just finished my new toy .... what I realy needed was a winder to wind small springs from stainless steele ...working on a mechanical micro pump for e juice . so might as well make a station to do it all.
the ohm meter was resqued from my old tester and it came from ebay a long time ago. the keyless chuck also from ebay about 4.00 dollars w shipping. the alligator leads will reach over to test the ohms on a coil while still on the winder without cutting the wire so you can decide to ad or remove to get to the ohms u want. no it is not shorting out !! because the end halv of the mandrel is insulated w a little scotch tape. just slide it over there .
also put a 510 connector for testing build up attys with a twist ...took a bottom 510 from a old carto and silver soldered it into a bullet casing ...scewed that into the 510 on the tester ..very fast to drop any atty in and read the ohms !
the other 510 on the deck is for rebuilding ..nice solid platform to mount the coils and wicking . ..ejuce ...and test fire .
allplugged into my powersupply . the meter into 12v w banana plugs to power the meter . the other plugged into the variable output with an rca plug for dry burning and test firing at any voltage up to about 11.v or so .
a little tension on the spool and on the wire prevents the springy wire to unrevel into a ball of tangled mess !
are we having fun jet ?

hi gdeal !
thanks for your reply..no I did not ...I was thinking a ceramic mandrel would be nice ,just findind one is not so easy !
good idea ...this tube is the green lauer lock tube .it is 2.1mm .wound a coil with it it is perfect even without heating and pinching w tweezers .all in less than 10 seconds .now I got to find some ss wire about 28 gage annealed to wind some weak small springs and then harden them .want them for a valve system for a bottom feeder pump .

poland, and the brassy lands of google
This blows the doors off of my 2mm brass tube that I use for winding. At 3 inches in length, mine is more travel friendly tho. :)

The crank reminds me of a school pencil sharpener, nothing like what they use nowadays.

For your springs, how about using guitar strings, I think the e string is close to what you are looking for, and your must have a music shop close to you.

Very nice job! I like the idea of the tape on the mandrel.

I'm a bit surprised you have the spool of wire and tensioner so far to the left of the mandrel. I presume you use a finger to pull the wire over so that it feeds properly onto the coil? Would there have been a problem with putting these all in-line so the wire fed naturally onto the mandrel?

I put it to the left so I have room for my fingers to guide the wire and have control over tension .the tension device is only there to hold the ends not to unrevel.

Rolf check this out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/607809-raptor-coil-build-test-mod.html maybe could add a power module since you have so much room in the box there. Just an idea we can kick around what you think?

hi rhelton
I prefere to use my powersupply so I can read the volts and how many amps it is drawing . and don't want to duplicate all that.
I saw mamues rig very nice and professional ! you pick the day and we will have another brain storming and buildind session .
c u soon.

More coils, a little drilling, and whatever you need to do we will do it. Next week sometime.

and the mamu box she built I was thiking I gonna do one. but may just straight battery power to run the coil. Adding a okr or raptor will raise the stakes a bit. would be nice though.

Wow! Is there anything you can't build? I really like your idea of checking coil resistance before removing from the mandrel. I always seem to be interrupted when wrapping and then lose my count. If you found an insulating mandrel, and the spool isn't grounded, seems you might even check resistance as you wrap. Nice work.

hi love vanilla
we gave it a good workout when rhelton came over jesterday. he is using wire coat hanger and we cut some 3 inch pieces for him.
what do you know ....ame diameter ...and it has insulating on them .works great ! we also tried some twisted 30 gage micro coils and they work nice . rhelton made a duel coil for a magma dripper from it . also twisted some flat ribbon but it will take an atty with bigger scews .
so we are having fun ..
