Clear Resin DNA40

Rob was kind enough to part with his clear resin prototype so I thought I'd stick a DNA40 in it.

I had to do some pretty serious modding to get the dna chip embedded completely in the side...like mill a good chunk of the side right off. Because it's clear I didn't want any wires showing so I used sterling silver wire and milled wire pockets so everything was sunk in and out of the way. The cover for the dna is made from lexan and ground and polished to replace what I milled off.

It's far from perfect but when you have a transparent mod, pretty tough to hide anything

"Challenges" is putting it mildly, and ya, wanting to build a transparent mod is thoroughly out of my system ...I do applaud your choice in resin however...it's tough, takes and holds a polish, an absolute joy to machine and is feather light...and this may sound strange, it doesn't feel "plasticy"...it feels like one of those soft-touch pens or TV remotes, hard to describe.

There's a big modder world out there now, I would think if you offered up this box in it's raw, blank form, (or pre-create a DNA chip pocket) you'd probably sell 1-2...or 100, the ubiquitous "Hammond box" is a joke compared to this

I have a feeling these resins will be a big win, they feel as nice in the hand as the Woodvils...but with that mil. spec, bullet proofness we've come to love of the alumi-bodies.

If time permits I definitely plan to offer a box for the modders I think offering a rough wood box would be nice as well .The dna pocket would be a hit with the modders as well as many of you no I want no part of building these type of mods . You are right it doesn't feel cheap it feels very much like a polished piece of wood . I am at the end of the wood run thank god looking forward to working with the resin

Interesting you noticed that...back when I was a kid as an apprentice carpenter, if I didn't do that my journeyman would go nuts...kids these days with their Torx head screws, pfft, what do they know
