confused about kr-808s

So I'm investigating kr-808s, but I'm getting confused by the fact that there seem to be a ton of different models that all have kr-808 in their model name, and I'm not sure of the differences between them. The KR808D-1 seems to be the most talked about, but it's too big for my taste - I want an e-cig that can "pass" as an analog (I know, I know, everyone says I'm going to grow out of that phase eventually, but I haven't yet). I've seen pics of other KR808s that seem to be smaller, super-minis, but I'm not sure what their model numbers are or where to buy them. Are the smaller version 808s just as good as the 808D-1 (in terms of flavor, throat hit) just with shorter battery life? Or are they weaker? Are parts interchangeable between the various 808 models?

The numbers are mostly threading - so the pieces connect. While there may be some brand modifications - a KR808 is a KR808, just like a 510 is a 510, regardless if it is made by Joye.

As far as size, if you do not like the KR808 because of size and want anything that actually works, you may have to wait for a few years - at least. People choose the eGo because it works, not because of size.

Everyone wants a super-mini with great performance. Everyone. They don't exist. That's the problem.

When one is invented I will be first in line...

Wish I had better news on that, but is what it is.

I have the kr8. It is the same size as a regular cigarette.

It's actually the same size as a standard (i.e. non-100s) cig? Which model? Cause most kr808s are significantly longer than regular cigarettes. I see here some pics of 808s that are shorter, but I don't know where to find them for sale (or if they're any good).

Here is a very simple rule of thumb based on today's technology. The closer it is in size to an analog - the worse it works. On one end of the scale you have the super mini's. One the other you have the box mods. Ecigs are literally a trade-off between form and function.

I finally decided on the ego (own 3 mini's including the KR) because the performance is good enough and the size is not bad. Do I wish the eGO was the size of a pencil? Yes. Is it? No.

Kr808 and Kr808D-1 are the same model. Most people just shorten the name for simplicity.

The names you see are just branding, and sometimes a different paint job - but they are all the same model.

The reason that people recommend against super-mini's is because they don't work well. They have less power, bad battery life (30min to an hour for most people), short cart life (we're talking 5-10 minutes for a moderate vaper), and most smokers find that they simply aren't good enough for them to quit cigarettes.

I understand the desire for a small device, but if it doesn't work, what is the point of it? You want it to work, right?

If you go to Vapor4Life.com, they do sell "shorty" batteries. What they sell, the Vapor King, is a branded Kr808. The shorty battery will obviously cut down on battery life, but the power remains the same. This is your best bet for something "smaller."

It will still be slightly thicker than a cig, and about the length of a 100. But if you try to go any smaller, you will be disappointed.

But wouldn't a kr808 with a smaller battery perfrom just the same, just with less battery life? Or does the smaller battery actually give you less power?

While there may be some brand modifications - a KR808 is a KR808

I'm pretty sure that's not correct.... for instance, there's the KR808D-2, which uses a different threading (E9 I believe). Not sure about the others though (which is why I'm asking)

The E9 is typically refered to as the E9. The only place that actually names them as different Kr808's, is the manufacturer's website. If you're actually buying it from a vendor, the Kr808 always means the Kr808D-1.

Let me put this into a bit of perspective from my personal experience. I am generally not a fan of bringing personal experience into things as it can, and mostly does, bias and skew logic.

I have the Smokestik Hendu. I have the Safe Cig. I have the KR808D-1. I have the eGO.

While I have 3 that are similar to an analog size, which do I use almost exclusively? The eGO. Just saying... there is a reason...and it isn't size.

But buy what you prefer - it is only money.

Thanks for the replies (and thanks for your awesome videos!).

Yeah, I know I'm never gonna get great performance out of a small ecig, but my smoking/vaping spot at work gets a lot of foot traffic, and I don't want to constantly be answering questions about "what the hell is that thing", so I really want something that doesn't attract attention.

My current (first) e-cig is a Vapure, which I'm pretty sure(?) is just a branded E9. I've actually been pretty happy with it so far (it's gotten me down from 3/4 pack to 1 analog a day), I just don't have anything else to compare it to since it's all I've ever used. Do you have any idea how E9s compare to kr8s performance wise? The only reason I'm considering trading up to a kr8 is just cause I'm assuming it'll give me better performance than my E9. Am I wrong to assume that?

You are somewhat of a light smoker at 3/4. A mini "might" work for you ok. Me, if I only had an E9 the odds of me stopping smoking would somewhere fall between slim and zero.

Another super mini is the 4081. Better than the E9, most likely. Smokestik sells those. I have that and another 4081. Do I think those are good for people that smoke 1 plus pack a day? No. For others, maybe.

Think of the Kr808 as "big brother." I suspect that if you get the Kr808, it will get rid of that last cig you're holding on to.

Even full-size Kr808's aren't that big. Really. It looks like a 120 (yes, 120 cigs do exist). A shorty will look like a 100. So try Vapor4Life.

I was in pretty much the same boat as you. I smoked about 3/4 pack per day and I wanted something that was pretty similar in appearance to a real cig. So I went with the KR808 from Vapor4life and I'm extremely pleased with it so far (just over a week in and no analogs). It's slightly bigger than a 100, but I think it's pretty hard to detect the size difference with a passing glance. I have now used it at my favorite bar and a large house party and only the people that I was talking to at the time noticed it wasn't real. In fact, a couple people at the bar approached me to bum a smoke. Also, as a moderate smoker, I have found that with the pcc and a spare battery, I can easily make it through the day.

I have an EGO that I use at home most of the day but I always take my V4L KR808 out with me when I am in public. I also use my KR808 passthru when I am on the computer and like it a lot. It gives loads of vapor and has good airflow. The manual works best but I can get by with the auto when I am out at the bar. V4L has good tasting cartos for the 808 - a lot of people will tell you that prefilled cartos taste bad, but I really do like V4L's prefilled cartos - I usually buy 1 box and if I like them I buy the liquid to refill them.

If you go with V4L, use their 'smilin' code for 10% off. I have severa kr808s that i purchased from them. I do not have any shortys. The 'regular' size is exactly 4 1/2" long and the 'xl' is 5 3/8" long. The regular is 1 1/4" longer than a real cig and the xl is 2 1/4" longer than a real cig. The width is slightly larger than a real one on both. If you are trying to blend in, then I would go with a white battery and white blank cartos while at work. If you get a kit that comes with two batteries, you chose which color you want but there is no option for each one, just for the pair, however, once you check out, in the comments section, you can request a different color for each and they are good about accomodating that (I did it twice). So you could get a white battery for the pc crowd and then a purple or camo green, etc (they have lots of colors) for your real life.

Best of luck to ya!
