I'm expecting my first kit tomorrow or monday...then maybe on tues or weds getting a couple different nic juices. Not sure when my lorann oils will be in the mail. But I'm excited about doing some experimentation with dilution with glyxerin (I've got Wilton's on standby in my bathroom closet!). Also looking forward to creating my own unflavored non-nic mix with distilled water and glycerin! I bought Everclear to use a diluter on a whim 'cause someone said to use that rather than water....sounds scary tho. I'll try water first and if that does the trick I'll just make me some trash-can punch with the Everclear! (ewwwww)

ngarriso - I had the same issue with my Smoking Everywhere ecig (about a month ago). I bought some juice to drop in the cart. Worked better that way. Then, after a gazillion hours reading these forums, I bought a 510 with a manual battery. My Smoking Everywhere cig has not left its case since. I love the 510 no comparison. Also no analogs for 3 weeks. Hang in there - you will not be disappointed. Best of luck to you!

Most Smoking Everywhere customer is happy with their next e-cig. :) Dripping on the atomizer is probably the best you can do for now, it will increase vapor and flavor. Just don't give up! My Mom got one of those as a "gift" and now she's got a Yeti, too.

Yep, unfortunately, there is a learning curve. And, yep, we are all glad you didn't give up, ngarriso! It would be great if everone's first e-cig was a 901 or a 510, but we all have to find out own way. Thank goodness for the forum. My 510 was actually my fourth e-cig and now I don't care so much about what the next big thing is.

Read, learn, vape! Thank goodness for the forum!

The everclear will give you the throat hit that tha water won't.

Its slowly coming back to me now....I remember why I bought it, heh! You are right, I was reading last night (after too many vodka-clubs) that Everclear gives a throat hit.

I wonder how bad / not-so-bad it is for you thought to vape?? 'Tis a shame we don't all have us some fancy-sweet scientist hangin' around to test all of our concoctions and ideas!!

Wish I'd had this help when I started. Great advice to people getting started; GO EASY. Didn't realize I was getting a nicotine overdose until I bought some of the 34 mg unflavored and began flavoring my own without cutting with glycerin the first time. Talk about RLS (restless leg syndrome), it was so bad I had to go to the recliner and spend one of the most sleepless nights ever. My wife caught on and pointed out that the only thing she could figure out was too much nicotine while I was still vaping away at 3 AM with a case of "jimmy legs" that would have made a good episode of Seinfeld in the day.

Insomnia's a "female dog" even without the overdose of stimulants! Have you diluted your stuff from now on?

Here are two of the studies I looked at.

According to the site/study by Dr Laugesen on the Ruyan e cigarette only one tenth of the available nicotine in an ecig is actually absorbed.

Table 1 Nicotine doses deliverable from a tobacco and a Ruyan® nicotine e-cigarette

Manufactured tobacco cigarette
Per puff 0.1 mg
Per 15 puffs or one cigarette 1.5 mg
Per 300 puffs (20 cigarettes or 1 nicotine cartridge) 30 mg

Ruyan® 16 mg cartridge
Per puff 0.010 mg
Per 15 puffs or one cigarette 0.15 mg
Per 300 puffs (20 cigarettes or 1 nicotine cartridge) 3 mg

Ruyan® 0 mg cartridge
Per puff 0.0 mg
Per 15 puffs or one cigarette 0.0 mg
Per 300 puffs (20 cigarettes or 1 nicotine cartridge) 0 mg

This makes more sense. I have been vaping a lot more than I have been smoking and I just could not understand why. It felt like the nicotine withdraw symptoms I had when I was trying to quit smoking. 18mg/10ml does not mean 2 cartons of analog cigarettes.

Hey All,

Through my research I came across a DOC that has the current levels of TAR & NIC per cig among the most popular brands. The test was conducted in late 2008.

2i8y5jm.jpg

Find your brand. Make sure your not using more than you use to. Take that level & X by howmany you used to smoke. Try to stay within that range.

My example. I smoke Marlboro Menthol Lights FTK 20S. NIC level per analog is 0.7 MG. Tar is 8 MG per analog. X 15 ANALOG per da average = 10.5 MG of NIC per day & 120 MG of TAR.

So by VAPING I save 120 MG of TAR NOT in my lungs. Over the course of a year thats 43800 MGs!!! Or 43.8 GRAMS!!!! OR 1.54 OZs PER YEAR!!! Oh My god. I have been smoking for 18 years. Thats means I have taken in 27.72 OZs of TAR. Damn, thats 1.74 LBS........

Where the hell is my PV!!!!

I also posted this in helpful links, so please forgive the cross post. People keep referring to analogs as roughly 1mg so I wanted to point out that there's actually a huge variance. an analog can be anywhere from .8 to 1.9 mg. I wanted to post a link, but apparently am not allowed to do that yet. if you google cigarette nicotine content, ignore the sponsored link & the first legit hit will give you the nic content by brand/style of cig

Since I'm only vaping my day 4 now, I find that all day long I do about 1-1.5ml of 18mg Kent cut to 10-11mg. What bothers me is this evening, as well as the previous I suddenly feel a need for a hard hit. This does not go away until I make 5-8 long draws on a fresh cart+bat+dripping using my Cappuccino (which already has MASSIVE throat hit). Is this normal?

I used to do 1/2 pack per evening when on analogs, also. That is with overall 1.5 packs per day.

I think I am overdosing... 8-o

general question: how much liquid in ml should i start with, since i haven't vaped yet, i don't want to end up with too much cuz i'd rather get 1 flavor and try other vendors...but since i want to ditch the analogs, i don't want to be stuck without juice...will 20ml be alrite for now, or should i go for 40ml...ie. if i go thru 3-5 carts a day, how long would 20ml likely last me...plz answer promptly, my order is a minute away from being complete :)

UPDATE: nvm, i just grabbed 20ml...

