Not so much discreet as respectful. What I'm saying is, why be rude if you don't have to be? If someone asks that you stop in an indoor space, or if you specifically know its prohibited to vape in that space then it's just plain rude to do it. Put yourself in someone else's shoes. Say there's this woman, or man spraying copious amounts of perfume, cologne, etc... You're trying to eat a meal, or you're in a meeting with this person, or whatever in an enclosed space. You ask that they stop. They just continue, all while telling you of the health benefits of the perfume, air freshner, etc. Would you consider that to be rude? There IS a smell to vapor. There IS a haze around the area for a moment. It may not linger as long, or smell as bad as cigarettes, but if the person just continues after being asked not to it's just rude.

Please understand I don't believe that the same LAWS should be applied to vaping as they are applied to smoking. However, if a business owner does not want to allow people to vape on their property, that should be up to them. Same goes for the employer. If they do not wish to have vapor in the office, then employees should not vape in the office. That doesn't mean I agree with any anti nicotine policy some employers and insurance companies are coming up with to lower insurance rates. What someone does at home is their business. When on someone else's property, in someone else's space, that someone else should be respected. On my property and in my space, I expect to be respected as well. As for public land - outdoors to me is fair game. Inside a government building however, seems as inappropriate to me as it would be inappropriate to vape during a meeting.
you may want to re-read the last sentence of my post.

personally I don't think the antismoking laws should be applied to smoking. if a private business owner wants to allow smoking on the premise that is right to liberty in action. on that same note any establishment that prohibits vaping I will respect it, although this has yet to occur. my personal thinking here is the best way to improve public awareness is to vape openly in public. as to the sub ohm part, I was perfectly happy with my disposable LR attys, but I found them to be really expensive over time so I tried rebuildables, it wasn't until I started building sub ohm coils that I got a satisfying vape on them.

Again, Im a huge advocate of not hiding our vaping......within reason.Allowing ourselves to be treated like smokers by being shunted into the same dark, smelly corner is the surest way for us to get treated like them.

By that same token Im also not about to tell you what is and isnt within reason. You have to figure that out for yourself.

BUT common sense needs to be applied here. Would you vape openly in a courtroom? Or in a meeting with your childs principal?

Im old enough to remember when smokers smoked pretty much everywhere.....grocery stores....home improvement stores.....amusement parks......movie theaters....work....on the bus etc etc.

IMO its the callous attitude and total disregard for everyone else around them that caused such a public backlash against smokers that continues to this day.

As vapers, were supposed to be smarter than this and learn from the mistakes of those who came before us.

Food for thought at least.

I was one of those unscrupulous cloud machines the other day, well kind of.
I took my 5yr old daughter and wife to the local carnival last weekend and its outside with tons of people smoking cigarettes. So, I vaped just like everyone else smoked, no harm there. However, the air was pretty still that night and my clouds hung like crazy. At a certain point, I took a solid hit and exhaled, and I watched the vapor disperse in the face of a well dressed lady (lots of scummy folk around, so feel the need to differentiate), about ten feet away. She noticed it instantly and waved her hands like she was getting attacked by bees. Midway through her disgust, she stopped, which struck me as odd. So, like the gentleman I try to be, I walked over and apologized for the cloud in her face. She said "I thought it was cigarette smoke, but it wasnt. What are you smoking, is that vanilla?" She asked. I told her its vapor not smoke, and showed her my kayfun topped vamo. We then had a conversation about how she had quit smoking using blu cigs and has been off everything for a while now.
I was happy I stopped and apologized, but I realize that situation could have been worse.

I guess we are going to belabor the cloud chasing issue further. I don't know, it's not something I've seen at all where I live. Perhaps it's a regional thing, or a fad in certain other locales, but as common as vaping is here I've never yet seen anyone blowing big clouds in public other than guys working in vape stores. To me it's just a non-issue.

As someone who works in a bar/restaurant, I see it all the time. It is quite common actually. In fact, it seems to get more and more common each month.

If your sitting at the bar and no one sitting right beside you, chase away, not a big deal. If the bar is full and people are 'forced' to sit next to you because its the only seats in the house, then courtesy is in order. If you are sitting at a table with families and kids at the tables around you, a little courtesy would be good there too.

We do 'allow it' all throughout the restaurant but just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Right now I'm vaping on melon ice on an MVP with a 1.8 coil that I built. I'm not a cloud chaser by any means but I must say I can get nice clouds going with it, at least it has the appearance of way more "smoke" than a cigarette. I have to agree with others, it's about respect. I really don't understand all the negativity towards cloud chasers. It's not something I aspire to but I do enjoy watching it at the local B&M when the guys are in there testing out their builds.

