Glassmanoak update, as promised !

I'm doing great and still have a very positive attitude, but it is MUCH more difficult this time around.

My right leg was amputated below the knee, which will prove to be a HUGE blessing! Everything is healing nicely and I'm really looking forward to a new prosthesis and the resultant hard work to become ambulatory. I have a Hyperbaric Chamber appointment daily to promote healing. The Vascular Surgeon, Wound Card Physician and everyone else is amazed at how the "stump" is doing. The staples should come out next week and then I begin the process of getting a second prosthesis. It should take about 2 weeks with all the red tape then I'm off and running (I wish). I'm really looking forward to the process !!

The only problem is that I cannot get into a car or van YET ! I have to have a van with a lift or ramp. For some reason, this is a HUGE problem !! My only transport comes from 90 miles away and so my schedual of Dr. visits is very inflexible. I WILL survive until I get my new leg !! I'm doing LOTS of exercise to get more upper body strength AND to build muscles in my stumps. NO rest for the Wicked!

Thanks for all the love and support and prayers and good vibes. You have no idea how much it helps knowing that someone is pulling for you. Thanks to you all !!!

Great to see that your doing well. I can definitely take a lesson on your positive attitude. I complain about far less. Keep up the good work. Youll be running like Oscar Pistorius in no time :)

GMO - Thanks for the update! Glad you are healing quickly!
In an effort to rehab my knee, after 2 surgeries, I'm starting a 1 week free trial at the gym next week. If I feel like givin' up, I'll just think of all your hard work. ;)
(The monthly membership fee is the same as one visit to physical therapy.) :thumb:

OP from Contest Thread:

2/21 5
After using the kayfun light all day I really want to try a subtank. The kayfun seems a little messy and from what I read the subtank eliminates that. First of all I need a good high watt device. I'm thinking a 30watt device should be plenty enough power for me so now I just gotta find a good cheap one and talk piggy into letting me get it. Wish me luck and ideas on one preferably with replaceable battery, but if cheap enough it don't matter.

We had that discussion on this thread a couple weeks ago (I think it was around pages 20-30). If it's a replaceable battery you want, I think the cheapest bet is the Cloupor Mini (30 watts, which has been running $30-$40). Other alternatives are the IPV Mini v1 (30w, $40-$50), and the Sigelei Mini (30w), SX Mini (60w), and IPV Min v2 (70w) (all running at $50+, I think).

Time for me to sign off. Good night, Treefam!

Glassmanoak update 2

I've had lots of time to think about my situation.. too much, actually !! Since the amputation of my left leg, I've had tons of problems with the right leg.. poor circulation, wounds that are slow to heal or won't heal at all, pain beyond anything that I've ever experienced! Lots to test my positive attitude!!!

As difficult as locomotion is without the right leg, I truly believe that, in the long run, I'll be better off with two prostheses. Less pain, fewer doctors visits and a better ability to walk and be in this dratted wheelchair less !! Once the stump is healed and I get the second prosthesis, and have help in rehab, I expect to be able to do almost anything I could do before all this amputation business started last year. I'm looking forward to a new life and am trying to be patient and wait for each necessary step to unfold.

Thanks for all the support !! It is much needed AND appreciated !!
