Coils turning into rust color?

So I just put some brand new coils in and they seam to be turning into a rust color on the sides of them, Iv never seen this color before is this bad in Anyway?
Also another question I know copper and brass tends to tarnish after awhile how do I get all the black tarnish crap off of my atty? Thanks guys!

Rust colour is a little odd, did you overdo things when priming the coil while having hot legs?

As for the black stuff, a dab of acetone on a q-tip will do ya.

Kanthal wire has iron in it, not uncommon to have more iron in one segment compared to the next. Personally I'd rebuild the atty, just my personal preference, better to be safe than sorry.

Blackish patina (copper) and tarnish. A good polishing with some water and baking soda to make a safe buffing paste for the atty will work, buff, wipe down, and rinse in water, mod itself you can use brasso polish, paying care to your contact points (pins, threads, switches) and a good wipe down after the polish dries works.

I sorta assumed that coils take on that color after juicing them; all my coils look like that (or close), and they've worked and tasted just fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but maybe someone else can shed some light on this and tell us if something is wrong!

A salt and vinegar bath also works to clean brass and (especially) copper, but if you're just talking about the centre pin, that dab-o-acetone will do ya.

[EDIT] IMO, a fresh coil should not look like that. Fuzzy pic to be sure, but that looks fried.

Well normally the coils get black yea but if you could actually see it it's a nice bright red, it's weird haha

I'vent had a single coil to remotly look like this...
Granted the picture isn't all that great. I would try dryburn and clean it, if not just remake it.
If anything it should turn black when vaping, like darker liquids (such as NETs)

If it doesn't come of with a single dryburn-cleaning, just remake it.

The one in the rear looks pretty normal, but the one in the front is still awful brown. I suspect you've got a coil firing hotter than the other.

Hard for me to say much else, my coils gunk black before they ever have a chance to change from blue. The realities of custard lovin'.

Dual coil....one slightly discoloured, one completely... Could the 'rusty' coil be the one closer to the air hole ? Both coils same ohmage ?

the other coils starting to turn more red and the one that's red now is slightly closer to the air holes