D-bags are d-bags whether they are cloud chasing or not.

I see your point. Cloud chasing in a theater is not cool... But if you ask me... neither is vaping (but that is another subject).

Please. I'm sitting here with a shiny metallic cherry red Spinner (1300 nah) with a SmokTech Trophy Tank and a rainbow-colored Ming drip tip, Steam. Vaping away on some 18 mg Moondrop Mulled Cider (apple and cinnamon and clove and I swear a little touch of orange..I love this stuff!)

Vaping is cool as hell.
Hella cool...something like that lol..

(blows a big floaty vape ring and signs out)

It's easy to throw 'them' to the wolves to try to save yourselves. Just as it's easier to hide and run than it is to stand up straight.

Once upon a time, in that magical land that never existed, people were free to do as they wished as long as they caused no harm to others. I would like to believe that could be true someday in the future. Part of the price to achieve that goal is to refuse to let them take anyone who causes no harm to others, no matter if you agree with them or not. Otherwise there will be no one there for you when they come to take you away.

people are scared lunatics.

With smokers they get all paranoid. Dont smoke inside... dont smoke close to doors or windows. dont smoke in parks. Oh the smokers made a thing that can be smoked anywhere, is harmless, but still produces smoke? We can have that.... lets start pushing for bans on these completely harmless things that I am scared as hell about. for no reason... other than the fact that i am a crazy lunatic. see me be crazy. No vaping... because.... because we said so!

Heres something that honestly needs to stop.

    re: subohm vapes.

The FAVORITE line of someone who is "against" subohm vaping.

"Listen, Im not against people vaping how they want to vape. You wanna blow clouds, go ahead brother, vape on. What I am worried about, is these whippersnappers and yahoos who are taking they're cheaply made china atomizer, building a .1ohm octo coil, and vaping on their china made mech, using Trustfire 18350 batteries. They're going to kill themselves, and we're going to be the ones who take the heat"

Or something along those lines. I highlighted the key points.

Issue number 1- The fear of people going below the .2ohm mark. 99% of subohm vapers stay above or right around the .2ohm mark. Very few venture down lower, and when its done, its done for the sake of, lets see what can be done. The 1% of people who are building past the tenth of an ohm, and going to the 1/100th of an ohm.. meaning, .09-.01ohm.. US subohm vapers generally agree thats pushing it too far. But again, thats not the subohm community as a whole, thats LITERALLY handfuls of people, tops, and what they're doing is experimenting. NO FIRST DAY VAPER IS DOING THIS.

Issue number 2, and this is the main one:

Subohm vapers using 18350 Trustfires, Ultrafires, or any battery with the name "fire", and sizes below 18650.

Let me make this very clear.

This is 2014. Its not 2009.

NO ONE IS SUBOHMING WITH PIECE OF CRAP BATTERIES. Im sorry. I shouldnt say no one. There IS that one numpty who is going to ask on this forum, or another forum, or a FB group, if his new counterfiet mech is good "fo dem cloudz" and if his 18490 trustfire with a tear in the wrapping is suitable. Before he knows whats going on, he'll be berated with information and insults to last a decade.

Perhaps when subohming was JUST getting started, and people were building .9ohm single coils and being told they were killing ten kittens per coil wrap, yeah, maybe THEN there was a rampant issue with everyone not knowing what batteries to use.

in 2014, Battery safety is at the forefront of vaping. And the batteries we have available today, are freaking awesome, and they're only getting better.

Its probably obvious Im a subohmer. Ive got tons of batteries. Ive got drawerfulls of 30amp and higher 18650s, 15amp 18490s and 8 and 10amp 18350s. I personally tend toward the 18650, and I like to use Sony, Efest Red or Purple, AW IMR, LG or MNKE. All bought from verified authentic retailers, charged on a high end quality charger, and inspected for damage regularly.

I am not an anomaly. ANYONE who subohms all the time like I do, does exactly the same things I do, and uses the same safe batteries I do.

Im not saying battery safety and information isn't important. In fact, Im saying its PARAMOUNT. Because it IS. What Im also saying, is the argument why subohm vaping is dangerous is because were all using cheap piece of crap batteries, really doesn't hold much water today. There will always be new, interested in subohm, vapers, who DONT know about battery safety.. but there was a time when YOU didn't know about it either.

Id also like to add just briefly: Being a subohm vaper is not the same thing as being a cloud chaser. I honestly dont even know what the heck a cloud chaser is. Is it someone who vapes only 0mg, has never smoked, and purely vapes to produce big clouds? Ok, fine. How many of these people exist compared to former smokers?

