Clone lovers, has any authentic mod ever urged you to go authentic?

I'm almost pretty much a clone guy because I don't feel many mods are worth a $200+ investment out of my budget (although I have bought some fairly expensive custom clones). However, I think I've found the one authentic that I will actually blow $260+ for if I can ever find it: The Axis.

It's actually the opposite for me. I have quite a few mods, both mech and VV, both authentic and clones. I started with an authentic Nemesis. I bought a Nemesis clone later just to compare. I also bought authentic kayfun and Russians then bought several clones later to compare. I've actually done this with a lot of my Vape gear.

I'm really liking ProVaris. I have 2 and a new 1 due to be delivered today.

I love buying nice Vape gear. It's a hobby for me. Plus...I love vaping.

wish i had the patients to save up for some authentic Mods and if i could i would try some.....as of now i don't know any better and my clone collection is growing & has satisfied me so far....well i'm getting ready to purchase a Helmsman later tonight if that counts as an original, if so it will be my first.

i have lusted after an XXIX full copper for almost 6 months. Planned on purchasing one the next time they were in stock. What do you know, they were finally cloned this week lol. China just keeps pulling me in.

Trouble is that if the 1:1 clone is really good then why bother going for the original. If the clone is rubbish then it may well put you off the original.
As far as i am concerned the only reason to buy an original mod is for the quality of the materials used. Everything else can be tinkered with.
I own a handful of clones and havn't yet been tempted to buy an original. If money were no object i would probably get a couple though.

I've had a bunch of clones and liked some more than others. The first mech original that got my attention was the Black Copper Stingray. I obsesed about it for a long time and one day, I took my wife to our local vape shop, and what do you know, I walked out with my unicorn, and I love it! Was it worth it? To me it was more than worth it! It is my favorite mod, fit and finish and function is all perfect, and it makes me happy. I still use a few of my clones, mainly the Nemesis with a black anodized tube and a hybrid adapter, and an aqua/origin hybrid with a forsed patina.

The only regulated that I have are a Provari mini and a VS30, so I guess they fall under original.

And I just got into pipes, went to Lawrenceville, GA over the weekend to SteamCigs and got me an epipemods.

As far as atomizers, the only "original" that I have is a Russian 91%, but that too is a clone, just priced like an original.

I see no need or desire. I {MODERATED} cannot justify the price of the real ones. I use a full copper hades clone, and a kamry k100. The k100 puts out a cloud so big it has blown away everyone I have meet that swear to only buy "real" mods. The k100 has been sat on daily, thrown, kicked, dropped so much abuse. The hades, puts the k100 to shame. So why go authenic? what more could they possibly offer

Performance? A well setup clone made with copper or brass with good, clean contacts will perform as well as a quality original.

Original is not a definition of quality, but the tolerances on SOME originals are a lot better that MOST clones. I've had clones that the threads are so slopy that it's amazing that they are catching at all, and too much play on the switch, causing you to have to constantly take it appart to clean and polish it to try to avoid arching.

Can you get a good clone for a fraction of the price, and perform just as well as an original? Absolutely, some even perform better than the counterpart that they copied.

Why buy original? Not because of need, but because you can.

Yes some clones are sloppy made , but if u buy from the right company they are fine , like I said my k100 has seen a lot of abuse. It's one thing to want it's another to need . I agree the want could be there but as far as need I don't see it. For me it's more about the quality of the vape tho

tbh, Hcigar clones are pretty darn high up there, and considering thier cost, its a great option.

I'm compelled to get the Helmsman since it looks like a nemesis, but also cuz its got silver plated contacts and whatnot.

but if I had the cash I'd buy a ZNA fo sho.

I just started to get into rebuilding and mechs and purchased an original Kayfun Lite plus and Vanilla mod. Because of my skill level I was concerned about tolerances and my ability to get the mod to work correctly.

Now that I have some minor experience under my belt I've purchased two more mods, both clones and am having a great time vaping them. My new best friend is a sand blasted king mod with my Kayfun atty. Next major purchase is going to be an original Erlkonigin unless a good clone comes out before I get the chance to get the cash together.

As always though I consider this site to be a great source of information. If I read that such-and-such a clone is better or just as good as the, I'll take that into serious consideration before making my purchase.

Let me squash this myth that gets repeated across these forums.
I repair mods for My local vape store.
I see tons of mods both legit and clones.
Originals are rarely made better than the well made ones. In fact, as far as quality, you can rarely tell the difference.
The parts interchange.

I have over 30 mods.
All clones.
I CAN buy an original. I haven't found a logical reason to pay the price.
I don't vape to make some misguided fashion statement, or to one-up the other guy.
Performance and quality differences are minimal.
I personally won't pay 10 times the clone price just to say I have an original.
That's really the only advantage.

I have a Provari, a first rate device I have never regretted buying. It is just as good as "the Provari cult" say it is. That being said.... I personally prefer mechs. For the simplicity and the durability. I love my Silver Bullets (worth every penny!) but aside from those, all my mechs are clones. If I spend $20-$30 on a clone and for whatever reason don't care for it, either for form factor after using it awhile or for lesser performance, I can deal with it. Because the price is less than a carton of cigarettes and my expanding collection just makes me happy. However, if I spend $200 on an authentic mech I would almost never use it because it would be locked up or on a pedastal I would also be livid if I found out my expensive authentic had the identical design flaws and/or shortcomings of a $20 clone. That's just my take on it.

Nope, all my Regulated are originals and my Mceh Mods are in expensive.
I see no need to Assume I'll need to recoup investment...............and from the looks so does the FDA

i saw a review from rip tripper when he asked if we like the clone if we'd buy the original

my answer is no, if a clone works and works well then i just sit and laugh at the ppl paying a few hundred dollars for the same exact thing...keep the $90 in my wallet to buy more important things....i don't need to have a $300 device in my hands, i actually smile when i tell people my mod is like $40 for the whole thing including juice

I don't think I'd pay $200 for any mechanical mod, although the Sir Lancelot is quite tempting. I actually wanted to get an authentic matte V3 Flip for a while but I gradually fell out of love with the design of it and whoever is in charge of their social media posts makes a total ... out of himself so I passed.

I don't see a clone company cloning a 70+ watt box mod anytime soon though so I'm looking into authentics right now since I'm looking for regulated subohm vaping at .2+ ohms. My copper clones hit hard enough for now until I can find an Axis. Pretty sure it'll never be cloned.

I was only speaking for myself, no need to be prickly.
But since you ask...
Maybe if you didn't pay $300 for a threaded tube, original modders would lower their prices.
If they lowered their prices there wouldn't be a market for clones.
Trust that if one Modder doesn't, someone else will.
Supporting someone who tries to extract as much profit as possible from their customers, doesn't impress me as something I would be interested in doing, but whatever makes you happy is what you should do.
