    Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo(R) Deluxe Winder for Jewelry Making had this for a few months....works great. A review on Amazon gave these rods measurements -

    18g = 1.22mm
    15g = 1.83mm
    10g = 3.25mm
    8g = 4.06mm
    6g = 4.88mm

    Anyone knows the correct sizes for this? Especially the two smaller ones. Besides these sizes, I got this one from somewhere: 1.1 mm - 1.5 mm - 3.2 mm - 4.2 mm - 5.2 mm
    Which are more accurate? I'm guessing the amazon reviewers one but would be nice if someone could confirm.

    I love the gizmo! Really easy to make coils. But I'm missing mandrills in between 1.8 and 3.2mm, like 2mm and 2.5mm. Are 3.25mm even usable for anything?

    .055" music wire bent into a mandrel (top) that I don't use any more.
    .055" improved mandrel (middle) where the loop that holds my wingnut is turned 90 degrees to face the wire.
    .055" tool to mount the coil (bottom) courtesy of my brother darkzero

    Thanks for the tip! I was wondering what kind of wire to use. I understand piano wire is ideal because it has a high yield strength but will deform plastically when bend beyond that. Now I only have to find a place that sells a small amount of it in different sizes X)

    But I was wondering why you went for .055" (1.397mm) since that is almost the same as 1.22mm?

    I guess the ideal self-made coiling gizmo would simply be a wooden vape stand with a few holes for shortened mandrils. Or even a few holes drilled into the wooden box where you can keep your rebuilding supplies.

    I run .055" because it, to me produces about the smallest coil that I can wick simply :)

    It sounds similar to the size of the smallest mandrel but it's considerably larger when you hold them side to side. It's nearly as large as the 2nd size mandrel.

    I also run it as props to darkzero - the pioneer of coil jigs :)

    I was chillin' the other night and was wrapping a gift for my grandson and while I was handling the scotch tape dispenser my mind wandered. I was thinking to myself that it would be cool to have a coil winder with the scotch tape dispenser type design. I pictured a casing that you could put a whole roll of wire as it comes when we buy it and put inside the dispenser, you feed the wire thru and close. On the outside of the dispenser have a mini mandrell that winds the wire fed from the dispenser that you would feed thru ( like a needle) then wind your coil to your particular preference then cut. Kind of like a wire dispenser/jig!!? Did I lose you all or can you picture what I'm talking about?? :)
    Sound crazy or a good idea??:confused:
    Okay so all you engineering minded reonauts get to work!!

    Maybe Darkzero can come up with a coil/jig/wire dispenser???? :) see my rant above! :)

    I think we can make it from out current coil winding gizmo! May have to play around with it when I get home, great idea haha

    Thanks! I have my moments. I can picture it but that's where I end! May I get an honorable mention if this comes to fruition? Proprietary patent on my thoughts??? $$$$$$$$$!!!!
    Would be even better taking it to the next level and be battery operated! Push a button and the mandrell turns with the wire threaded thru and stop after desired amount of wraps. :) Mind is going now!!

    Well dang.....I've spent about two years on a quest for my favorite Reos and I'm down to only one left that I absolutely need....well maybe two:D...so now I've been on a best coil-making/best wicking frenzy!

    I have the DZ coil maker but I just now ordered the Artistic coil maker...~sigh~ will it never end?

    So I'm thinking on the side that you wind... Drill a hole into the gizmo to where you can put a mandrel through the spool of kanthal or bolt to hold it to the mounting part of the gizmo and let the wire feed up to the winding mandrel. When I get some free time I'll try to mock something up but between hockey playoffs, full time work, 2 kids and their extra curriculars, it's insane hah.

    I took a wire coat hanger and formed it to the same shape as the coil gizmo mandrels. Its bigger than 2nd smallest and smaller than 3rd smallest. I was using the second smallest mandrel and the wicks kept getting burnt. now with the coat hanger mandrel I have not had any problems and getting fantastic vapes

    +1 on the wire hanger. I was using the smallest mandrel and it seemed the 2mm ReadyxWick was constricted in the juice absorption. In my kit the second smallest mandrel was way too big for the 2mm.
    With the wire hanger being slightly bigger in diameter than the smallest mandrel the 2mm ReadyxWick fits perfectly, absorbs much more juice and a much improved vapor and flavor production

    Just a note on the wire dispenser, I think the idea is more or less that you have the right hand on the crank and in the other you can hold the wire and keep it really tout and guide it closely to the coil. So I don't think it's what you'd really want.

    And damn me, I remember distinctly having some old wire hangars and throwing them all out to make room for a more uniform look of wooden coat hangers :/

    As long as you have something like an eraser (SxD engineering) to hold the wire to the spool you should be able to make an auto feed type deal if winding on the mandrel. I don't think it will be too difficult to make this type of thing happen, it's more so finding the free time to put the idea into effect.

    I checked a clothes hanger - 0.086 inches. The needle I am using is .083.
    I am going to rig up a jig tomorrow and will post pictures if it works.

    Hello all,

    Got my First working rebuild Kayfun Lite + Plus and Provari ....... I'm down to 2 analogs a day (today I only had it working in the afternoon)

    I can tell I'm close just need this super combo working super

    Just simply:

    1) Will this work suitable for coils used in my Kayfun Lite Plus and Provari for an amazing vape? (I am not into dripping or HUUUGGEE clouds)

    2) Is it easy?

    3) What OTHER stuff do it need to get the most out of it ?

    4) I have Kanthal 0.25 right now and Ekowool - I am willing to change this if someone thinks there is a MUCH better way that leads to a better experience

    5) Any other handy tips or crucial bits of information ??

    Much thanks and appreciation to all
