OK - I saw an advertorial for an e-cig. I had only briefly heard about them. I went to the site and they have a free starter kit. Shipping for $10. I went ahead and ordered. What the hell, $10. (smokingeverywheree)

After a brief read through some posts I may want something different.

I started smoking on Camel Lights. I have cut back my nicotine by going to Carlton. .01mg of nic and stuff I think. I smoke between 1 and 2 packs a day, it varies.

I may be kidding myself but I think I'm off the nic. I like the smoking. Its all the other stuff in the cig that I dont want. I have little desire to quit right now. Maybe the e-cig will be an alternative.

Anyway - Did I waste $10??

Never seen one for only $10. Smoking Everywhere was complete trash in the beginning but has improved a lot with the latest version and for $10 I'd get one too. Are you sure it wasn't $100? That's what they sell them on their site for. What site did you get it from? I saw somewhere "selling" them for free if you signed up to get refill cartridges for a year @ $150 or something crazy like that.

only if you gave them the ability to debit your account for future purchases on a regular basis.

There are members here who can walk you through the specifics of using the SE products. While not the 'first choice' as in 'best' it is often the 'first choice' as in initial e-cig for testing 'vaping'. As such the SE does serve a purpose.
Learn how to best work with it and you can 'grow' from there.

Local retail? I have no idea, but...

35.00 starter kits - cignot.com and eVapor.net - Manual switch 510's (highly recommended)

27.00 starter kits - eVapor.net - 901 style and 801 style

Juice is a different story. You'll have to find the strength you like and flavor you like. I feel safe recommending a model to you because performance on some models is steady across the board but people's taste buds are widely ranged and sensitive. For recommendations on e-liquid I would suggest browsing the e-liquid review forum.

Soooo - Any thoughts how I could try this without a big investment? Local retail?

Here's a good place: JOYE510

Rocky Mountain ships fast and I've never had a problem with orders.

If you want zero nic liquid, best choice is to buy vegetable glycerine, propylene glycol (optional) and flavoring and mix your own. Very cheap and you can make just about any flavor you want. Puff away all week for about 3 or 4 dollars.

Brik - Where are you located at in the US? Might want to change that so others could help assist you (it is located under User CP at the top of the page).

There is a boxless 510 unit out there (2 full e-cigs, charger, etc.) for $35.00 Heck of a deal. Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.
No box 510 $35 (2 complete e-cigs! charger, etc. who needs a stinking box?!)

You'll find many love the 510 (I do)! A great place to start.

More on the 510 here:
Joye 510 - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

Best price liquid - 30ml liquid for $9 with "ECF" coupon code http://www.mist-stix.com/category_s/64.htm
Good luck!!

I almost got caught up in that one but it was e-smokingtrial. com instead.

They were not even going to send me the refills, just charge me for the basic kit after two weeks. I didn't know this till after I ordered it and they called the next day.
I looked at the site a number of times and there was no mention so I told them I wanted to look around at pricing. They called me a week later and dropped the price to $99 and then $89 but both are outrages prices.

There are local stores that carry them. Here we have Smoker friendly stores and smokingeverywhere kiosk in the malls. The prices are higher (smoker friendly has a two battery kit for $69) but it is nice having the option of getting it now instead of waiting for the mail box. Especially if you are out of juice and are tempted by a pack of analogs.

As it is, I bought locally at first and now am ordering supplies on line.

I can't believe what Smoking Everywhere is doing. The E-cig isn't very well known yet, and they're already destroying the image.
Not only that but when they bury the details so deep you can't see it until it's too late they will have people complaining all over the place possibly giving more amo to the FDA to ban them. They get so many people buying their stuff at hugely inflated prices I don't see why they think they need to try to rip people even more.

That's true, Jim. I gave them the 10 bucks a couple of weeks ago. They advertised one free 4081 and a charger for $9.95. They won't send me the product without a phone call and now I know it is a scam to suck me in to their cartridges via phone.

To hell with the 10 bucks, I just hope the credit card I gave them is safe. Freaking scammers.

That's why we use virtual one time use card numbers... a magazine vendor got me some how along with dvd subcriptions,

a few too many vodka tonics and texas holdem, click the "earn free chips here link", next thing you know I got a box of Harry Potter movies, time and entertainment weekly, and 60 bucks every 3 months recurring charge.

That was the end of "real" cc numbers for me...

but hey I also got like 990,000 chips to use... lol
