No ,he brought the dog back. Good thing he's the one that got bit cause he has a little baby at home. Scary.

I'd advise him not to take ANY dog that doesn't know him and he doesn't know the dog out into any stimulating place. They need to get to know each other first so the dog can feel secure in those situations.

Did he take the baby to the shelter to see how the dog reacted beforehand too? Yes, really sad. Good chance this one will be put down as most shelters won';t even attempt to adopt out biters.

With a baby in the picture a rescue dog may not be the best option for either him or the dog. You never know what they have been through so it takes a LOT of time and patience to get them comfortable in their new surroundings.

Visits just equate to knowing the visitor.....not knowing that the visitor will keep him safe. My dogs know and love when my brother comes for a visit, but they would not feel safe and secure out at the pet store or park with him. They know him as friendly....not as an alpha type protector.

So very true... I grew up with the so called biters and most of theirs was protection but after being in a shelter for however long and not knowing its background, I wouldn't have taken it into a busy situation like a pet store. Would have taken it home and gotten it acclimated first but that is just me. Altho didn't even get to do that with my last one. I picked him up at the shelter and he went directly to the vet and spent the night getting xrays. Then it was 2 yrs of surgery and rehabs. Dumbest, happiest and most loving dog I ever had and still miss him a lot.

Friend of ours went to adopt a rescue dog today. He got to take the dog out for awhile before signing the papers. He took the dog in the pet food store and dog knocked some stuff over. When our friend bent over to pick the stuff up the dog bit him in the face.

OMG! Not liking that one! Sorry to hear that for your friend and the dog.
