Concentrated flavors vs. diluted flavors (i.e. Capella/LA vs Flavor West)...

Guys,

question for you DIY masters... Would you recommend taking concentrated flavors and pre-mixing them before using in your eliquid recipes?

situation:

My first venture at DIY was through an initial purchase from Flavor West to receive my flavors. All of Flavor west flavors are already diluted and come in a 4 oz + bottle. I've had some luck and have made some decent vapes using Flavor west.

My 2d purchase was from Wizard labs, and I received a large mix of concentrated flavors.

Flavor west suggests starting at a 20% mix. Most of the concentrated mixes I have suggest starting at a 5% mix to test. Doing the math on that, theoretically, if I'm using both a flavor west AND a concentrated mix, I should be able to divide the % I want in the concentrate by 4, to get that needed percentage for my mix.

Well, that isn't really working for me. I thought about taking the concentrated and pre-diluting it, but I'd like to know what the general consensus is?

Any help would be great...

This is not a direct answer to your question but I can't exceed 10% with any of the flavor west flavors I've tried, most around a 6%.

Hi Art, thanks for your reply. I agree with your experience in that I also cannot exceed 10% with any FW flavor. I've also determined that I have been unsuccessful in creating any concentrated flavor over 1 - 1.5 %, but I'm still unable to use both together.

The simplest method would be to just make a separate bottle of your FW at your desired strength and another bottle of your TFA. Then mix them together. I make nearly all my flavors separately and add them to my tank to mix. That way I can change flavor profiles constantly.

I gotta agree with GaryInTexas on this one. With the concentrations so different, you are going to be some funky math just to figure out a starting point then even more testing to get it right. This is probably the easiest way to get the job done.

Flavor west suggests starting at a 20% mix..

No.

Jason (FW's owner) told me that all their flavors are designed to work at 15%.
He didn't say what PG/VG ratio but I found (with over 50 FW flavors):

12.5% in 70/30 (mostly 18mg)
16% in 50/50 (only tried a few at 15% in 50/50, needed a bump to 16%)
18% in 40/60 (mostly 12mg)