I ONLY subohm these days. And while my setups can and do produce big dense clouds, thats not what Im vaping for. I dont care how big the cloud is, what I care about, and the REASON I subohm, is twofold.

    1. Flavor intensity. I call it the flavor EXPLOSION. .3ohm dual coil on a top quality atomizer produces a flavor intensity I have yet to be able to replicate with any other type of vape. And I didnt' just jump right into mechs and drippers, I started vaping on a blu, and went through every step or phase of vaping there is before I arrived at mechs.

    2. Lung Fill. THIS right here, is why Im able to say Ill never touch another cigarette again. Cigs couldnt even do this for me, and its SOO much more satisfying than just a throat hit. That dense vapor lung fill is what I, and many many other subohmers crave. The cloud is just a byproduct.

I can honestly say I have never vaped with the intention of exhaling a large plume of vapor as the main goal, nor do I care. Im after flavor and lung fill.

Yeah, don't knock it til you try it. I liken this to people driving ferraris.

Will they go faster than your traditional car? Probably, it's a Ferrari.

Are they meant for the "advanced" auto enthusiast? Probably, unless you've got the scratch to have it as a first car.

If the wreck it, will they get badly injured? Probably, they aren't the most durable machine.

Most of the word drives, but most of the world do not drive ferraris. Does the risk and expense factor exhibited by those who do give the rest of us a bad name? Not really, no.

While it isn't the best analogy, there is no right or wrong way to vape. There is, however a right and wrong way to vape SAFELY. I would never wish injury on a person, but if the person injured ignored battery safety, amp limits and the like, I wouldn't be quite as sympathetic. I sub ohm, but I check my builds, I use high drain batteries with 30a limits, I double check my resistance. I may pull out my provari at Dennys, but I'd never break out the king and magma and chuck clouds. Common courtesy and common sense go hand in hand. Those without it (be they cloud chasers, evod users, etc) are what make use look bad... Just like the wreck less ferrari owner who ends up dead due to speeding, makes other sports car enthusiasts look bad.

Meh! They can keep the socialists.

    This is America.

I do agree with the spirit of your post however.

Hitler said: “The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. In this way, the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed.”

In other cultures its called a bloodless coup.

Im afraid were seeing this happen more and more in this country every day and that were so busy fighting amongst ourselves (I'm guilty of it too...just ask anyone in the Outside) that were not seeing the big picture.

United we Stand, divided we fall is such an important admonition its printed on our money.Weve all seen it thousands of times but how many of us actually stop to ponder what it really means?

I agree subohm and cloud chasing are not the same. I think most people have been a cloud chaser at some point. They get their first device, puff on it, enjoy it but kind of wish it produced a little more vapor. They look to something a little better. Sometimes they find it right away and are satisfied, other times they will never be satisfied no matter how big of clouds they are blowing.

I am foremost a flavor junkie. I use a Pair of KFL+'s (somewhere between 0.8-0.9 ohm) while out and about. Medium clouds, great flavor. When I'm at home or a local vape shop I will run my drippers more often than not. My drippers are usually running between 0.2-0.5 ohm and can easily be considered fog machines. Like others have stated I do it more for flavor and lung fill, but the cloud production is a fun plus- in the right setting. I have dripped in public, non-vape shop settings. A few times at a local bar that has been able to circumvent laws to allow smoking in it. No one complained, I got a few compliments on the scent and more than a few "Wow! What is that?" inquiries. I ran my drippers a couple times at a local poker room that allows vaping (but no smoking) that got 1 negative response from a guy that would find reason to complain about winning the lottery. Everyone else was indifferent or asked about it. The most negative response I have gotten was when I was dripping in the smoking break room at my work. The room is about 15'x25' with 2 large air filtration units and multiple air exchanges as well. I was always a considerate smoker (and now vaper), blowing away from people around me. The vapers in the break room had no issue with it, but (ironically) the smokers would comment things like, "Are you trying to kill me?" or "You're going to make me sick! Stop doing that in here!". I can comfortably say that I do work with a lot of divas though, so these comments were taken with a grain of salt. I tried to inform said complainers, but received stubborn resistance and ignorance (like I said, divas). I no longer run my drippers at work because I am trying to help the vaping cause with said ignorant divas. My work had well over 1000 smokers and now about 1 in 3 is vaping instead. Word is getting out, albeit slowly.

To me the amount of clouds Im blowing are not NEARLY as important as the ones Im inhaling :)
