I personally recommend to my friends who I had converted to hit a local brick and mortar store to get more information.
While I always show them the cigg styled products I also allow them to view the entire world of Vape.
This way they can make an educated decision on what they want to buy. I know people that used the Cigg style and and using them today and I know (Like myself) I started with them but was not happy with them so I went the mod/tank road.
Different strokes for different folks but if it is someone I know I give them the full range and allow them to decide.
I also have spare setups that I lend out to friends to allow them to try the mid range stuff before they decide. Along with samples of some of the juice I vape.
Education on this stuff really helps no matter what direction you go in!!

Just my 2 cents!

If I had to quick smoking all over again knowing what I know now.... this is what I'd reccommend to anyone:

1- Research these forums just to understand what are your choices, and what everything means.

2- Visit a vape shop and talk to someone. Look at all the hardware. Pick them up. Feel them. See if you like any certain style over another, and see what you don't like. Spend some time there and see what other customers in the same boat as you are using. Talk to them, and see what works for them.
3- Make a decision on what you think will WORK FOR YOU. Maybe a cig-a-like is for you. Maybe a Variable Voltage or Wattage MOD is for you. Only you will know.

For me, 2 EGO-Twists with a few T3S clearomizers, a couple of cheap usb chargers, and a bunch of juice samples would seem ideal. It's low entry cost, ease of use, and quality of vape for what you're spending is pretty good!

There's a pretty steep learning curve with vaping, and you'll probably outgrow your first setup fairly quickly, but through experimentation you'll learn what works and what doesn't.

The main goal is to use whatever it takes for you to stop smoking!
Vaping make quitting cigarettes much easier than anything before.

Good luck! :toast:

1. Normally hopeless, very ineffective. Placebo (more or less).
2. Usually good, most effective. A genuine nicotine producing product.

1. Rip off
2. Good value.

I'll run for the hills now. :)

This. xD

Some people don't mind the cig-a-likes, but personally, I think it makes me want a cigarette even more. Having the idea of a "fake cigarette" but it not being a real cigarette is not in my opinion a great idea. I think more success would happen if you try to get your mind off of cigarettes completely. So I'd go for the Pen style.

I started with the cig-alike and I did find that it didn't work well for me. I thought I had bought a good one but I still smoked. Then I went to a B&M and got the ego. I didn't have enough for a lot more. I think that it worked well. Then I got a little extra and bought a Vamo 3 and I really like it and see the difference. I know Provari and others are better but very expensive for some people. I will say the pyrex topper is better. I had one that wasn't and it leaked very quickly. It may mean spending more but it's worth it not to loose the ejuice when I am filling it. So now I have 2 ego batteries and the my original cig alike just in case they all run out of juice. I think what works is the best set up to get.

Plus I agree with people who say go to a B&M you may pay a little more but you really need to hold them. I don't think I would have switched without going in. I like having someone walk me through the set up and how to fill them.

I started with cig like, then I needed to find tanks that fit the V2, then they didn't hold enough juice.

I went with an ego and mini's for work and when I am on the road. They definitely have a place that they work out real well. At the house I have an SVD, larger tanks and a couple of mods.

It looks like most walked down this path. I wish I would have save my money on the cig look a likes but it's to late now. I gave them to a guy at work that is trying to quick with a couple cartos.

If you just want something so you "fit in" with friends and folks who are smoking, get a cig-a-like. It will probably help with cravings. I started with Greensmoke cig-a-likes--fairly expensive for a starter set and really expensive for extra cartridges. I only used it for about 2 weeks and then I bought an itaste vv3 for around $30, which worked a TON better. And way less expensive to buy ejuice in flavors that taste really, really good (vs the kind of weird taste of the cartridges for cig-a-likes) with lots of options for levels of nicotine and lots of vendors to provide good stuff vs being "stuck" with whatever the maker of the cig-a-like has to offer. Also you will find yourself needing to charge the cig-a-like battery probably 4 to 6 times a day or more often. If you get a decent battery you can charge it once a day.

So you need to decide what will work best for your in your situation. I think there are a lot of folks in this forum who started with cig-a-likes and then moved on; probably not many that started with them are still using them except, perhaps, occasionally when they are out and about.

I started with Century 21, didn't do a thing for me. Now I have an Ego 1000 mHp with a Kanger T3S with. 2.2 ohm atomizer and it works great for me although I think I'll switch back to the 1.8 ohm atomizer because it seems to work a little better. 1 month now and no anologs. I haven't figured out my savings yet but I know it's paid for all of my equipment and juice many time over and I don't smell like an ash tray.

Hello,

i am new here and planning to change from traditional tobacco based cigarette to e-cigarette.
but i am confused which one to go for.

i see two types on the market

1. a traditional cigarette having an exact shape of e-cigarette (eversmoke.com , skycig.co.uk etc i mean).
2. a pen type is called vapor (which i don't like really as it is not have the shape of traditional cig).

but actually what is the different between this two other than the look and feel?

