I feel as if I have it down, but I continue to get bad taste after rebuilding my protanks. I've used 32 and 30 gauge kanthal. I've used sterile cotton, peaches and cream, and organic cotton thread. I twist the legs, circumsize the grommet, and I'm sure not to leave the coil too low in it's setting. I believe every grommet is silicone. (cloudy and not solid white) Out of 20 rebuilt heads, maybe 3 of them have been fantastic vapes, although every one functions well and has come in between 1.5 and 3.0 ohms. The coils have all been microcoil wrapped on a 1/16th drill bit and torched. They have all seemed symmetrical and clean without any reasons to make me believe they aren't perfect. Why am I having such a poor success rate?

I had this issue too. Mostly due to too much cotton. Not enough wicking is caused by too much. Use half as thick cotton and then ramp up after testing....cotton is tricky. Too little leaks and too much it does not wick. Remember cotton increases in volume after soaking. HTH!

im vaping one now with so little cotton it gurgles badly. it stlll tastes bad. I use multiple juices and batteries, with a few stock heads I throw around for reference.

Try a little more cotton, it will gurgle when not enough cotton is used. On my protank mini & protank2 it is just starting to get tight when I thread it into coil, might have to twist it a bit. I can chain vape both my protanks with no dry hits or gurgling.:vapor:

I've found what works best for my kanger rebuilds is to take a wisp of cotton, roll it ver tight between my fingers and feed it through the coils so it is just snug, not too tight or too loose. Clip the cotton then take a toothpick or something small and fluff either side so happy little cotton clouds fill the openings!

Looks like there's to much but they're really just fluffed! I never get any gurgles, floods or dry hits using this method!

Do you mean twist the wires that come off the coil together? No, don't do that. One wire goes through the grommet and little metal piece that fits on the bottom, the other wire comes out of the side before the grommet. Both wires are trimmed so there isn't any wire sticking out.

I'll concentrate on the wick thickness for a while. Do most people twist the legs regularly?