This is an email response to me from Dr. Laugesen. I posted this in the health section of this forum, but thought I'd post it here as well. If you click on the link below you will be directed to the website. I had initially asked a question about the cancer risk of nicotine. This question is answered under the tab "e-cigarette" on her website. The email below is in response to my game plan for getting off analogs and eventually going to 0mg nic liquid.

Heather

The cancer risk answer is now available at www.healthnz.co.nz/cancerrisk.htm

Thanks for sharing your game plan. I would like to make the following comments. But do keep in touch as to how it goes for you.

Because ecigs contain less nicotine per puff, you will need more puffs not less to get sufficient nicotine and to damp down desire for a cigarette. The ecigarette, not requiring to be lit, can be conveniently used every five minutes if that is what you need to damp down the desire for a cigarette. Some people need one refill every day, some need more or less than this.

There is no risk of overdosing on nicotine. The first sign of excess nicotine is nausea, and that is a signal to eliminate one more cigarette from that point onwards.

If you can make sure you are no longer smoking even one cigarette a day you have protected your health. Complete abstinence from smoked tobacco is essential. This is Stage 1.

Stage 2. Quitting nicotine may take longer and it doesnt matter so much because now your health is not under threat from your smoking. Once you have quit smoking tobacco, it doesnt matter so much if you cant cut down to 0 mg. Without nicotine you may be more vulnerable to start smoking a cigarette again each day just for the nicotine.

Continuing the smoke a nicotine e-cigarette ensures you always have nicotine on hand should you ever be tempted to smoke cigarettes again.

I strongly advise anyone who quits and who owns a ecig to keep an ecig in their purse or pocket at all times for at least one year. And you may find an emergency nicotine refill cartridge for the e-cigarette in the purse is useful.
This is all meantime.

I'm new in all this, i just order my blu, it is suppose to get here in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking into getting down on my nicotine use, I order the the higher level on nicotine, but after reading the posts I'm afraid I will end doing worst than before, please help I need info. about all this

HazelS- read my previous post two above this one. It has been said time and time again that the nicotine we get from e-cigs may not be as addictive as from an analog. This is because the e-cig doesn't have the added chemicals analogs have that make the nicotine more pleasureable by heightening the effect of the nicotine in the brain. Therefore, it will be easier to go down gradually in regards to mg/ml. What alot of people do is use the higher mg nic for when you really have a craving and use a lower mg nic to just vape all the time. Please go to the link in my post above. That will take you to a website that will inform you about how much nic you are actually getting with the e-cig. The more informed you are, the more comfortable you will be with vaping. Read, read, read, and read some more. And ask as many questions as you want. Be sure to visit the womens room under the catagory "social groups" too! Welcome!

Holy crap. If the OP's calcs are correct, I must have smoked about 10 packs of cigs today!! LOL I usually smoke a little over a pack a day.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum... I smoked a little over a pack a day (camel filters) for 35 years, heard about vaping, did the research, bought the kit and extra juice (24mg/ml) and totally quit on July 31. Haven't had a cigarette since.:D

Camel filters have 1.3 mg nicotine each. That's 26mg per pack. A 15ml bottle of 24 mg juice has 15*24 = 360 mg of nicotine, which is about 13.8 (call it 14) packs of camel filters.

I'm about 2/3 through my first bottle of juice, over a 37 day period. Where I was smoking a pack a day, my nicotine consumption is now down to the equivalent of about 5 cigarettes worth per day.

Now if I can just figure out where I lost my other e-cig during the first week...

Howdy All, I'm a newb myself and was worried about overdoing it. I initially got suckered in by the smoking everywhere cig that I used a whole 4-5 times before I did more research. I'm Marlboro 100's pack a day smoker. So I decided to buck down and got myself a TECC 510 titan kit, some extra batteries, extra atomizers, some 18mg TECC liquid (not liking very much) and some 18mg TW Cherry liquid (LOVE IT!). I barely got my stuff yesterday and noticed that I overdid it a bit :). Mostly I'd like for the 510 to replace my regular cigs and eventually cut down to as little nicotine as possible but fearing that I might end up getting more nicotine than I had before. But as was said earlier I guess I just need to listen to what my body is telling me. This is a great thread by the way and thanks to everyone that's participated! - Waka

I smoked analogs on purpose a couple of times the past few days so I could count how many drags I take off of one. I average between 12 and 15 inhales per cigerette.

I think you have to account for how many inhales you have too. A person who inhales only twice per cigarette won't get as much, a person who smokes a 100 will get more than somebody who smokes the same way who smoked kings, etc and since they count by drips (or at least inhales, sort've at least) I think you have to count that in too, some people suck on them like a sucker fish stuck to a fish tank, some people smoke them about the way most e cmokers smoke (long and slow but inhaling and having it out their nose sort of like a 'dragon snorting, which oddly I don't see hardly anyone doing with e cigs, msot seem to be going at this like they're pipes or cigars, unless absolutely everyone on YouTUbe etc is just not inhaling and 'dragon nostrilling' for effect to demonstrate how much vapor they get, I dont' know) some inhale more deeply, some more lightly, etc etc

In really thinking about all this, I don't see how even the exact same cigarette (say you have 10 people all smoking Marlboro red for example), because of the way they would all smoke differently, take different amounts of inhales, I don't see how that one cigarette could be counted on to deliver the same 22 mgs (or whatever) to all of them.
