Cloud Chaser's only! Opinions on best/safest mech and battery for sub ohm chasing?

Hey guys... I have been toying around with the idea of joining a couple of local cloud competitions for a while. I am a solid coil builder as I have been doing it for about a year now. But what are some of your opinions on the best/safest mech and battery to use in conjunction for competitions. Best clouds I personally have produced were off of a dual 24 ga. parallel coil build reading about 0.17 ohms. I didn't want to go any lower for fear that I didn't have a legit sony VTC5 and maybe a re wrapped efest or something. Ideas?

P.S. Before I get bombarded with anti sub ohm propaganda I know the risks. Remember that even the "safest" builds... a battery can still fail and blow up on you at any time. I am fully aware and have all of the test equipment I need. Thank you in advance.

Man, those cats are rocking like .06 20 gauge parallels, or dual 18's.....not me jack.. I'm skeert, lol. Fun to watch though.


Some places are putting a cap on the builds now, like a .2 ohm build. The one I saw a 24 dual parallel took it.

My idea would be not to put your personal safety in the hands of the members of a public forum.
Why not ask the other competitors what they recommend? Or research some more and make your own educated decision?
Sounds like you already know that there are risks associated with your future endeavor.

I guess my only suggestion would be to know which battery you are actually using. /shrug

I'm in the same boat with ya trying to get an awesome setup for comps if your willing to look into 26650s id recommend keeppower they are a 30 amp continuous with a 50 amp pulse minimum 4200 mah drain and just plain look sweet they were recomended to me by kaezzeil(not sure if I spelt that right lol) I've been hearing they are called the Sony killer.

Well I am doing my research... I am not up to date on the latest and greatest batteries, and hoping some people would list off something I haven't seen before. Then I could research it more thoroughly and make a more informed decision later. Thank you rodeo for being one to actually suggest something.

For cloud chasing you really don't need a .01 build.
It's more about airflow and draw speed, than super sub ohms.

I still like the vtc4's, but probably going to 26650 soon.

Have you seen VAPE SHERIFF's videos or JOSH WILSON ? Those are the builds that you're going to see.

Dual Battery Box mod with decent (VTC4/5) 18650s. Problem solved. Go down to a 0.05 if you want, have at it.

I'm using VTC4s.
What's most important is to buy from a reliable source, because there are many fakes out there and in that case you don't really know what you're going to get.

The safest battery is the one you don't push too hard.

That being said... would love to see more videos on how the various batteries we use react to a dead short.

I use an IPV2, Mutation X set up, 50 watts, 5 second hit and my car is white. I run it at exactly one ohm, dual coil. Like guy said up a few post, airflow and draw can make a HUGE difference.
