I got my first bottle of CLS last week and I have to say the juice is amazing right out of the package! I am now steeping it, but I couldn't help trying some! ;)

My only question is this. On the exhale, I am getting a really chalky taste. Nothing chemical, nothing that tastes bad, just chalky. Has anyone else experienced this and will it go away with steeping?

How high is your nic? I would guess with some steeping that will go away. With higher nic you can have strange aftertastes when the juice hasn't steeped very long. Give it a week then try again. And make sure and shake up the bottle very well!! :D

Great feedback - question - what's your order number (so I can connect to an internally tracked batch/lot number). I'd like to get an actual mix date so i can advise on steeping.

This is you first experience with CLS, yes?

Which devices are we talkin' about (mech, vv?) (atty) - what devices have you tried it in?

Happy to help!~ Thank you kindly for the candid feedback!~

Order # is 17122. Born on date is 5/29. Im using an eVic @ 4V, 7.2 watts with an SVT Nova dual coil @ around 2.2 ohms, brand new coil from the package, rewicked immediately with organic cotton. I also tried a bit in a friends KFL at 1.1 ohms, also with organic cotton.

I want this noted to anyone who reads this, I am NOT complaining at all. :D This stuff is AMAZING as it is, even before steeping!! I have just never experienced that before and didn't know if it was just something in here that is normal for CLS. Its not bad at all, just enough that I noticed it. Even if it stays that way after a month or more, it will in no way stop me from using every last drop and ordering more! :D

edit: Sorry, yes this is my first time trying CLS.

GMayberry you can come on here and flat out NOT like something and it's all good. We are just trying to help you to figure it out. You're all good. :thumb:

Hahaha! Trust me, I am one that will voice my opinion, good or bad! ;) I just wanted to be clear to anyone who may have never tried it before to not think it was a complaint and take it as a reason not to order.

Oh, please don't think I think you are complaining - this is par for the course with folks that are new to this liquid or that. The worst case scenario is I surrender to the "taste is subjective" Gods - which might be the case - but I'm the inquisitive problem solving type that qualifies as a glutton for punishment. HAHA

First things first, understand - if you ask the liquid guy, he will always blame the hardware. I personal favorite guinea pigs are stock heads and components that come bathed in manufacturing lubricants and other nasties from China. If you ask the people who make the hardware, they will always blame the liquid. The truth is, the reality is likely somewhere in the middle for most people - a "great vape" is a synergy between the user, the hardware, and the liquid... when all the moons are aligned, your eyes roll back in your head like the Exorcist. If any part of it is mal-adjusted, MEH.

Did you get the same experience with both the Kayfun and the SVT Nova? (both, good devices btw). If yes, we can eliminate most of the hardware issues, then we start tweaking the common variables... the cotton is what I am pointed at specifically. I have experienced that chalky taste you are referring to - not specifically with CLS - but I get it from time to time when I was using Rolled (Sterile) Cotton from CVS. Do you have any silica or other wicking material you can experiment with to test the hypothesis?

Yes, the Kayfun had the same aftertaste. I have a 5 pack of new coils (with silica wick of course) for the SVT at home and I will try a bit more on a fresh one from the package tonight. I just always rip out the new wick and rewick with organic cotton (from CVS too :) ) ever since I discovered 1: how easy it is and 2: how much better flavors are! I will get back to you in a few hours. I am still in the office right now.

edit: I have been using the cotton for several weeks now and have never had that chalkiness with other flavors. (your creme brulee included)

I don't know if it's the culprit - that just happens to be the only time I have experienced it (that I can recall). I hope it helps, might not though. If you have CB, and can run it through the same tank as the CLS, you could know for sure and isolate it to the liquid. I'll go pull that batch bottle and see what I get from it out of curiosity!~ I wonder if silica will treat it better?

Sometimes I get a chalky FEEL from CLS and CB. To be clear, it doesn't taste chalky... I've always assumed it has something to do with weird sensitivities I have sometimes when my mouth/tongue feels slightly burned or dried out no matter how much I hydrate. I can drink a gallon of water a day and it doesn't help. Other juices do this too, like most fruits. I dunno.

Kent, sorry to be late responding. We have had t-ball and cheer like crazy this week! I did rewick with silica and also tried some in a new clearo on my fiance's little Ego and with both, the chalkiness is still there. I don't get it at all with the CB. I am going to stop trying for now though, I have about half the bottle scattered around a few different tanks now! HAHA I am going to let the rest steep for a month or so and enjoy the yumminess!!! Again, this is nothing that is bad or ruins it, just an oddity that I had not experienced before. :vapor:

It's all good - trying to help! Try a 50/50 mix of CLS and CB sooner than later - some of the folks swear it's better than either, alone!~

Kent, I just wanted to let you know that I am back home now, and I now also have a dripper I am wrapping at 1.1 ohm and the CLS has NO CHALKINESS!!! :D Still using the organic cotton, so no idea what it was. Maybe it was the coils in the others, who knows? But the issue is gone whatever it was. And yes, steeping has made the CLS and the CB even more amazing than before I left!!

Kent has said something to the effect that a good vape experience is the harmony of the juice, equipment, and the user. Now obviously you can't change your own tastes (well, aging does that sometimes) but figuring out what equipment you like and finding juices that suit you is the journey that every vaper goes through. For me, CLS tastes best in a dripper with a single 1.2-1.4ohm coil, cotton wicked with a VV so I can chase down that right temperature. Usually 12-15 watts. I can say that recently I steeped a bottle of Mother's Milk and after 2 months I got an extremely chalky, powdery taste. So bad that I threw it out. I have never gotten remotely close to that with CLS, however.