You have seen two types on the local market or are you talking about online? I assume you mean the local market in Saudi Arabia.
I'd suggest you try out a few different disposables and see if there is one that you can live with.
If you find one, then you can move up from there.

If you are looking to order international and ordering from the US is going to be too expensive, many people use www.fasttech.com; (aka slowtech).
Another option is healthcabin; also focalcigs; chinabuye.

If you can obtain eliquids and want the cigalike form factor, a good setup would be the vision v-nanos and some automatic batteries. (But fasttech doesn't have the v-nanos.) Another option is the Joyetech EROLL; that's pretty popular.

I started off with the cigalike because it was a Groupon deal, but it took no time at all to go for the ego style batteries because they just lasted longer and was easier for me. The people I talk to about vaping, I suggest skipping the first step and going for the ego's. I now would actually recommend going for the mvp2 because they are so easy and fairly inexpensive. The battery life is awesome and I use mine all the time even though I have a bunch of other stuff. Good luck to you. At least you have found a place where you can get all the info you need to make a good decision for you. That is one of the many wonderful things about ecf. :) If you don't mind waiting a little longer, you can save so much money through Fasttech.com. I have to recommend that site to everyone if saving money is a issue like it is for me. :)

New vaper here - husband and I started with cigalikes (Halo G6) to try the whole e-cigarette thing - like you, we also wanted something that looked and felt like a cigarette as we thought that would be more comfortable for us. Did that for a couple of weeks and liked them but kept grabbing analogs because of the short battery life and dead cartridges. Ordered a couple of mini-tanks for the G6s and a sampler of ejuice, liked that more, smoked fewer analogs. Bought a couple of generic eGo kits and better juices, haven't picked up an analog since (which is what we consider our official quit date).

Don't regret a single dime we spent, even on the stuff we dropped pretty fast, and (according to my spreadsheet - yeah, I'm one of those people) we will break even after the initial investment (including two brand new "upgrade" batteries and tanks we bought just this week and a ton of different ejuices) in another 12 days. Based on the amount of ejuice we are consuming, we will be saving substantial amounts after that point.

From what I can tell, we had a pretty normal progression and each step has allowed us to learn one or two new things without getting overwhelmed. But the biggest thing is we actually quit. And it was painless. And even fun. :2cool:

So that would be about what? Less than 3 months from start to reach break even point?

I started with the eRoll myself, and it's quite effective if you've never tasted a really good vape before using it. It got me to quit smoking. The same week I quit, I got an Innokin iTaste vv3, and on the day that I quit, had been without a real cigarette all day, I finally got a topper, a tank, to put on the iTaste, and my first hit... eyes wide, vapor pouring from my nose, I'm hollering "THAT'S what I'm talkin' 'bout!" I've rarely used the cigalike eRoll since then. Haven't smoked, either.

I had a few analogs left the night I stopped by the local B&M to talk about ecigs. They were out of the starter kit I decided on, so I bought a cigalike. I still have it. I used it with the few analogs I had left and I had my typical low nic level rage the next day at work. Fortunately, I got to pick up my starter kit that night. I have not had an analog since.

Sorry V2 cigalike...you were not enough for my habit. If you are serious about quitting, pick a nic mg level that will work for you. And get something AT LEAST like a EVOD Starter kit, eGo, Kanger, Vapage, whatever...just get away from smoking. Don't get hung up on how it looks. After a month of not smoking, I don't care if I look like a flying monkey .....

I love to see people scoping out my iTaste; the curiosity or amazement or grinning thumbs-up beats the stuffing out of all those hateful glares I always got with a cigarette in my hand. :thumb: If anyone says anything stupid to me about vaping, I smilingly correct their ignorance. :D

But everyone has a different need when they first are getting used to the idea of quitting smoking. For me, the eRoll worked; it was so like a cigarette in my hand, just a bit heavier, and I had never tasted a really good vape, so I had no idea how almost-tasteless it was, until I got the iTaste+T3S. It's still very useful if I get stressed out and starting having a real craving for a cigarette; I fondle the eRoll as if it's a cigarette, while vaping on the iTaste to get that nicotine level up there.

i've tried a couple different cigalikes in the past; when a friend had one & when my sister gave me one because she didn't like it lol. they tasted bad & didn't produce much vapor at all. my sis stuck to smoking analogs but i recently quit smoking and have used only my ego-style (pen) contraption since March 26th :) so i'd definitely recommend an ego over a cigalike any day.

Took the words out of my mouth, Taowulf. Altho mine were "a chicken's (ummm)... ....". And yes, that was me... vaping on my "garage door remote" as people called it. I did not care, nor do I now.
