That evil bottle is 15 bucks at any liquor store in Oregon, they keep it behind the counter so you have to know what you're asking for xD. It is no longer sold in California as they decided they cannot have that many people that drunk ..ever xD.
As far as the OP goes, I am glad that you are getting over the virus, being sick, especially that sick, is never fun. I doubt it was the hardware probably just something you picked up along the way. But glad you are feeling better.

I don't believe you can be infected from using a device imported from Asia.
Thousands of us would have contracted this disease if this was the mode of transmission.
You'd think the heat from the manufacturing would kill it.
You admit to not having traveled to Asia or Russia and tests and doctors are frequently wrong.

/shudder. exhalation-type infection is possible then. honestly, when i am in public and hear coughing it gives me the heeby jeebies. the mobility of people combined with exhalation transmitted viruses/bacteria has a pretty devastating effect. at least as far as i have seen, this is true past and present.

If you can't find EverClear what about Golden Grain? It is also 190 proof. I use it for cleaning all things Vapor related and it works like a champ.
I doubt that it could survive the heating process. But I would not want to test it. I do not feel that lucky. Good idea to use everclear or vodka on the wick and tank. I am not a virologist shame my neighbor moved he was with the CDC. Hantavirus is in a lot of the US now. That is why I tell folks to not chase off ferrel cats. They keep the rodent pop down. I bait around and in my house as Texas is one that has it. That is one nasty bug. Glad you pulled out.
Okay, simple question then: can an all American vaping system be purchased? I wont touch Chinese liquids due to the pet food mess. Chinese batteries are probably okay. What about American atomizers, cartomizers, cartridges, etc? Can we buy American for everything that ends up un our mouths? I'm even willing to pay more...?

You actually can buy Everclear in CA, you just have to be looking for it. It's only going to be 151 proof here instead of 190 proof, due to law. Nevada and Arizona both sell the 190, so if your planning a road trip...

Cigarbabe, I prefer to buy American on most things anyway. I wont go crazy fretting over it, but I'd always prefer to spend my cash close to home. Vaping had been the one exception. Having been through the pet food scare with an animal I was responsible for may lean me in the direction of "no imports", but this thread isn't making me stampede!
FYI - If it's there and has survived...sniffing it is the last thing you want to do.
I did not say there was a definite link, but it is one heck of a coincidence. There are about 5 or more different varieties of the hantavirus and the one is the US is just one of those strains. The Hantaviruses are also just a part of the largest family of viruses which also includes Ebola. Our medical establishment is hardly infallible, and they tend not to boardcast bad news for a whole lot of reasons. Right now there is a major West Nile Virus outbreak in Maryland that is filling up the emergency rooms in the counties around the Chesapeake bay and you hear little or nothing about it and we have had an almost epidemic problem with the tick diseases like lyme and Erhlicosis for 15 years or more and you still don't hear about it. My wife got servely ill five years ago and the hospital said they did not know what it was, but then the health department contacted her and said the wanted to know where she the camphobacter food poisoning.
My main point was that it might be a good idea to clean or disinfect your smoke devices before you use them because this is still unregulated industry.
If you don't want to that is up to you.
For those curious as to what my symptoms were I will list them
Fever, chills, weakness, severe headache, swollen tonge, throat and stomach, kidney swelling, liver swelling, kidney and liver enzymes off of the charts, brain swelling, water build up in my tissues, terrible pain and malaise, disorentation, loss of balance, normal white cell count, and it took three weeks to recover, to be able to eat a normal sized meal, and for food to taste good again.
The Doc's were puzzled, but they said that in their opinion it was a very virolent virus who's symptoms presented themselves like the Asian form of Hantavirus and they wanted to know if I had visited Asia recently which I had not.
My main point was that it might be a good idea to clean or disinfect your smoke devices before you use them because this is still unregulated industry.
