I make congee... rice porridge a lot for breakfast... even cornmeal mush...or as the other people call it.. pollenta and be thinned with broth and considered a soup.. same with grits but I like mine thick with butter. Many Eastern cultures have soup for breakfast

Angel... I think it is in the mail now :)

That's awesome Joan...she's going to be so surprised and excited! I can't wait to give it to her! :D

I've made corn meal mush and let it set up in the fridge till the next day slice it and fry it like hot cakes. serve with bacon and maple syrup. Very good.

Oh, I miss Peasoup Anderson's! All the ones down here disappeared thirty years ago. There is still at least one windmill building still standing--but it's now a TGI Fridays.

The last time I headed to Gilroy there was still one at I 5 and hwy 152, but that's been 6 or 8 years back. so I don't know if it still exists or not.

I know several that will crumble cornbread in a bowl and eat with milk and sugar or buttermilk... grits ... some eat them with milk and sugar or with syrup too. I get up a lot of times and have baked beans on toast for breakfast. You can slice and fry grits like you do mush. If you think about it... oatmeal with milk and sugar is like a soup and even cold cereals and milk are a soup of sorts

Just googled it, it's in Santa Ynez. and one in Santa Nella Santa Nella is the one off 152 and 5
The one in Santa Ynez was the last one I ate at. But that was about 12 years ago or so.

morning Angel. If you get it as fast as I'm getting the last of my stuff from JC you should have it in a day or two.

It'll be nice if it gets here before Thursday so I can give it to her this week, since I don't work Fridays. But either way, I know she's going to love it!

My Bionic package is out for delivery. mailed Friday and I'm getting it Monday. WOW. The post office must be trying to score points.

Apparently the government run service thinks it's more efficient for my package to go all the way across the country before coming back again,an extra 1200 miles, to my location. The good news is my MVP 2 is "out for delivery" and should be here tomorrow. That will give me a couple of days to play with it and figure it out before my Bionic Vapor sampler pack gets here, so it's all good.

according to google they are both still there. We had one in Kingsburg, about 10 miles from us, but not anymore. Whatever restaurant that took it over served pea soup for a while, but that has since changed too.

Yep. I spread the mush on a cookie sheet in the fridge so it sets up in about a 1/2" thick layer and can be cut out in perfect circles with a drinking glass or cup to fry them up. The wife's not much for cooking, but that's okay; she's very good at other vitally important things. ;)

Same boat, besides I really like to cook. Always willing to try something new. eat or make.
