K for anyone following this or reading it later, I thought I'd update with this video I'm watching now by Scottua doing a build for The tank. At 32 minutes he is getting the wick in the juice flow channels which has been part of my problem and I think the way he does it is a great method and would help with wicking the juice channels on the Cleito. I quit using my Cleito around the last time I posted because I just got sick of it leaking but this has given me renewed hope to try again!

That's one part I think I left out in my response. That was key for me. In fact, I (loosely) pull my wick farther out than the other video I referenced. It's like 4 little puffs of cotton outside of the juice flow.

Cohumulone, which video are you speaking of? Are you talking about the one RJ Staples shared in this thread?
Yeah that's the one. I used that video for my first one and it leaked like crazy. Found this thread and went back to that video and really paid attention to the details.

1. Fluff it before you stuff it.
2. Fold it back like he does as he's stuffing. Don't just shove it in.
3. Make sure it has those "tufts" he mentions (little arches in the cotton)
4. Fill that juice flow with cotton.

Those details cured my leaks, and mine leaked even before I converted it to RTA.

Disclaimer: it will still leak if you put it horizontal without vaping. I think that may be a general rule anyway. I'm new to vaping so I can't speak to that with any real experience other than my Cleito.

I did just pick up a Griffin today just for kicks. Perhaps I'll end up liking it more, but I love my Cleito.

Well, it's only been about six hours, but briefly turning the tank upside down after filling seems to have solved the problem for me.

This is my first RTA and I thought I was doing something horribly wrong or that maybe a rebuildable was too complicated for me. Glad I found this thread and what appears to be a simple solution!

I can't believe how much more flavor this has than the standard coils - and the standard coils had tons of flavor!

Awesome thanks for the details. Hope you love the Griffin, I've been thinking of getting one myself.

I do love it! Again, the wicking is very particular on it though. I wicked it wrong the first time and leaked worse than anything I've ever seen. Wicked it just to the bottom of the ring and it's phenomenal! Chimney is smaller in diameter than the Cleito so it hits a little tighter even wide open.

Cleito was my first RTA too. I absolutely love it.

Created a username just to make this one post cause I was that moved..

So, aside from the very first time I used it, my cleito rta has also been leaking like heck. Especially right after refilling due to pressure build up in the tank when screwing the top on. Closing the airflow before refill, then tipping upside down and opening them and holding upside down for 15 seconds to regulate pressure/vacuum helped a little, but still some constant slow leaking..

Tonight I rewicked using the method shown in that last vid that Lantana posted where he halves the cotton pad and rolls it semi loose like a tube. I left approximately a half inch of cotton on each side of coils before tucking them down into the juice channels. (still did the upside-down trick upon filling). Thing is hitting better than I've ever experienced and zero leaking. Thing is bone dry on the outside. I was in love before despite the leaking, but now I feel like it's went from slightly defective to perfection.

I think the rolled tube method works well because the ends unroll slightly within the juice flow chambers, expanding to fill them better. And at the same time the open ends help draw juice up into the wicking like a straw..

Anyways, happy vaping!

you have got to be kidding.....the upside down thing works...

I have a dotmod petri rta 22mm and it still works. Literally was just leaking all over me and now its not.

Ive built on this before and managed to get no leaks but it seems every other time I do its all over the place. A build that was just leaking is not leaking. I cant believe it. Thank you

Most often people stuff TOO MUCHA COTTON in RTAs
Also does your RBA have an o-ring?
If not take one. From the stock Aspire coils and see if it fits
Another common misconception about RTAs specifically is that the cotton/wick is what is keeping the juice in the tank.
No this is not true the wick is not. Like a "plug" keeping the juice in-this is the reason for threaded tops and o-rings.
Try an o-ring from an old coil if no success get some from Harbor Freight

one thing that has worked for me on using the cleito is to fire it on a mod when screwing the top piece back on, and hold the fire till its tight. all tanks get a "vacuum" issue when refilling, the cleito is really bad for it. when you start screwing the top back on it forces juice thru the cotton and floods the coil, firing burns off excess. I have not tried the RTA deck so this might not work for it. I use the Vaporwerx coils in mine and do this everytime i fill it, never leaks after... well it will a little if i chain vape, but thats it.

just a quick update in using the RTA on the cleito. I did experience some leakage, but thanks to a tip from a friend I wanted to share, its been good so far. Close the airflow, remove the cap, fill the tank, tighten cap but not all the way, flip it over and finish tightening the top cap. keep the tank inverted and open the airflow. hold it inverted for about 20 seconds or so, then attach to your mod and go. using this method I have had no leaks. since the tank creates a vacuum, doing this equalizes the pressure when tightening down the top cap. hope this helps!

I know this is a six month old thread and all but it's the first result for me on Google for "cleito rta build" while looking for some new build ideas.

I've never had a single drop leak out of my cleito rta but I've been thinking about it and it could be that I only use macro/micro coils and not Clapton coils or the like. Why does this matter? Because there's no space between wraps. What I think is probably happening is the juice is being pulled up into the coil and then dripping down into the air holes between the wraps. That's pretty much the only way I can see it leaking at all with the right amount of cotton since the coils sit directly over the air holes that run down to the AFC ring, where all of the juice is leaking out for those experiencing the leaking issues. Where with the coils I build, there's no space between the wraps for the juice to drip down into the air holes and out the bottom.

Just my $0.02 thread necromancy.

This is the way you should fill all tanks, imo.
