blowing to finally end up with absolutely no wet marks on the tissue, like I said it can take a while but washing and waiting for the atomiser to dry will take even longer.

Be careful that you're blowing completely dry, sometimes when you're blowing real hard air can escape between your lips and the edge of the atomiser and this can cause some saliva to be blown into and back out of the atomiser leading to wet marks!

This is the eGo-C discussion, not T. C version is MUCH easier to clean as you can easily get to the coil itself. Washing AND drying takes a few minutes.

I find ave bobas 100%vg is just barely too thick for my ego-c atty (especially on LR attys) so I like to add a little copper creek house blend (70/30 pg/vg (very similar to bobas) in order to create the perfect consistency. Boba's only comes in 100vg in case you're wondering, I think at least. That's my go too. Also, if your liquids are really sweet and/or you add extra sweetener.... or extra extra sweetener, that sugar tends to burn on your coil and wick very quickly causing wicking/ draw problems

Well, i only just got my eGo-C, and the atti preping i did to it was... nothing.

I just asambled the atti, filled a tank and slaped it in, i dint inhale the first 4 or 5 puffs thoug (to allow for the primer fluid if any, to burn up), after that, my Dekang Desert Ship tasted wonderfully with no strange, burnt, plastic or primer flavor at all.
