With the tax increase on tobacco, it's going to come down either smoking or eating for me. I've tried to quit smoking SO many times with SO many failures. My last quit lasted approximately...a few hours. I heard of this electronic cigarette & it is very intriguing--telling my mom about it, she has asthma, emphysema, copd, and still smokin'.

For last several years, I've been smoking a brand called Infinity (Indian res cigs) Full Flavor Kings. Not as harsh like Camels, but I do like a strong cig. I drag kinda hard on short cigs.

Does anyone here have a recommendation for a certain brand of unit (whatever it's called) and juice (is that correct?)

I bought one of the NJOY's a while ago - been struggling with it the last few days. Luckily I had purchased a DES901 from Altsmoke, and this thing is AWESOME... I absolutly love it.

Altsmoke has a nice darker emerald green one on sale now - its really nice.
DSE901

I purchased some blank cartridges as well, so I can fill up with my juice...

so i am guessing it is the device itself that makes the drag strong or not? (as opposed to the type of "juice")

I have only owned the Janty so I have nothing to compare it to, but so far I can tell you it can hit weak or strong depending if you prime puff it or not. After a couple hours with it, you learn the best way to drag on it to get what you want. I tend to drag on it, then let go of the button and keep drawing for another second or so. Gives me some air to calm it down and also cools the atomizer a bit so it doesn’t sit there and bake with juice on it.
I find that if I don't do that, it hits pretty hard.
These guys are right, however. It is not really going to taste like what you are used to. Let go of that idea and you will be successful. You are going to find that after a few days, you don't WANT it to taste like smoke. You get everything you ever got from a tobacco cig except the rotten taste, burning smell and the mess (e-cigs are messy in a whole different way though). This is coming from someone who smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years. After 1 week, I’m only smoking 3-4 cigarettes a day. When I got this thing, I was only going to use it as a supplement; I had no intention of quitting smoking. However, i am finding it fills my cravings, urges and habits so well, I don't even really want a cigarette very often. I just can't get past the first one in the morning and the ones after I eat.
Now I am thinking I may as well just quit. And for the first time ever, the thought of quitting doesn't terrify me. It's very liberating.

Anyway, my thoughts on this are just to help you better understand that it really can replace tobacco if you are committed. It has it’s pro’s and con’s, but you can satisfy those chemical and mechanical addictions with one of these. It is not, however, inexpensive.

Just buy something the folks here recommend and remember this: If you don't like it, you really won't be out much. The e-cig is an oem's dream come true… made of 3 parts and all of these parts are consumables with a short lifespan. Any juice you buy can be used in any other ecig you buy. Just use it until all the atomizers die, then move on to the next unit you want to try. Avoid buying a bunch of accessories and chargers and stuff for a particular unit until you are settled on one you like for sure and you won't be stuck with a drawer full of over priced project parts.

thanks, this all really helpful. I actually hate the taste of cigarettes and every time I've tried to quit, I noticed my tongue & throat feel better. However when I am smoking, I hate the constant taste that is there. It's just always there on my tongue!
I did originally start looking into this because of the tax increase on cigs but then i began to think of as a possibility to help me quit altogether & that's never a bad thing
