I have a DID clone, the vulcan. i got it up and running, but the resistance of the coil keeps wildly fluctuating. it started as a 2.4 ohm coil. then it went up to 6.6. then i got an OP error, so i opened up the top cap and prodded the coil a bit, evening it out and tightening it up. it went back to around 2.8. but it keeps going back up, sometimes over 9. it keeps shorting out then going to normal, then up way high. anyone know whats going on? the the coil getting screwed up by opening the top cap?

looks like that was my problem too, except for me it was the positive screw. it seems to have stabilized on resistance. now im having a vapor production issue. ive got my hole lined up with my wick but the vapor production is paltry. :( what gives?

Check the voltage of your device. If your atty is around 2.4ohms you want to give it something around 5volts. At least 4.5volts. jmo

That sounds about right to me.

The positive screw can be a pain to get right, because sometimes the kanthal will wrap around the threads in the center post and prevent the top screw from tightening all the way. I just changed out one of my AGA's and had the same thing happen, but it's a quick fix.

Take off the cap and fire it. Sometime only half the coils are firing and the vapor production diminishes. Then 'flick' them with a toothpick or needle to see if it fires better. This happens to mine occasionally and requires a quick tweak.

yes i am aware of the proper voltage, but thank you for your help.

V Ninja, i think you nailed it. my wire was wrapped around the threads, preventing a tight screw down of the pos screw.

you guys rock.

How are you liking the RBA's? ready to give up standard tanks yet? :)

If not yet, you will be soon...

Reviving an old thread to share two cents.

Just a reminder to check your coil connections if you find your resistance fluctuating.

New to mechanical vaping as of two days ago. Been using an awesome 1ohm coil on my AGA+Sig8 and noticed today the resistance was fluctuating wildly. It was changing, from hit to hit on my VAMO, to anywhere from 1.3 to 2.2 ohms. I realized the nuts on the positive post were slightly loose. I tightened them up and immediately resistance was back to 1.0ohm. Vaped it a bit more on the Sigelei then back to the VAMO to check, still right at 1.0.

Thanks ECF! :)

Genny+Mech vaping... it's where it's at, man.

Don't get me wrong, whatever keeps you off the stinkies is great and I could still easily resist the stinkies with nothing more than a 650eGo and a CE4 but... dayum... I feel like I've joined a semi-exclusive club of folks who just "get it".

If beef is "what's for dinner" then I say: "Genny Mech vaping, it's what's for vapor"

VAPE ON!!

i just got an aga and a ghetto cobra in 2 days ago.
been playin with them a little.
haven't got it right enough to be fully impressed yet.
it also seems the ohms change in relation to how (too) close the coil is to the center post.
i guess i've gotten used to the cool hit from my protanks.
seems i don't like a warm or hot hit.
so i'm trying to a good vapor production without a hot vapor.
any ideas ?
